Summary: What a glad movie
Review: I was a bit nervous seeing this movie as I was scared it was going to live up to it's title and be way too sugary sweet. I was pleasnatly surprised and even moved afterwards.

Pollyanna is a delightful movie that lifts the spirits and provides many life lessons without ever being preachy or feeling like a school lesson. I was genuinely entertained and even a bit surprised at the bold steps the movie takes. Would you think this movie features a preacher most everyone fears, or has a bittersweet ending? I thought not. Well there's plenty more here to surprise you. Just give it a chance.

About the only thing I fault the movie for is being a bit too long. Some scenes just seem to go on and on, but that's what chapter stops and the fast forward button are for.

As for the DVD presentation, it's terrific. The movie looks and sounds stunning plus the second disc is just jammed packed with extra material. I was excited to listen to the commentary, but sadly it's as sugary and full of fake emotion as the movie is not. Still the other bonuses are well worth the extra bucks and there will probably never be a better presentation of Pollyanna.

Summary: A Touching, Moving Film!
Review: I was horrified when I saw this movie version of the book. They changed everything about the characters except their names. Yes, Pollyanna is glad, but it fails to capture the essence of her struggle to be glad when she is faced with so much adversity. Miss Polly is not ruthless and conniving and does not influence the town as depicted in the movie. She is struggling herself, which is where Pollyanna comes into the picture. My children were flabbergasted at seeing this film. They knew the characters and these were *not* them. The plot is so skewed that you will miss it if you see this film. Do yourselves a favor and get the BBC version, or better yet, read the book. It is truly a delightful story that you will cherish.

Summary: It touched the heart and made you laugh at the same time.
Review: I watched Pollyanna for the first time when I was 6 years old I still love the movie. I hope that when I have kids they will enjoy this movie as much as I do. Hayley Mills did a wonderful job and I have a bunch of other movies with her in them. She is a great actress and I hope that she makes another movie soon.

Summary: A true Rainbow making Movie!
Review: I watched this film when I was eight years old and, I truly loved it right from the start. Sadly By the age of eight I lost this movie and I began to hate it! I guess I was to foolish and blind folded to realise what the whole point is. I completely took this movie out of my Disney Collection at home. Then several years later I turned Twelve. I started thinking, and I said to myself, " I want to see Pollyanna," and I kept saying that over and over. Then I was walking along in Wal*Mart and I went over to the electronics and, I was looking at the Vault Disney Collections. And guess what, I saw Pollyanna! The movie cost $, but it was worth far more than that. When I got home I watched it again, and again and, it will always have a place in my heart. I realised that I was a foolish little child, with no feelings. I'm so glad that I found this movie and you will be to. So if you were once a foolish little child and you gave up on this film, give it a second chance and you will fall in love with it all over again. As I said this is a true Rainbow Making Movie!

Summary: A feel-good Disney movie that makes you smile.
Review: I watched this movie again after 25 years and it really brought some great memories back to me. I was suprirsed how much of the movie I remembered. Hayley Mills is just as transfixing a heroine as shew as when I was a girl of 10. This is such a fun movie. I remember looking up to the character Pollyanna when I was a kid. I still do!

Summary: Great DVD set to a great movie.
Review: I'm a Hayley Mills fan and have been waiting for a DVD release of her Disney films but expected nothing like this. The Pollyanna 2 DVD set contains not only the movie but commentary, how the film was made, secrets and interviews with some of the cast. Highly recommended purchase. Well worth it.

Summary: A Glad movie
Review: If you have never seen Pollyanna you are missing a treat. Pollyanna, an orphaned girl, breathes life and fun back into her mother's home town. With her Glad Game where she finds something good in everything (even when the worst happens) she brings smiles and joy to the hearts of viewers. This is a wonderful movie for families to watch and has a wonderful message of hope even in the most trying circumstances. I highly recommend parents watch this with their children. It will bring a smile to their faces and laughter to their lips.

Summary: An Extraordinary Family Film
Review: If you seek the good in people, you shall surely find it.

POLLYANNA is one of those Disney Classics vaguely recalled from the old "Wonderful Word of Color" Sunday night specials. Yet it is a film which can be appreciated by audiences of all ages.

The performances are genuine, the timing of the film is gently paced, yet the film rarely drags as do some so-called family films of later vintage. Hayley Mills give a fine performance in the starring role, however the movie truly shines in the stellar performances of its capable cast. Karl Malden, as the fire and brimstone preacher, gives one of the most poignant performances as he realizes the importance of finding the good in people.

Some may find some aspects of the film a little syrupy. However, its message of optimism is one that plays well even after many years. It is a message that should be reinforced in the hearts and minds of today's audiences.

Summary: Hayley Mills is the BEST
Review: If you thought Shirley Temple was an great child star, wait 'til you see Hayley Mills' performance in one of the most wonderful movies I've ever watched : Pollyanna. Hayley makes her first appearance in a Disney movie in this lovely story about a little orphan girl sent to live in Harrington with her aunt Polly, who controls the town founded by her family. In living there Pollyanna preaches the gladness of the heart and bring it into those of most cross townspeople. Everyone is pefect in their performance, especially Miss Mills' who even won an Oscar for hers. Disney really has the formula when it comes to family films and this one proves it while sending out a very positive message. Hayley Mills is one of my very favorite actresses and this movie is a tear-jerker even for someone (me) who only once cried in 2 movies including this one. It is purely WONDERFUL.

This movie is part of a The Walt Disney Classics' Hayley Mills Collection with The Parent Trap, That Darn Cat!, Summer Magic & The Moon-Spinners which are all as fubulous as this one. This collection should be completed, though, because the other Disney movie she did : "In Search Of The Castaways" with Maurice Chevalier, is missing.

I think POLLYANNA is her best work! BUY it and you won't regret it!
