Summary: My Kids Loved It!!
Review: My girls got this video for Easter and they loved it!! This veggie video contains all of what we've come to expect from the veggies, a great story line, with humor, songs, and a moral that kids can understand. The moral of this video: sharing helps you make friends! I was disappointed with Esther and King George and it was so good to see Bob, Larry and all of the Veggies back!! Great Job Big Idea!

Summary: Shakespeare, Gilbert & Sullivan, and a high silk hat
Review: When Archibald Asparagus takes the lead in the new VeggieTales production (focused on sharing), it is with the aim of making the show more serious and high minded. Fortunuately for us, the viewers, it makes it sillier than ever. Hoorah!We start with a rendition of Shakespeare's not-so-famous play, "Omelet." We enjoy some amusing variations on well known lines, including "2B?" "Not 2B"--in the context of Battleship. The french peas are particularly endearing. The standard Silly Song With Larry has been replaced by a Classy Song With Larry at Archibald's request, having a couple strong resemblances to Forrest Gump. The title story, "Lyle the Kindly Viking", features an adorable Junior Asparagus as Lyle, the potholder-making, warbley-singing little viking boy. Larry the Cucumber is also amusing as Sven, who has a difficult time grasping the fact that, though this is a musical (this is where Gilbert & Sullivan come in), he doesn't have to sing EVERYTHING. Everything about this VeggieTales is charming, hilarious, and filled with the kind of values that make the series so popular. The DVD is even better than the VHS, because in addition to the improved video and sound quality, we also get an interview with the creators, a wide screen version of Larry's song, and a storyboard comparison. Either way you go, the animation is high quality, the songs are catchy, and it's loads of fun!

Summary: They're Back
Review: With Esther, I was afraid that Veggietales had finished its run of classic comedy films. But Lyle the Kindly Viking brings back the hilarity with two great stories on sharing (and a classy silly song) that my kids and I love. Like Esther, this has great amination and a good biblical story and unlike Esther this one is funny and has great songs, lots of Bob and Larry and Jimmy and Jerry. Highly recommended for all ages.

Summary: Moral of the Video: "Sharing gets you more friends"
Review: Claiming to be a lost musical of Gilbert and Sullivan, Lyle the Kindly Viking tells of a band of Vikings who maraud a nearby monastery. Lyle, the kindly Viking, not only doesn't steal but returns some of the stolen goods to the monks. The Viking leader wonders why in a bluesy-style song: "What's up with Lyle? I'm telling you that boy doesn't fit the Viking style..." Mean while Lyle sneaks stuff to the monks, singing: "Dear monks, dear monks, what can I say my friends have taken your things away. I've come to bring some back to you." While Lyle is returning things to the monks the Viking leader comes after him and intends to leave him stranded at sea. A sudden storm, however (reminiscent of the movie, "The Perfect Storm") washes everyone overboard. The monks save Lyle's life, and -- after some convincing from Lyle -- saves the other Vikings, too. The moral: They were saved because Lyle had made friends with them and shared. A fun, hum-able song follows -- "When we share we get our share of friends." So the Vikings change their theme, from "We're Vikings, terrors of the seas" to "We're Vikings, sharers of the sea." The video features a hilarious "Classy Songs with Larry" , a short clip that spoofs Shakespeare's Hamlet (when two characters are playing battleship, one says, "2-B?" and the other replies, "No 2-B") and outstanding music throughout. The Veggie Tales people get even more creative with time.

Summary: Lyle Brings Veggies Back From The Brink
Review: Okay, I have to admit that when I watched Esther and only laughed like 3 times I was sacred that Big Idea had lost the big idea. But not so. LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING takes us back to the good old veggie days. THe songs are silly, the jokes are funny and the plot hillarious. AS Archibald takes over to add a highbrow attitude to the show we find the play Omlet featuring my favorites: THE GOURDS! It is way funny! Then the lost Goilbert and Sullivan operetta LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING is discovered. Another halarious romp. This is the first Veggie DVD and it is a nice attempt. I am sure there will be more special features to come. The storyboard speecial feature was a little lame but the interviews are nice. THe widescreen silly song was an interesting choice....END

Summary: Veggie Tales!
Review: Veggie Tapes is one of the best shows out there for kids of all ages. Not only does it provide solid values for children, Veggie Tales also provides humor with its fun loving cast, and creative adaptions to the Bible stories. In summery, Veggie Tales is "Sunday morning values, Saturday morning fun". Any episode you can get your hands on will be wonderful. I assure you.

Summary: Entertainment for the young and old!
Review: The first time I watched this, I laughed so hard-- even better, my then five-month-old son giggled his little heart out when "Endangered Love" started! That song happens to be my favorite from this collection and I feel that it should have been #1 instead of #10, but I won't get into that. All in all, the whole DVD is entertaining although I do tend to skip past the initial bit about the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. This DVD has proven to be a surefire way to cheer up my baby (now one and a half!) and I recommend it to anyone with small children or anyone who can appreciate a good Silly Song! My family's favorite songs: Endangered Love, His Cheeseburger, and Love My Lips.

Summary: Astonishing Contraption of Silliness
Review: My children (ages 12, 9, and 2) watched and watched this DVD on our trip this summer. Even I know all the songs by heart. It was great and the only thing that would keep my 2 year old quiet and not drive the older kids crazy for 2500 miles!
Yes, the songs are very silly, but that's the point. It's a lot of fun.
