Summary: If I could give this movie a "black hole" I would
Review: Please explain to me the misdirected irony of this cartoon. I'm surpised and dismayed that the same production company that gave us "Prince of Egypt" could also dump a heavy handed, sodden piece of revisionist history on viewers. The havoc wreaked upon the indigenous people of the Americas by the Spaniards and Portuguese (look up "Line of Demarcation," folks, to see how the Church and Europe viewed the rest of the world) is nothing short of genocide. Whole societies were wiped out by veneral disease and a plethora of other virii. Let's not forget the amputations, torture and burnings-at-the-the-stake of so-called native heretics. The destruction of culture, language and beliefs, mathematics, astronomy, agriculture and architecture of the Meso-American cultures by Europeans was and remains an appalling legacy from which modern day Latin Americans still suffer. That this blot on the history of human kind has been so trivialized is distressing to this fourth-generation, Asian-American, Catholic school survivor, lliberalarts, graduate degreed individual. And so you don't misunderstand where I'm coming from, I loved "Dogma," and most movies that tee off the British and organized religious and political groups. Save your money and your time. Read a good book instead. There are lots of those to be found just a click away.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: I don't understand the reviews that this movie has gotten. I am a collector of Disney, I think they are the best, but this movie rivals that opinion. The story is good, the animation crystal clear and detailed, The songs enjoyable and the characters are unforgettable. There is a chemistry between the actors in their voices, but it was also drawn into the movie. This movie has made me laugh and cringe and gasp and sigh. I can not wait to buy it.

Summary: a solid, entertaining effort from Dreamworks Animation
Review: I still to this day do not understand the tepid response from the movie going public in regard to THE ROAD TO EL DORADO. Everything one wants in an animated movie is there: outstanding animation & visuals, solid storyline, great humor, and wonderful performances from the actors who voiced the various roles. My hat goes off to Jeffrey Katzenberg & Dreamworks Animation. I anxiously await the DVD(and hope it has all the extras that the PRINCE OF EGYPT DVD contained!).

Summary: Entertaining?, yes. Great? No Way!
Review: Dreamworks is trying again to compete with Disney on the animation department. This is not correct, they should do things different than Disney. This movie is funny, has great visuals and even has nice, but forgettable, songs. Elton John and Tim Rice did not reprissed their Lion King Success. Hans Zimmer didn't do it either. The story is not as good as The Liong King or Beauty and the Beast. I have to accept that the movie is better than Prince of Egypt but that doesn't make it a great movie. I hope Dreamworks makes better things from now on...

Summary: Waiting impatiently for the DVD!
Review: I am a very discriminating adult and an aspiring animator, and I thought The Road to El Dorado was fantastic! It was humorous, intelligent, and action-packed, with some of the finest animation Dreamworks Studios has to offer. I wasn't bored for a single second, and I even went back to the theatre to see it a second time. I thought the music was catchy, interesting, original and fun, and really suited the feel of the movie. Elton John writes perfectly wonderful music and Tim Rice is a great lyricist. There were two things I liked in particular. First, that the heroine Chel isn't a slender willow wand of a girl-a popular heroine depiction that encourages anorexia and bulemia at an early age. There's nothing sadder than a perfectly healthy seven year old girl who's "on a diet". I know. I've seen it. Chel is hippy and voluptuous with plenty of meat on her bones in a very Frazetta-style fashion-and she's also very attractive. What a way to insinuate that a girl can be sexy without being under one hundred pounds soaking wet. The second thing that struck me was the incredible animation of Miguel's face. Sure, Tulio was much "purtier", but it was Miguel's far more expressive face that held me transfixed. The range of emotions and expressions that showed on that face reminded me over and over again of the astounding magic of the animated medium and exactly why I'm working so hard to achieve it in my own life. Altogether, The Road to El Dorado was funny, interesting, and exciting and, as in everything Dreamworks has animated so far, visually breathtaking. I'm waiting eagerly for the DVD and I hope it'll have plenty of features and goodies on it for me to explore! On a more personal note, I have to admit I sort of envied Chel in this film-riding off with two attractive males all to herself-at least, for the time being. Of course, if I was in Chel's place, I'd have to say I'd favor Miguel over Tulio-but then, I've always been a bit of a fool for a pair of big green eyes on a guy! lol

Summary: A Great Movie as good as a Disney one
Review: This is a Wonderful movie. I saw it so many times that I can't even remember exactly how many. It is about friendship, love and compassion. Tulio and Miguel are friends and partner for an adventure: the search for the city of gold. They will face all the obstacles with success and find the most beautiful thing in the world: not gold but love...

Summary: A Wonderful Movie
Review: I thought this was a wonderful movie. It had humor and adventure and drama. I particularly liked the fact that the main focus of the movie was the friendship between Miguel and Tulio. Plus I liked the message of how success can be dangerous because it can make a person forget what is REALLY important.

I've seen this movie several times and I don't recall even one 'fart joke.'

Summary: The Most Entertaining Animated Movie Since "The Lion King"!!
Review: I've been to see it five times so far, and I'd gladly see it again. It is extremely entertaining and the animation is breathtaking! The humor is hilarious and the action is great! There is also alot of emotion to it, and I cried when Tulio and Miguel's friendship almost ended. The score and music was great, and I rushed out to buy the soundtrack. I enjoyed this film as much as The Lion King, and Disney had better watch their backs because DreamWorks has made a very impressive movie here. I highly recommend it to all age groups. On my fifth veiwing I saw it with a 3-year-old, an 8-year-old, a ten-year-old, and their 42-year-old father (I'm 15). All of them loved it and laughed at all the gags, proving that all age groups will enjoy this film. The next time you go to the movies, whether you have kids or not, The Road to El Dorado is probably the best film playing.
