Summary: An Exciting Movie!
Review: I think this movie is the worst of the three in the series, although on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it an 8. I'd give the original a 10 and the third a 9. I still highly recommend it and the other two in the series.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Poor Sequel

Summary: What happened to Elizabeth?
Review: In my opnion, the first Karate Kid was by far the superior film. However, the different cultural setting and new characters in the 2nd do keep the movie interesting. Still, I agree with the question, what happened to Elizabeth Shue. Granted, she was a little over-weight in those days, but dang...it's Elizabeth Shue!

Summary: AS to the question what happen to Elizabeth
Review: It was Mentioned that She left him for a football player right after the fight. Ahhh doesn't make sense, but niether does part 3.

I think this is a ok sequel it ain't bad, but it ain't good either.

The storyline is pretty bad, but we get alot of good Cinema Moments that help this film.

still.... bad Sequel.

Summary: A good sequal to a great movie
Review: Karate Kid II is not as good as the first, but sequals
rarely are. Karate Kid II is very enjoyable. Some think
that part II and III should have been switched around, and
I agree with that. I think this would have been a better
end to the series, with a few minor changes maybe.
Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita give great performances
once again. Daniel and Miyagi are awesome characters. I
think it's cool how they were able to make a series
where two people so far apart in age are such great friends.
Anyway, in Karate Kid II, Daniel san and Miyagi go to Okinawa
after Miyagi gets word that his father has become very ill.
To make matters worse, Miyagi has a problem with Sato, his
former best friend. Really, Sato has a problem with Miyagi,
over an old girlfriend. Daniel ends up having a problem of his
own with Sato's nephew, Chozen. I can't recall the guy's name
that played Chozen, but I think he was awesome! Why didn't
he receive more roles?? It's a mystery to me. The last fight
could have been better, but it works. Great movie.

Summary: an oversight by the editors...
Review: Karate Kid II is not only the best of the series, it is a premier movie of the eighties. In the beginning it was only made to build upon the successful sequel theory, but this film was part of a greater movement; Kid II was instrumental in the popular acceptance of "Eastern" culture. For Asian-American children, it provided a springboard into popular white society and created a mystique and awe about anything Asian. For some, respect grew from the disciplined culture that was eloquently protrayed throughout Kid II. For many others, Asians were again equivocated with martial arts and respected for an element of the eyes. No matter what the initial reasonings for acceptance or respect, it did lead to a general perception that Asian culture was something to be admired and that if cross-bred with American culture, there could be a tremendously successful result. Karate Kid II plays on all the emotions of American capacity and is both sad and inspiring. If an editor chooses to dismiss any piece as only "for kids," then unfortunately his narrow sightedness will never allow him to write an article worth reading. Buy it. Watch it. Take it to heart.

Summary: A good sequel to one of the best movies
Review: Karate Kid II somewhat completes the first. It completes the first by showing us a little more of Mr. Miyagi life, his origins and his land, and also giving us a closer look at the origins of Karate. The film has a very good atmosphere, and a somewhat more oriental aspect than the first (no wonder, it happens in Okinawa). If you like martial arts, especially Karate, and want to see some great scenes of Okinawa (where it all began), watch this movie. The final fighting scene is very good, and this time Daniel fights for his life, not for points, this time he learns that this form of art was created for self-defence, not for winning a tournament. A great film if you want to explore more of Karate and Japanese tradition. I wonder if Macchio already practiced Karate. He seems to be right in every detail about it, and also isn't Miyagi the name of one of the founders of Goju-Ryu style Karate? A great film, you'll love it, especially the second time you watch it.

Summary: Live or Die Man............Honk. Oh dear..........
Review: Live or Die Man ? Personally I'd rather die than watch the ending of this film again. Awful, just awful. The film trots along nicely until it collapses into a cheesefest at the end with the most cringeable ending ever. Bring this out in narrowscreen so I don't have to see Daniel honking the other guys nose. Absolute garbage. Snot funny either.

Summary: The Glory of Good FUN !
Review: Making this happy if sappy sequel to THE KARATE KID quite appealing are the timeless, immutable qualities carried, generation to generation, to and through every human heart: Love; Forgiveness; Mercy; Compassion; Remorse and other good, great from age to age, emotions. Daniel's Antagonist does as effective a job of rousing the deep, powerful and positive feelings from within him - and us - as does that of Mr. Miyagi's. If plot devices such as the bamboo rattles and farcical final confrontation with a Bully able to have already killed Daniel, DEAD, look trite, remember they exist to give us a brief glimpse into a refined, advanced culture flourishing millennia before ours. Keep in mind that condemning KARATE KID part 2 for so-called "silly" elements within is, in fact, far from as disgusting and tasteless as any of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE "movies". My bottom line being, KARATE KID part 2 is Super Stuff ! Rent (or buy) it today !
