Summary: WONDERFILLED FOR KIDS...
Review: Though as an adult you may find yourself twitching a bit during this slightly overlong adventure tale, children from any era will find it mesmerizing. The Disney-ification of this classic Verne adventure tale is filled with innocent thrills, and features sets and adventures that make children drool -- they are, quite simply, fantasy adventures come to life. You will easily understand why the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse remains a fixture at the Magic Kingdom -- is it possible to conceive and imagine and create a more perfectly fabulous place for castaways to live? Dorothy Maguire and John Mills transcend some of the corn with their sturdy and oh-so-appealing portrayals of upright parents suddenly thrust into a terrifying -- and challenging -- new place to raise their children. How about that watering hole???

Summary: Old fashioned adventure
Review: Overall, this is a wonderful movie that my 7-year-old son enjoys watching over and over and over again. It's old fashioned in ways that are both good and not so good: the action and adventure are much tamer than what's out there in today's hyper-violent movies. On the other hand, the attitudes toward women are pretty sexist and outdated, and the treatment of animals not the most sensitive. Nonetheless, it really is a terrific adventure move for children and adults.

Summary: Fun to watch over and over and over.....
Review: I was renting this movie repeatedly for my two children (7 and 4). This is the ONLY movie they both enjoy watching again and again. It quickly became obvious this movie had to become a permanent addition to our video library.

Summary: Swiss Family Robinson
Review: I think this is a good movie. I also think you should read the book before you watch the movie. There are some different things between them. I think Disney did a good job on this movie

Summary: Yet another junk DVD from Disney
Review: As with most of Disney's DVD releases, they seem to have some quality control issues. I purchased this movie (which I remember as a youth) as part of the Vault Disney 4-movie collection. I never DID get to see it.....

I had to return my first set, because the case was broken on "Old Yeller". No big deal. But then...the secondary disc on "The Parent Trap" skipped and stalled, and "Swiss Family Robinson" wouldn't even load.

Having had terrible experience with Disney DVD's previously ("The Great Locomotive Chase"), I opted for a refund instead of dealing with the frustrations of another set that was defective.

Frankly, Disney's products seem to have so many problems, I doubt I will ever buy another one. Many of their movies are in the wrong ratio, some are terrible transfers ("Old Yeller" in particular, and also the Chinatown scene in "The Love Bug" comes to mind), and now I've had this set and "The Great Locomotive Chase" which have had "playability" issues.

For a company with such a great library of old movies, it is really sad that they put out such an inferior product. As I would love to include them in my DVD library. But one shouldn't have to concern themself with worrying whether a DVD is going to play or not when they purchase it.
