Rating: Summary: This movie was excellent!! Review: "Ever After" was a magical story. I could see this movie over and over again. This movie gives a whole new dimension to the Cinderella tale that we all know and love. No one should pass it up. "Ever After" is great for the entire family or if your on a date. I'm definitely going to buy it the first chance I get!!
Rating: Summary: They finally got Cinderella right!!!!! Review: Magic pumpkins, fairy godmothers, talking mice, breaking out into song? Come on. Danielle (Drew Barrymore) is not a delecate little flower waiting for someone to save her. She can take care of herself and does. The love of the prince (played brillantly by Dougray Scott) didn't make her who she was, it just made her relize just how incretble she already was. The supporting cast was amazing. Danielle is strong, smart, and sassy. This movie give's young girls a role model. This is the only version a Cinderella I would ever let my daughter see. Showing you don't need anyone to save you, you can do that yourself. It was funny, smart, romantic and just plain brilliant. Finally somebody got Cinderella right.
Rating: Summary: Beautifuly touching and entertaining! Review: This is the epitome of pure movie magic. Ever After combines everything one could possibly want in a movie-a perfect combination of goodness and evilness, and a wonderful happy ending. It has a strong and independent heroine, an evil family, a very handome prince, an artist, a charming royal family, and a beautiful love story set against beautiful scenery and accompanied by music which makes the experience all the more magical. It probably constitutes as a "chick-flick", but anyone will love it. It is a brilliant re-telling of the well-known Cinderella Story, and a very good attempt at making it very realistic. Although the historical aspect is not perfect, it does a very good job of making one very happy when the movie is over. It just makes a person smile. It is a feel-good movie with all of the right elements, and, of course, and ending where they live happily ever after.
Rating: Summary: Drew Barrymore sparkles in a 90's retelling of Cinderella. Review: I never really liked Drew Barrymore's work, but she really brings a fresh, 90's twist to a well-known tale. Instead of sitting around singing and crying about what she wants, she goes out and gets it by being strong, assertive, and smart. While some aspects were too 90's, the overall effect was awesome!
Rating: Summary: A great movie every one will like Review: Drew Barrymore and Dougry Scott make an excellent couple as well as put on a extraodinary performance. This movie is based on the classic fairy tale of Cinderella. But it adds some intresting conflicts between the charecters. Angelica Housten fits the part of the step-mother perfectly! I highly recomend this movie to anyone of any age!
Rating: Summary: Powerful Cliche Review: This film was a truly well done piece of art, evoking the fairytale essence and emotions that only Cinderella has the ability to render. In short, it basically rocked. Although it was completely predictable and a total cliche, the film still manages to touch the audience in a unique yet heartfelt manner. This movie is perfect for the hopeless romanic in all of us!
Rating: Summary: Five stars isn't enough Review: oh my god, this movie was the best thing in the world!! I saw it millions of times, and it is abousltly the best thing to ever happen to me! It tottaly made me feel great about myself and pulled me out of a depression, it was aboustly wonderful. The whole love story blew me away, the prince was such a beautiful man and drew berrymore was beautiful in it, and it was so not lacking comedey, maybe it was lacking mice that made a beautful dress, but it was not lacking heart or somedey, It was the bestest thing in the world. And when the evil sister threw the book in the firem i cried so hard!!! It's the best movie ever.
Rating: Summary: I love this movie! Review: I've seen this movie, and after I've seen it, I wanted to see it again and again! I think this is my favorite movie with Drew Barrymore in it! And I loved how they used the famous painting on the movie as a portrait of Barrymore. I love it and I'm gonna get it first day it comes out!
Rating: Summary: Drew Barrymore makes an enchanting Cinderella Review: At first glance, Ever After appears to be a movie set up for disaster. Set in a murky period of pseudo-history in which Frenchmen speak perfect English while spouting very modern political ideals, where Thomas More's Utopia (published 1516) has been around for at least 10 years, yet Leonardo Da Vinci (died 1519) is still alive and well and now functioning as a matchmaker for the young prince of France, the movie threatens to grow absurd and lose the audience's suspension of disbelief. But before the movie, shot in a number of lush period settings, is able to alienate its audience, Drew Barrymore appears on the scene as Cinderella. The movie makers have expanded upon the Cinderella myth considerably, and Barrymore is given a complex character to play rather than a one-dimensional fairy tale heroine. She pulls it off with aplomb. She is both sweet and strong, intelligent yet vulnerable, and it is her nuanced performance as Cinderella which in the end makes the whole movie work as a charming little period romance.
Rating: Summary: Fun, watchable fairy tale Review: Remember, it is a "Cinderella story", but it's a joy to watch a strong female lead and to see the couple actually spend a few days together getting to know one another before they magically fall in love. Framing the story with the Brothers Grimm and making the whole thing more "real" adds to the film's appeal.
