Rating: Summary: Absolute perfection Review: Looking over some of the previous negative comments, I noticed two recurring threads: "boring" and "for kids." How sad it is that 17 years later, some people's attention spans have been so decimated that they have to have mindless action happening every single moment, or they write off the movie."E.T." is like "The Sixth Sense" "The 400 Blows" "Forbidden Games" "The Spirit of the Beehive" and other strange, wonderous films about the world of childhood. It is so perfectly shot, edited, scored, and acted, it seems to unfold in it's own parallel universe--it's completely spellbinding. To scoff at is as cheesy or "only for kids" is exactly the point: the movie is designed to sneak into the funny, scary, secret dreams you had as a kid, and ressurect them. (If you want to know how good "E.T." is, compare it to how badly Spielberg stumbled attempting the same themes and mood in "Hook.") As it stands, "E.T." ranks easily as one of the three best films of the 1980's; it will outlast most of the films of the 90's as well, and so on for as long as film exists.

Rating: Summary: Still a favorite after all these years Review: The first time I saw this movie, I was eight years old. Now at twenty-five, it still brings tears to my eyes. While, yes, the special effects may seem dated, the story is what really counts. The acting is the best I've ever seen by children. The direction leaves nothing to be desired. This movie will always be at the top of my favorites list.
Rating: Summary: Cute But Not A Classic Review: After not having seen this film in quite some time, I decided to sit down to watch it again several days ago. I saw E.T. for the first time when it was released in theaters years ago when I was quite young. Thinking back, I don't believe I got much of a kick out of this movie even back then. The acting is good, but the effects look a little dated compared to today's standards. This film has some flaws. These are some of the things that don't make sense: if E.T. is capable of telekinesis and self-healing, why can't he use telepathy to call home? When he is left behind by his comrades in the forest, it was obvious they knew they had left him behind--why didn't they return for him on their own? One more thing--when the investigators are traveling through the neighborhoods, how could they have possibly been able to track E.T. down? They obviously were picking up the conversations of people, but by what means? I'm sure other people have noticed this. The movie also gets a little slow near the end too. Besides that, this is an okay movie, but in no way a classic.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful video. All ages fun!!! Review: This video is what I call a classic. It is so touching forpeople of 7, like for people of 80. It is sooooo a wonderfullvideo. You can wacht it over and over again (I do. Specially the good bye part of Elliot and E.T.) The actors are the best and specially Henry Thomas that gives a great feeling to the hole story.
Rating: Summary: Must you ask? Review: This movie is a little childish I think. It should be a little more exciting because there are a lot of little kids who aren't interested in that type of stuff. Totally boring with a capital B....
Rating: Summary: An all time movie that puts you to sleep! Review: Come on, an alien that comes to earth? OUCH! And the lighting finger that can heal any cut or wound? It is boring! CapitalB-o-r-i-n-g!
Rating: Summary: When I saw this film I was deeply touched. Review: The movie is about compassion and children expressing true feelings from the heart. ET has the skill to draw these feelings from them, Ever since I saw the film , I have wanted to purchase a video of it for my son who was born in 1987. I have told him the story, but he has to see the video to share the heartfelt feelings with me. I feel deeply that all parents should share this movie with their children if they have a chance to do so. The movie definitely has a place in our children's upbringing. Personally I am a better person because of it.
Rating: Summary: I'll Be Right Here... Review: How can you describe a film that touches you from the age 5 and still has the same effect on you when your 13. Classic doesnt do E.T. justice. Et is more than a classic. Its more than a masterpiece. E.T. is more like a life altering expierence. Anyone reading this review who doesnt already own E.T. I strongly recommend you buy it. Go to the video store nearest you an purchase it. Its a superb film that was scrubbed out of an Oscar by Ghandi. E.T. was 100 times more deserving of an Oscar then Ghandi. E.T. is an expierence of a life time for you and your kids to come. Trust Me.
