Summary: One of the top 5 movies for girls
Review: The Matilda video has been a staple in our video collection for the last two years. I love the movie because it is an encapsulation of the way life is - there are nasty people and good people, and everyone, even a little girl named Matilda can make a good life for herself, even by herself. The movie is a female version of David and Goliath! The movie has taught my girls that it's cool for girls to be smart, that kids can have control over their world, and that bad people get what they deserve! Excellent movie!!

Summary: A Brilliant Adaptation
Review: The best thing I can say about this film, is that it brought back all the wonderful emotions the book stirred in me when I read it as a child. While DeVito's vision of Dahl's children's novel is more comical and colorful than the book, the central character is very much the same. Our heart goes out to Matilda. By normal standards, her homelife isn't terrible, but Matilda is far from normal... she is extrodinary. Denied proper educational guidance from her parents, Matilda sets out for the public library at age 4 and has read Moby Dick and a wide assortment of Dickens by the time she enters school. School is both more terrible and more inspiring for Matilda... her school is positively horrid but her teacher is the most kind, patient, and selfless person one could find. For the first time, Matilda is introduced to someone who fosters her brillance rather than denies her it. All the performances; particularly those by DeVito, Pearlman, and Mara Wilson as Matilda; are brilliant. Depsite the fact that this DVD has been cropped by over 43%, I highly reccomend that you give this a rental and then buy a copy of the book. Should a widescreen version of the film come out on DVD, I wholeheartedly recommend you buy that.

Summary: Matilda
Review: I think it is a wonderful video But i dont think you it is apprpiate to show to pre-school children because it puts them off going to school even though it isn't true but they think it is real and for children to a principal throwing children occross the playground or out of windows it scares them a bit. But on the whole it was an amazing video.

Summary: Brilliant movie!
Review: Roald Dahl's Matilda in literary sense is already a masterpiece deserving more than any award you can think of; The movie is a notch higher than the book where every detail in the book comes to life.

Apart from the infamously cheeky Mara Wilson (I love her!), we have Danny DeVito too, whose quirky and phony mannerism only can wipe that frown from your face after a hard day's work.

The content is a little disturbing, if not offensive though, especially to a young kid. There's a scene when a girl is swung about by Miss Trunchbull by her pigtails like a person would a hammer. It was scandalous, and I was quite surprised that the directors and producers are so faithful to Roald Dahl's imaginations.

A perfect children's video, for children who think no one loves them, for children who are too often misunderstood, for children who are ignored, for children who are bullied in school... hey, little friend, big is not always right :o) (parental guidance and maternal+paternal love needed)

Summary: A classic
Review: One of my all time favorites. I have watched this movie at least five times and I still enjoy it as much as the first time. A must for family movie collections.

Summary: A wonderful movie for everyone
Review: I love this movie.I like Miss Honey, who is Matilda's teacher best because she is very nice and she helps Matilda to solve her problems. At the end of the film, she adopts Matilda, gives her new hope and changes her life.I don't like Harry Wormwood,Matilda's father. In the scene where Mr Wormwood brings Matilda and her brother to the garage,he teaches them how to cheat the customers-decrease the mileage of cars sold. And he doesn't want to give Matilda a chance to study in the school and doesn't let her read books.
I think the climax of this movie is where Matilda uses her telekinetic power to fight against the headmistress-Miss Trunchbull.
In this movie, the author gives Matilda a gift of telekinetic power and intelligence in studying.I think it is a very good story-line.In real life,I don't think people will have such an ability. If i can choose to have one of them,I think i will choose to have high intelligence in study, because I can get a higher mark in school and the knowledge from the books. I read is very useful.
In one scene,Miss Trynchbull picks up a schoolgirl by her ponytails, spins her around and throws her out of the window. If you hear that in real life, you may be shocked, but it happens only in a film-an imagination. The characters are very funny and we feel excited rather rather frightened .

Review: Mara Wilson and Danny De Vito star in this children's movie wannabe is what better than the title above. And when now that Matilda is diffrent from her parents. By the age of 4 Matilda has taught herself to read. And is left wiht sojup. But instead she throws it out and makes herself pancakes. In real life Danny De Vito and Rhea Perlman are married and they are in this film.

Summary: Matilda
Review: The Trunchball is no match for Matilda. This smart little girl has put super glue in her dads hat. She is one smart girl with a jealous father. Her father is one that can not stand a book what so ever. He hates it whenever Matilda reads. Infact he has even ripped up a library book and tore it to shreads. The Trunchball is the same way with a huge stomack and hates little children. She wishes children didn't exist. Ms. Honey a teacher of Matildas is the total oppisote and finds Matilda to be a sweet little child. Matilda even likes her teacher better than her parents who are totaly weird. Matilda can even do magic powers that she has only told Ms. Honey about.

Summary: The Trunchbull is awesome!
Review: Hysterical movie. However, this is not for young children. There are some scenes with violence and for a large portion of the movie, the tone is very negative. However, the movie is quite humorous. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman deliver excellent performances. But the show is stolen by Pam Ferris as Agatha Trunchbull, the school principal and every young child's worst nightmare! Enjoy this movie, but be warned, it is a little of the beaten path!
