Summary: Unforgettable!
Review: This is one of the best fantasies you could ever see on screen. There are simply no comparable quality-stories filmed yet to fully compete with "Willow" -- possibly "The Legend" and the soon to be released "The Lord of the Rings," but that's it. Full of unexpected surprises, having even some Biblical parallels (Moses in the basket, etc.), you would find this show unforgettable experience for you and your kids. You have to see to wish to own it immediately and see it over and over again. My kids do.

Summary: A journey that taketh forever
Review: I wanted to love this movie, but I just couldn't. The brainchild of Mr. Star Wars himself, George Lucas, 'Willow', while certainly ambitious, struck me as anemic and derivative. I think the thing that surprised me the most was the seemingly clumsy steering of [director] Ron Howard. Perhaps he was overwhelmed by the scale of the story, I don't know. So anyway, Willow, farmer and dwarf, finds infant Elora (babies Ruth and Kate Greenfield as "Willow's" most believable performers) abandoned at the river's edge -- she's being hidden from wicked Queen Bavmorda. Willow's mission (other than inducing listlessness) is to deliver babe to the good castle of Tir Asleen, where she can fulfill her destiny to bring about Queen Bav's downfall. Willow gets help from two Lilliputian-sized Brownies (Kevin Pollak and Rick Overton), less-willing help from cranky swordsman Madmartigan (an enthusiastic but unoriginal Val Kilmer) and resistance from Bavmorda's Nockmaar army. Of course a big finale with Queen B. breweth.

Obviously, Lucas reworks his own myth as well as integrating The Hobbit and The Bible into this movie. The special FX are decent, but the story is way too formula no matter how well the sets are dressed.

Review: This is an excellent, excellent movie, and I've seen just aboutall of them. I see a lot of people younger than my 49 years writing in to say so too, but anyone of any age who has wit and humor would enjoy this one. I want my DVD!

Summary: This is a Great Movie, and a Great Fantasy Film
Review: That this movie could be considered anything less than five stars is unbelievable to me. Having first seen it when I was eight, I have since revisited it and discovered a wealth of wit, fun, and imagination that sets it apart from so very many movies. Each time I see it, I become aware of a whole new set of subtleties, and enjoy the experience even more than the last. It is clearly the best movie of the fantasy genre that I have seen, with a clever and enticing plot, some very fine imagery, fabulous direction, and a wit that prevents it from taking itself too seriously. It is always a pleasure to watch.

Most importantly, it avoids all the pitfalls that plague the fantasy genre in movies, consistently different from and better than the stereotypical "Kull the Conqueror" hack and slash flicks. It is executed with enough intelligence, skill, sense of humour and imagination to appeal to any viewers, regardless of their preferred genre, and is, in my opinion, a truly great film.

Willow is to Fantasy Movies what The Lord of the Rings is to the sea of bubble gum fantasy/sci-fi novels: clearly more intelligent, and more refined, a classic that stands alone not as a work of fantasy but as a landmark contribution to a world of literature/film.

Summary: One of the best fantasy films
Review: I originally saw this movie when I was in 9th. grade. It is still one of my favorite movies of all time. I even read the sequel novels by George Lucas and Chris Claremont and it just brought back so many memories of when I saw it in the theater. I just hope it comes out in VHS soon, because I don't have a DVD player.

Summary: Great Fantasy Adventure!
Review: George Lucas and Ron Howard team to concoct one of the greatest adventure films of the 80's. I saw it in the theaters when it came out, and even now I still love it. It has everything, action, thrills, romance, comedy, great special effects, good performances, sword fights, fire-breathing monsters, the evil General Kael, and many other memorable moments. By reading all of the other reviewers desperately hoping for the film's re-release I fear I am in bad company still owning my copy. If they ever re-release Willow for Widescreen though, that will be a real treat!

Summary: Outstanding! I want the DVD NOW!!
Review: I finally got my hands on a copy of this movie at our local video rental store and I can not wait for this movie to come to DVD! It is certainly at the top of my DVD wishlist! Combining dazzling visual and sound effects, terrific action sequences (that almost make you wonder why it didn't get a PG-13), a great cast, and a powerful, unforgettable score by James Horner, Lucas and Howard came up with an outstanding masterpiece with Willow, and releasing it on DVD would only make it better!!

Summary: PECK PECK PECK PECK PECK !
Review: I saw this movie when i was 8 or 9, yet i never tire of it. It has all the fantasy elements: the different races, the magic, the setting, the swordplay, etc... yet i think of the characters from lord of the rings and compare the similarities: both are on quests, willow = frodo, baby =ring, bavmorda = sauron, kael and nokmar soldiers = black riders, madmardigan = boromir or strider, meegosh = pippin, merry, or sam, the sorceress that helps willow (forgot her name) = gandalf
