Summary: My son's first movie experience and he loved it!
Review: We were unsure about taking our almost 3-year-old to see this movie after hearing some negative comments about it, but he really wanted to see it so we took him. This was his first theater experience and he sat wonderfully through the whole movie. He absolutely loved it and has been asking me ever since when he can see it again. We have been eagerly awaiting the release of this movie on video. He was able to follow the plot and has been reenacting moments from the movie with his die-cast Thomas, Diesel 10, Lady, etc. ever since. It is a great movie for children, especially Thomas fans. My daughters who are 8 and 6 also enjoyed the movie. It will undoubtably be viewed over and over and over it our house.

Summary: Parents: Watch at Your Own Risk!
Review: Sure, my three year old son loved this as much as he loves all the Thomas stories, but my wife and I were horrified by how much the moviemakers decided to forget about any adult viewers. Fonda looks like he just viewed every film he made after Easy Rider and then was called to the set, and Wilson is much too old for this kind of little girl part anymore. I hope Britt Allcroft can improve on this, she owes Thomas fans, young and old, much more.

Summary: A charmer for the little folks
Review: This movie was my 3 year old son's first cinematic experience, and he loved it! When the trains first came onscreen, he was excitedly shouting out their names, and he was thrilled by the escapades of Thomas, Lady, and their nemesis Diesel 10. Even the 11 and 14 year old boys who came along with us enjoyed the movie. For those parents whose preschool boys have not discovered the lure of the Island of Sodor, this is a good opportunity to experience it. By the way, the stories on videotape, narrated by the likes of George Carlin and Ringo Starr are also tremendous, with their charming characters, positive storylines, and gentle sense of humor -- and tolerable for the parents to sit through repeated viewings with their little ones (a wonderful alternative to the sickeningly sweet carrying-on of Barney and the like). Enjoy!

Summary: 3 year old in heaven
Review: I took my 3 year old son to this, his first movie. I was unsure that he would sit through it still and quietly, but I needn't have worried. He was riveted the entire time and ever since, he can't stop talking about the story line and characters. For those who say that the plot is convoluted, all I have to say is that if a 3 year old can understand it, then most adults should be able to follow along. I am tired of reading several negative reviews about the movie and think they do it a disservice. The real action helps provide plot, but it is cut in and out of the animation in such a way that allows for the children to see the trains and keep it from getting boring. The movie has been targetted at a very young viewer and from my son's reaction and that of the other children in the theatre, I think that for a feature length movie, it does a very good job.

Summary: Tremendous disappointment for Thomas fans
Review: My 3-year-old daughter adores Thomas, as do her mother and I. We looked forward to this movie for months, but were all tremendously disappointed. Instead of seeing an entertaining Thomas adventure, we saw a film with a confused plot involving a parallel world in which a very depressing Peter Fonda was featured. Even in the Island of Sodor scenes, the Thomas action took a back seat to miniature conductors and magic gold dust.

This may have been entertaining to some, but was grossly out of touch with the elegance of the original stories. The Thomas mania is due to the charm of Thomas and his friends, not the bizarre magical Shining Time Station. The makers of this film forgot what made millions of children adore the Thomas stories.

Summary: The cutest movie ever! (For littler kids)
Review: I really liked this movie. A lot of people say it is for younger kids, but I'm 13 and I think it is really cute. The trains, animation, and characters are fun and the whole movie is a mystery about the magical train, Lady. You should see it, even if you're not a Thomas-The-TankEngine fan, it might turn you into one! I think the actors did a good job too. One thing I didn't like, or thought they should fix, was the trains faces. Their mouths should move. Other than that, it was pretty good. My little brother really liked it. The conductor and JR. were my favorite.

Summary: Thomas and the Magic Railroad
Review: I saw this movie three times with my son and I am definitely buying the video. My favorite character is Junior(Michael E. Rodgers). He is so adorable. Peter Fonda(Burnette Stone) did a fine job. Alec Baldwin is just great. My son also has all of the thomas story videos and his favorites are the ones narrated by Alec Baldwin. I recomend this movie to any body, Even if you don't have kids. I wish Sodor were real.

Summary: Magic Railroad
Review: This video is great for young children (about 2-3 years old). We have been watching it non-stop for 2 days now. My 3 year old son loves it. Animation is very simple, most older children may not like it.
