Rating: Summary: really wonderful Review: This is one of my favorite movies ever. It portrays the book beautifully. The other two Anne movies don't follow the plot of the books and aren't as good but if you love Anne they are still worth watching. The actors are amazing, exactly how I picture Anne and Marilla and Matthew and Diana and Gilbert(cute!). You laugh, you cry. It's really wonderful cause I'm 15 and my moms 53 and we both love it. The music is so beautiful and really ties it together too. Read the books, watch the movies, get the soundtrack.
Rating: Summary: My favorite movie! Review: I have read all of the books by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and it was all because I watched this movie three years ago in class. This is a great movie for girls about 10-12. (I am 13). I you see the movie, make sure you also read the book. There is a new movie that just showed on PBS- good, but it didn't follow the books. Megan Follows is just how I would imagine Anne!
Rating: Summary: A Great Movie Review: This is a very good movie. There have been two other movies made about Anne of Green Gables, and as the first one it's is done very well. It is the story of a girl named Anne and her search for life... Watch the movie as a family, or by yourself. Then if you really like it get a copy of it, so you can watch it over and over again!
Rating: Summary: This is a movie for all kindred spirits - not just children! Review: There have been many screen adaptations of Anne of Green Gables, but there are none better than this one. Megan Follows captures the very spirit of Anne Shirley, while her co-stars (Colleen Dewhurst, Jonathan Crombie, Schuyler Grant and Richard Farnsworth) shine in their own roles. The scenery is as beautiful as the story. This is sold as a "children's film" but adults will love it as much as the kids (if not more). You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll rewind and watch it again. Long live Anne Shirley!
Rating: Summary: Anne Of Green Gables is a gift from the heart! Review: I have enjoyed Anne Of Green Gables from the first time I saw it. My mom still kids me on how my favorite part was when Anne broke her slate over Gilberts head. I loved the movie in its entirety. The costumes, the scenery, the dialogue, it was all beautiful. It brought me into a different world full of emotion. :) This is a must see for all ages. =)
Rating: Summary: Try it! You'll love Ann! (With an "e") Review: "And their she weaves by night and day, a magic web of colors gay, and she has heard a wisper say, 'A curse is on her if she stay!' to look down, on Camelot". This is the first of the poems that Anne Sheriley, the orphan from Cannada, resites so drematicly for us, but it is certinly not the last! Anne is a romantic 13 year old red head, sent to live with the Cupborts in Avolnley, on a farm called Green Gables, quite by accedent. At first, they want to send Anne back-or Morila does, anyhow-when it is descoverd that she is, in fact, not the boy they wanted. But after some time, this somewhat vein, poetic, romantic little girl growes on the Cupborts-epesialy Morila-and she is alowed to stay. From then on, it's a heart warming adeventure threw the life of the little orphan girl, Anne, from her bout with her looks, ("My red hair is a curse!") to her travles threw school, ("Three cheers for Anne Sherliey, .....!" I won't give it all away!)and socile life, (her "boosom friend", Diana Berry, and others) Anne continues to put a smile on your face. The decorative simplicity of Avlonly is lovely. If you've got some time to spend, I recomened this sweet, a bit funny, wholesome movie for yourself and, maybe a loved one. Try it out, you fall in love with this little red head, "the Anne girl"-Miss Anne Sherliey!
Rating: Summary: Very Moving! Another Superb Disney Movie! Review: Megan Follows does an excellent job playing the role of Anne Shirley. Her physical, and emotional appearances well fit the role of this character. She is spunky, outgoing, bubbly, and very personable. This movie inspired me to read the original timeless classic, and Disney hadn't changed a thing. Disney has done it again!
Rating: Summary: My absolute favorite Review: Anne of Green Gables is a wonderful family movie about an orphan girl, Anne Shirly. Anne starts out in life with a rough start. In a world where orphans are thought to have been cursed or meant bad luck to those around her, Anne is misunderstood and mistreated. People saw her as an orphan, and not the sweet girl she really was. It wasn't her fault her parents died. Finally, her dream above all dreams comes true-to be in a place where the people treat her kindly and with respect. She lived with people who loved her and saw her for who she was, not what she was. Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert where those people. She was no longer an orphan. I love this movie because it portrays the books so well. Even though they couldn't include everything from the books in the movie, they still did a great job. The photography was excellent, showing Prince Edward Island at it's best. The music accompaning the scenery made the movie even better. However, it was the cast of actors that made the movie what it was. Megan Follows as Anne, Colleen Dewhurst as Marilla, Richard Farnsworth as Matthew, Schuyler Grant as Diana, Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert Blythe (how Anne could be so mad at him for so long I cannot understand), and Patricia Hamilton as Rachel Lynde. I love this movie, and I love the books. It would certainly be a shame not to include this movie, or these books, in your collections.
Rating: Summary: An Instant Classic! Review: I was in high school when I first saw this film as part of the PBS Wonderworks television series. I loved it so much that I must have seen it a dozen times over a span of 2 months. This is an absolutely breath-taking adaptation of a classic children's novel. The flavour of turn-of-the century life is portrayed beautifully, and the film-makers captured the spirit and essence of the novel perfectly. This Canadian film was so beloved when it was first created in the mid-1980's that it was followed by an equally superb sequel, Anne of Avonlea, as well as a Disney Channel series about life in the town of Avonlea. This is the perfect family film - if you have not seen it yet, do not hesitate to rent this film! And if anyone working for Disney is reading this, PLEASE oh PLEASE release this film on DVD! Anne of Green Gables truly is the best non-animated film the Disney company has in their possession and deserves to be on DVD!
Rating: Summary: PLEASE come out with it on DVD! Review: One of the first books I read was Anne of Green Gables. I was named for Anne Shirley (Anne with an "e") and have cherished all the books. The adaptation with Megan Follows and Colleen Dewhurst is a loving and faithful adaptation of L.M. Montgomery's books.....Kevin Sullivan created two masterpieces--I only wish he had produced movies of "Anne of the Island" and the ones about Anne's kids.....We watch them over and over and over again and would LOVE to have them on DVD as well. PLEASE send word--bring it out on DVD, and soon!
