Rating: Summary: Great, Stress-Relieving Entertainment Review: The Muppet Movie is where the Muppets started! This magical tale can be watched over and over again and never get old. Here are some of the highlights of the film that keep me watching it: - When Kermit first meets Fozzie Bear in a dingy cafe - The wonderful songs, my personal favorite being the Electric Mayhem's "Can You Picture That?" - Animal (reason enough, right?) the crazy drummer for the Electric Mayhem - The road trip (makes you feel like you're on a trip too) - MISS PIGGY, being herself (If you don't know who Miss Piggy is or have never watched a Muppet show you have GOT to buy this DVD just to see her!)Those are just a few things I love about this show. I don't think you'll be dissapointed if you give the Muppets a chance! I also recommend all the other shows in the Muppet Feature Film series.
Rating: Summary: Excellent movie, awful DVD Review: THE MUPPET MOVIE is a classic. It is enjoyable by all ages. Sony Columbia's DVD release of THE MUPPET MOVIE does it little justice. On the plus side, a widescreen version of the film is offered, so the entire picture can be seen. But, the bad things: This DVD has only one extra, a camera test. This is actually very entertaining, and a worthy special feature. Some Muppetisms and trailers are included, but they are not any good. There is so much that could have been done for this DVD release. The picture quality is awful, scratches, dirt and grain are everywhere. Where is the original theatrical trailer? Where is the TV special that promoted the film, "THE MUPPETS GO HOLLYWOOD"? Where are the audio commentary and interviews? If Columbia decides to re-release a Special Edition, I will be first in line.
Rating: Summary: A classic for kids and adults Review: The Muppet Movie is a classic movie that shows how Jim Henson's Muppets made it big. The story begins with Kermit the Frog sitting on a log in a swamp when a Hollywood agent finds him and tells him to go to Hollywood for a casting call for frogs. Kermit hits the road and along the way picks up plenty of new friends while also running into some trouble. The evil Doc Hopper wants Kermit to be his spokesperson for his new frog legs restaurant, but Kermit refuses. Along the way to Hollywood, Kermit meets Fozzie the Bear, Miss Piggie, Gonzo the Great and many others. This is a great movie that has humor for both kids and adults. There are very funny parts that intermingle the talents of many real movie stars in small cameos. All the Muppets are here from Kermit to Miss Piggie, Fozzie, Gonzo, Rolf the dog, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, Dr. Munson Honeydew and Beaker, and many others. There are plenty of cameos including Edgar Bergen, Milton Berle, Mel Brooks, James Coburn, Dom Deluise, Elliot Gould, Bob Hope, Madeline Kahn, Carol Kane, Cloris Leachman, Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, Telly Savalas, Orson Welles, and Paul Williams. Steve Martin and Mel Brooks are the funniest as a sarcastic waiter and a mad scientist. Charles Durning is also very good as Doc Hopper with his bumbling assistant, Max played by Austin Pendleton. Fans of the Muppets of all ages with love this classic about how the Muppets came to be!
Rating: Summary: Magic Review: I honestly don't know how many times I've watched this movie over the past twenty-four years. I remember seeing it in the theaters several times the summer it was first released, probably the only movie I could ever say that about. Since that summer I have watched it countless times, and even though I obviously already know how things are going to turn out, I still enjoy every viewing as much as the first. It never ceases to amaze me how well this movie was made. I love the way they introduced each character to the plot, and how everyone had their own, distinct personality. The list of guest stars was an amazing achievement in itself. But my favorite part of the whole movie was that Studebaker. I can't believe that so many years later I still dream of owning a car just like that one, and it's all because of this movie. It always struck me as really sad that they left that car behind after only nineteen minutes of the movie. I still enjoy listening to the soundtrack. So many catchy, unforgettable songs. Magic. Simply magic. I could listen to Rainbow Connection over and over. I've seen several of the other Muppet movies done since this one, but somehow even the good ones just don't measure up to this one. They found a magic that they were never able to duplicate, and which is absent in so many other movies, as well. Each time I watch it, I can't believe how disappointing it is to have the movie end. I have to admit that I was very disappointed with the DVD extras. There really didn't seem to be any point to having them, and I wouldn't have missed them had they not been there. I believe next year is going to be the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Muppet Movie, so maybe they can come out with some special edition. That would work for me.
Rating: Summary: Muppet Movie Mayhem Review: I first saw this movie when I was nothing but a toddler, and I still vividly remember laughing along with the characters the same way I still do now. The DVD is well done and the addition of some trailers, "Muppetisms," and rare footage make it even more intriguing.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest films of my childhood Review: I don't care if I'm 22 or not,I just love this film. The Muppet Movie si the best of the Muppet films,it's funny, cute, charming and just plain fun to watch.Filled with cameos from some of Hollywood's best and with some of the best songs like my favourite which is The Rainbow Connection sung by Kermit and the begining of the film. The film as some very memorable lines but the most memorable are Kermit's at the end "Life's like a movie, write your own ending."The Muppet films aren't as good as they were in the past,so just watch the first three Muppet films and love them.Jim Henson will always be a genuis and will always be Kermit The Frog.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful movie Review: This is a classic movie that I enjoyed as a kid, but when I watch it as an adult I enjoy it even more because there are so many jokes I never got the first few times around. It's really sharp and witty, with a wonderful heart. I wish this were available on region 2 DVD. You are so lucky to be able to have this title available. PLEASE MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO EUROPEAN FANS AS WELL! WE LOVE THE MUPPETS TOO! Rant over. This is a lovely film.
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece! Review: I've bought the DVD of this movie cause i'm a Jim Henson fan, the movie itself is a classic family epic that tells about Kermit the Frog traveling from the swamps of Georgia to Hollywood, along the way he meets new friends and get into many hilarious situations. Very entertaining and magical flick that is a sure fun good time for all ages, also has a meaning. The DVD is not too bad but does have a short feature with Kermit and Fozzy, This is the second best muppet movie next to " Muppets Take Manhatten".
Rating: Summary: Classic! Review: This movie is a classic, and all of it is gold, from the very beginning, where we find Kermit singing alone in the swamp, to the very end, a version of that same theme. This film can still move me easily with its themes and humor, though I have seen it countless times before.
Rating: Summary: Fun for everyone Review: The fun satirical "animated" comedy that is The Muppet Movie, can easily be considered the mother of all cartoon comedy to come (that includes the simpsons). The smart witty humor is some of the best of all time. The songs are amazing, and the fact that this is the story of how the gang first got together makes it all worth it all. Not only is the Muppet Movie a jewel that we all treasured as kids, but its also a movie that made our parents laugh, since a lot of the jokes are out of reach of children understanding, therefore making it safe comedy for all the family. Along this DVD you get a 13min+ screen test that is truly hilarious and 3 modern day tv spots, somewhat fun. If you dont remember this movie, then i recommend not missing out, if youve never seen it, trust me, youre missing out.
