Summary: Best movie I have seen in a long time!
Review: My Dog Skip is the heartwarming tale of a young outcast boy and his dog Skip, who teaches him more about life than most people did. Warner Brothers have given this movie a Disneyesque feel which makes this a movie that you can share with your family. Its a movie that I will want to see over and over again throughout the years. WARNING: if you don't own a dog, you will want to after seeing this movie! Highly recommended!

Summary: A real dog of a movie?
Review: I saw this movie onboard a plane on the way to New York. It must have been rather amusing to the flight attendants, walking down the aisle, seeing people looking up at the monitors, blubbering with tears running down their face. And I can tell you, that's exactly the way it was. A woman on my row had not "rented" the headset, so she couldn't listen in, and she kept asking me "what's happening, what's happening!". Once I could compose myself, I'd look around and see people just looking devastated. At the end, everyone would agree "great movie!". I had no idea about this movie going in, other than it might fill a few hours of the flight. This is a VERY GOOD movie, everyone. It tells a nice story, it envokes the era, it mixes in some complex themes (segregation, hometown hero goes to war and returns...?, loss). And, it does it all in a package that, Yes, the whole family can watch. As others have said, be prepared with your favorite box of tissue, this one will wreck you, and you'll like it.

Summary: DONT MISS THIS ONE!
Review: This is a story about a boy and his puppy and growing up being each others bestest buddies. To this day i always thought BABE was the best "animal" movie but not anymore. This one is a very enjoyable "family" movie that is suitable for all. being a dog owner i really appreciate the companionship a pet brings and the ending left me weak. Many in the theatre where i went to see this flick were in tears and it was a movie that entertained as well as touched ur heart. If u only see 1 movie this year do urself a favor and view my dog skip....u wont be sorry!

Summary: Dog owners beware ¿ this film requires a box of Kleenex
Review: I don't know what I expected when I went to see "My Dog Skip," but I did not expect a film this profoundly moving. I did OK through most of the film until the end, particularly during the last five minutes when I proceded to bawl uncontrollably. My wife and I immediately raced home to give our dog "rubbies" and take him for a walk in the park. That's the kind of impact it had on us.

Summary: Loved the film... and I don't have children!
Review: As the owner of a JRT, I had to go see this film on opening night! A wonderfully touching story about a boy and his best friend... truly a "coming of age" story with a lot of reminders about my own canine best friend. I would strongly recommend this film for adults and children, particularly since it does not end a.k.a "Old Yeller". The ending is realistic and bitter-sweet but not tragic or traumatic.

Summary: Good old Skip
Review: My Dog Skip is a wonderful story that takes you back to a time when a kid could be a kid. It's the tale between the shy young Willie and the dog who becomes his best friend and teacher. I saw My Dog Skip one day, the music score was excellent it made me feel apart of the story, I watched as young Wille struggled through the traumas of young adulthood and how he started to become a man it was his dog that helped him and stayed by his side. My Dog Skip does not contain negative things and it does not preach on the evils of things, it tries to convey the innocence of childhood and the dilemas of growing up in a time long gone by. Skip made me feel happy, amused and entertained the whole way through I felt the loss and the sadness Wille must have felt when skip became old. I found myself going back to watch My Dog Skip many times, even memorizing the last words of the narrator. My Dog Skip is a movie that I would recommend anyone to see, it has been a long time since any movie has made me feel so apart ot the story. I loved this movie I hope you will to

Summary: My Dog Skip - See it twice!
Review: My Dog Skip is a lovely, heartwarming tale (or tail, pardon the pun) about a misfit boy and his heroic dog. It is a coming-of-age story without all the usual Hollywood yukky adolescent "stuff." It's appropriate for kids, as well as adults, although the very young may be frightened by some things that happen to Skipper the Dog. I was amazed that Hollywood could release such a tender, heart-wrenching movie, devoid of blatent sexuality, in the year 2000. With the exeception of a few (and I mean just a few) expletives that probably earned it the PG rating, it is a really nice family film. I can't wait for it to be available on video and DVD from Amazon.

Summary: Some good surprises....
Review: This is a great movie. I am really quite "picky" about "things that don't work" in a film, and I couldn't find much wrong with this one.

+ The boy is much more "real" in this film than in "Malcom in the Middle", although I love that TV show. And having grown up as a 'only child' myself I really identified with the main human character in this one.

+ The movie is realistic... not a movie about animals doing very unrealistic things-- as, for example, was the TV series "Flipper".. geeze! "Skipper" does regular, ordinary doggie things... well, except for driving the car, but the mom is shown doing the actual driving, so they are not trying to tell you that a dog can drive a car :-)

+ The movie surprises you, or at least it did me. I suspected some kind of traumatic event in the dads's life as a reason he didn't want the boy to have the dog. Nope, didn't happen. I expected the 'bad news telegram' to come with notification that the boy's hero was killed in action. Didn't happen.

+ The movie 'hints' at social injustice without cramming it into your face. This happens with the little Black boy who throws the football(while the White grandmother or great-aunt) displays a look of dismay... and the quick shot of the Black kids in the balcony at the theater. The boy does mention segregation once, but the movie does not preach.

+ Good moral lessions... For example: bullies CAN be dealt with and won over! And there 'other' reasons for not wanting to be in war... other than being afraid of losing your own life.

A little kid sitting behind me started crying one time... and didn't stop until the end of the movie.. even though things got better in the plot for "Skipper" and his master :-)

Hey, unless you just hate dogs and 9-year-olds, I think you should like this one.
