Summary: Even good people can make bad videos
Review: My children and I are big fans of Veggie Tales but keep this one out of your collection. It just does not have the same fun, freshness and excitement that the other videos have. And there is no silly song! It could not even keep my son's attention and this is a boy who would watch Veggie Tales all day if we let him. Pass on this one.

Summary: Important topic, but not the best Veggie Tale
Review: My two children love Veggie Tales, and my son even knows all of the words to the theme song. I very much appreciate this series as a tool for teaching Christian values in a fun and clever way that is given on a level that kids can understand. That said I do have some comments about this video in particular.

The Gilligan's Island segment is far better than the Grapes of Wrath segment. It has a GREAT song about forgiveness, and the message is very clear! The Forgive-O-Matic segment made me uncomfortable; even though I am not Catholic, it did seem a bit pointed. The Grapes of Wrath segment I felt fell short. The mean-spirited grapes were repeatedly intentionally mean, and that was used as a vehicle to explain the necessity of repeated forgiveness. The problem is that I've seen people use this type of argument in abusive relationships. Repeated forgiveness is necessary, for both the offender and offended, but the situation where the offender was not truly repentant was not dealt with. Perhaps this is too complicated for young children, but forgiving someone doesn't mean that you have to leave yourself open to abuse. Finally, I would have liked to see the concept of forgiving yourself included as part of repentance and accepting of salvation, as sometimes that can be the most difficult part if you are sincere.

Summary: VT tries again, but isn't perfect yet
Review: The second video in the series, this VT ep didn't quite reach the quality that later videos would reach. I imagine this is because the authors were still new at making movies. The first half of the video, about the grapes of wrath, has no plot whatsoever and is merely a lesson. It is not presented in a very interesting way. The second half, the gilligan's island parody, was much more amusing and presented better music and a great message in a fun way. It still wasn't as good as the others, but it was decent. The Forgive-o-matic sequence really made me happy. I loved that part a lot. A good movie, but if you're looking to buy the best in the series, this isn't it.

Summary: Ironically unforgiving video
Review: The Veggie Tales series is an entertaining, fun, and uplifting computer-animated series for kids and adults alike, but this particular installment is an embarrassment. It has the complimentary morals tied to its stories, but the overall aspect of the video is incredibly stale. It moves at such a slow pace, even older people will grow restless. The video also slaps some lame dialogue and action in here and tries to make it funny... and it just isn't. The only thing saving this package is its occasional one-liner and cool songs. Other than this, I cannot forgive the Veggie Tales crew. I commend you if you are a fan of Veggie Tales, and also discourage you from watching this video. Veggie Tales has produced some awesome videos. This just isn't one of them.

Summary: Lots of Fun!
Review: The VeggieTales tapes are great! This particuar tape is fun, but it isn't the best of the series. It has a very good message and is an easy way to begin instilling the Christian values that have been missing in entertainment.

Summary: Even fun for the grownups!
Review: The whole veggie-tales series is outstanding. This is one video you can be sure the kids will watch over and over. And like some Sesame Street shows, it has subtle humor for the adults to catch too. The silly songs, one on each video are so much fun. The kids walk around the house singing them for days.

Summary: The nadir of Veggiedom
Review: This disappointing video suffers both from the comparatively crude animation and slow pacing of the early VeggieTales work and from two boring stories. My children reach for this VeggieTales video far less than they reach for any of the others in our collection.

Summary: Great movie
Review: This is a movie for everyone, no matter how old you are. I know people, ranging from 8 months, to 19 years that absolutly love Veggie Tales. This particular video is about forgiveness. First Jr. Asparagus must learn to forgive "The Grapes of Wrath" for making fun of him, and laughing at him. Jr's father teaches him (andone watching), that god wants us to forgive everyone. Then thereis Bob & Larry, telling the story about when Larry crashes their boat on an uncharted island(Larry has big dreams) and how everyone has to forgive him. This is definately a must see movie!

Summary: very good, one little critique
Review: This is a very good early VeggieTales. They didn't quite hit their peak yet with this one. They do 2 segments instead of one larger segment. In between there is no song, but the Forgive-o-matic section is still good. It's just no Silly Song.

This is a very good lesson for kids. When someone asks for forgiveness, give it to them. I would note only one thing. A person who is truly sorry will do more than say he or she is sorry. That isn't mentioned in the video, but I also think it is an oversight. However, I have to keep in mind that it is geared towards kids. Big Idea is trying to get the general message across, which they do very well. The parents need to be around to make sure the message in their head doesn't become one of cheap grace. We don't want our kids coming up to us asking forgiveness when all they really want is to get out of trouble and they genuinely aren't sorry. But, as I said, this is more of a note than a critique. I highly recommend the video.

Summary: Movie with outstanding morals that my son enjoys..
Review: This is a video with great lessons for children that also keep their attention. My son (two years old) will watch and laugh through the whole video. He even loves to sing the son "God is Bigger than the Boogey Man".
