Summary: Probably the BEST MUSICAL ever Filmed!
Review: Not too much can be added that has not already been said about this 1961 classic. The dances, the songs, the New York locations, and the very talented young cast, have all been lauded for years as flawlessly executed. Wood, Beymer, Chakiris, and Moreno have long been praised for their contributions to this monumental film.

All that can be added is praise for Russ Tamblyn, who seems to have been forgotten in his pivotal role of Riff, the baddest of the Jets. His cocky demeanor and brilliant dance "attitude" are magnificent to behold.

He puts the "C" in cool!

Summary: A Timeless Classic Caught Forever!
Review: Sondheim is awesome! And if you disagree, I'm sorry, but I pity you! Every single one of his shows have great music, but they also have an extra oomph. The shows are all powerful, whether it's easy to justify what that meaning is or not, it's there, and that's what makes Sondheim and many other composers great!

This is wonderful cast of people that perform a great show as well as the show deserves to be performed! Tony is played wonderfully! Each musical number is done perfectly and flawlessly! The acting is also high up there!

All who love Sonheim will love this! Enjoy!

Summary: And the winner is....
Review: When I first saw West Side Story I cried. When I watch the video now, I still get misty eyed. Somehow in spite of what some people say,the film is not dated, and probably never will be. Is definitly in my personal top ten films of all time. Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer are wonderful as Maria and Tony(And who cares if they didnt sing! ) and what can you say about Rita Moreno and George Chakiris! Brilliant brilliant brilliant! I have stood on the plaza at Lincoln Center and 'listened' to the score and imagined the dancers there.(Construction was delayed so that Jerome Robbins could film the dance sequences, I understand. When the movie first went on television the tag line was "unlike some other musicals,West Side Story grows younger",and its true. It will always have a special feel and meaning to me!

Summary: VERY GOOD MOVIE
Review: When I first heard of this movie i was about 7 (I'm now 13) my first reaction was eew, how boring. How very wrong i was! I the choir i'm in we sang "America" for a concert and my grandmother almost forced me to watch the movie. My first oppinion hadn't changed that much but as i got through the first 20 minutes i saw that this wasn't a boring movie. This is one of the best movies i've ever seen in my life. you may think that just because i'm a teen, i don't really understand it, i DO! I've seen this movie soo much within the last few months, yet i still get goose bumps like the first time i ever watched it. the music was also very AMAZING!

Summary: A Timeless Masterpiece
Review: I loved every part of this movie and I am only 14 years old. All of my friends think I am crazy for liking it but I do. The best parts are the brilliant songs I love all of them and the ending because I have seen it 5 times and I cried at every one. Let me just say that all the actors especally Richard Beymer, George Chirikas, Rita Merano, and Natalie Wood do an excellent job and this will be my favorite movie for all time.

Summary: Rita, Rita, Rita! And let's not forget Bernstein's music
Review: Ignore the dated daddy-o language, and try to remember what an impact this show made back when it premiered. How different this was from Oklahoma!, not just in its portrayal of something grittier than audiences had seen, but the still very potent depiction of racism. But let's remember Bernstein's incredible music (yes, the Sondheim lyrics can be corny, but its no matter) still so fresh and alive. No wonder Jerome Robbins was inspired to his BRILLIANT choreography by this music, and what grateful parts to sing. Special mention goes to Rita Moreno who is completely electrifying every moment she is onscreen. What a cliche to say someone lights up the screen, but she absolutely bursts out of your tv with light and fire. Her face is full of such rapturous joy which you also see in her dancing and hear in her singing. Truly spectacular.

Summary: Classic
Review: This is a classic must see movie. If you like musicals, then you should love this movie. The music and the dance and singing performances are great, as well as the story line. It is one of the best love stories of all time. West Side Story is not quite as good as The Sound of Music, but it is still one of the best movies of all time.

Summary: Watch this "Somewhere" "Tonight," it's "Cool boy, real cool"
Review: Without a doubt this is one of the top five movies musicals of all time, if not number one. The score, the choreography, the direction, the performances, all of them are flawless. The screen play improves greatly upon the original show's book and is much tighter. This is a true work of art, and one that will be remembered for years to come. I could go on and on about how great it is, but it is much easier to simply say: "Buy it, you wont regret it."

Summary: it was a good movie but...
Review: It was a good movie but it was not the best ever therefore it doesn't deserve 5 stars. The songs and dances such as "America" and the "Act cool" song were really good because it stuck in peoples heads However it can't really be called a Romeo and Juliet movie because if it was it would require both "star crossed lovers" to die in the film which did not happen.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: By far the greatest musical of all time
Review: I loved this movie! It made me laugh and it made me cry! It had amazing songs (most notably: "Maria", "America", and "Cool," and "Tonight.") The dancing is great as well! Great performances all around! This is definitely one of my Top 10 movies. There really isn't much more to say except for go buy it! You won't be disappointed!
