Rating: Summary: Sandlot Review: It is funny, wholesome, non violent, very entertaining, no swear words which is good for all ages. The movie is a great piece of artistic talent.
Rating: Summary: Great movie for a gift ! Review: My aunt sent this to my son when he was 2. We live in France where baseball isn't played but he LOVED the movie. He's almost 6 and he's seen it at least 50 times. Now his 3 year old sister loves it. It's just a great story. I like it because is shows him my American culture.
Rating: Summary: An Unforgettable Movie: Lots of Warmth, Lots of Laughs Review: My review of the DVD will be biased because 'The Sandlot' is my all-time favorite. I generally enjoy movies that require deep thought and understanding, with intricate plots and extensive character development. 'The Sandlot' doesn't really fit what my standards of a Solid Good movie are, it's a fine exception. I bought the DVD mainly for its convenience (since I rarely use VHS),because - really - the movie in any form, would satisfy me. The Special Features didn't seem enough to be categorized as such (mainly just the trailers and one feauturette) but I didn't mind, because the movie is where it's at. I was born in the 80s, so I have no physical connection to the 60s, the decade in which the movie primarily takes place. And I was never (before this movie) particularly interested in baseball, the sport in which the story revolves. But none of that matters. The movie brings you to the decade, it brings you to the game. It's fun, warm-hearted, and relateable. Tom Guiry does an awesome job at portraying the insecure and seemingly geeky new kid Scotty Smalls. His character contrasts, yet agrees well with Mike Vitar's Bennie Rodriguiz, the cool kid, who doesn't need to try. I don't want to get into all the characters, they're all just so much fun. They lived one hell of a summer, one that I wish I could have lived. You can read other reviews for the story. I'm done. Rent it, buy it, or borrow it from me :)

I believe anybody who watches this movie can connect with it on some level. You just have to love the American Past Time.

Rating: Summary: FOR-EV-ER! Review: One of the single best baseball films of all time. Like another reviewer said, it's simple. That's what makes this movie so great. It doesn't matter if the audience is young or old, this movie has lasting quality because it speaks to the child in all of us. What young man didn't grow up loving and playing the game of Baseball? The story in this film draws the viewer in by telling the story in the perspective of the outcast character "Smalls" to teach the audience not about the game of baseball but rather the Love of Baseball. "Smalls" goes from the average outcast new kid to a member of the ragtag team by the end of the movie and all through it facing some of the worst challenges of any young boy. "Smalls" hits the first home run of his life, this then becomes the major plot point for the rest of the film. The ragtag group could simply knock on the door of the house to get their ball back but instead choose to face their bigger fear of retrieving their ball from the back yard residence of the beast, a giant dog. This film carries with it the theme every average kid growing up is also faced with that of moving to a new town, making new friends and ultimately making difficult decisions to challenge one's own worst fears and eventually become a better person for it. There's no real bad guy here just a group of young athletes who share a common ground with each other, The Sandlot. Together they face the odds, including a rival official company sponsored little league team and showing what the true meaning of Team Spirit is. "Squints" best sums up the lasting value of this film in one word, "FOREVER!"
Rating: Summary: Round up the kids! Review: One of those rare films, such as "The Princess Bride", that the entire family can watch and enjoy together. A very funny flick, marked by good all around performances. Karen Allen and Dennis Leary as a married couple are a hoot! Buy it, and watch it during the winter doldrums when boredom, and baseball withdrawal, are at their peak.
Rating: Summary: Best baseball movie ever!!! Review: Our family hosts a summer movie series when school is out. This year (2004) we decided to make the overall theme baseball. Sandlot was recommended to us by my son's baseball coach and it was hit. Out of all the movies we showed (Rookie, Rookie of the Year, Field of Dreams, Angels in the Outfield), Sandlot was the one they loved the most. From the hilarious scenes with the "Beast", the pool, and of course, the "chaw" scene, kids can relate easily with the characters. I could bore you with the synposis of the movie, but almost every review has that to some degree. What I can tell you is that twelve eight-year olds boys went nuts over this movie and I might mention that several parents stopped in early just to catch the end. It's truly an amazing film that your kids will watch over and over and over without getting bored because they just like the sandlot characters truly believe that "baseball is life."
Rating: Summary: A yesterday that today's kids will never know Review: SANDLOT is a story that nearly every kid over 25 years old can relate to. These characters are the epitome of you or the friends you spent every summer day with back before video games, computers, mp3s and many other modern commodities gave kids the excuse to not ride a bike or pick up a ball or bat on a beautiful 75 degree day.Consider it a lighter, funnier Stand By Me with great character depth. It's not just about baseball - it's about the pre-puberty innocence we either forgot about or occasionally long for.
Rating: Summary: One of the all-time greatest Review: The movie is a simple look back at how child hood summers should be spent amongst neighborhood boys. Many hilarious seens including the legend of the Beast and the crews confrontation with their across town "rival." Accompanied with a fantastic soundtrack featuring some of the greatest oldies hits, the movie just has a feel good sense to it. Highly recommended for kids and adults alike.
