Rating: Summary: Irritating and poor value Review: Cheap amateur production, poor value for money at only 30min runtime. Narrator has very irritating voice. Repetitive. Any home video would be more entertaining.
Rating: Summary: YIKES Review: I agree with the one-star review. My 10 month old son hated this.
Rating: Summary: A great addition to our library! Review: I bought this dvd based on a friend's recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. My 15-month old son adores this video. He doesn't usually make it through a whole video without getting bored or distracted, but Horatio (a lion) really holds his attention. The video has a cute main character, a colorful background, soothing music, and educational segments that transition from one to another with cute animation. This is definitely not a Pixar production, but my son likes it and that's what really matters. Horatio just seem to capture his attention.
What I like about this video is that its not just toys dancing to music. I know that he is learning from it, so I feel comfortable letting him watch it again and again.
It is a welcome addition to our dvd library!
Rating: Summary: My Daughter's Favorite! Review: It was love at first sight for my 15 month old daughter. Horatio has become her favorite. When I play the video for her I know that she is enjoying herself, being entertained, and learning. She talks back to the tv - she can name the colors and the animals. She loves when all the balloons appear and fly away. We just had our first snow and she knew what it was from Horatio. She waves hi and bye to the children in the video.
I love any product that can make my child react the way she does! I highly recommend this video.
Rating: Summary: Hip Hip Horatio!!! Review: Move over Elmo....my daughter has a new love. Horatio is absolutely her favorite video! She started watching it at 6 months of age, and she is now 16 months old and still gets excited when we put it in the player. She counts along with Horatio, knows EVERY color from the video, learned shapes and animals...and she just turned 16 months. I know for a fact she learned how to say "hi" from it. I find the Einstein videos interesting, but my daughter hasn't learned anything from them... other than to sit and stare for a half hour almost in a trance. I guess that's O.K. for some parents, but for us, if she's going to watch T.V., it better be educational. I can absolutely say, that this is EDUCATIONAL. I hope the creator makes a follow up video.. he obviously knows what children like!
Rating: Summary: My daughter can't seem to get enough! Review: My 15 month old has all the basics - Einstein, Sesame Street, Barney, etc... so I was happy to come across Horatio, who I had never seen before. My daughter interacts with this video. She loves the scenes with the other children and she waves hi and bye to them at the beginning and end of the video. She also laughs every time Horatio says peek-a-boo.
I also feel like this video is trying to teach basic concepts rather then being all about infant eye candy.
I really recommend this video. My daughter can't seem to get enough!
Rating: Summary: My son loves it! Review: My 15 month old son is Horatio's biggest fan. He smiles and gets so excited the minute Horatio walks on the screen. The character, music, and songs are all very baby-friendly. The concepts of counting, shapes, and colors are presented in a fun way. He likes to see the other children on TV and especially loves to see all of the animals. When he watches the video, I know that he is not only being entertained, but also learning.
As a parent I like the educational aspect of the video. My son is interacting with the tv, not going into a trance. The mix of a puppet, animation, live children, and classical music holds my son's interest. I highly recommend this video!
Rating: Summary: Captivating! Review: My 16 month old son is captivated by this video. He wants to watch it over and over. Not only is this video entertaining to him, but he interacts with the video as well. He points to the animals and claps with the other children, waves hi & bye and laughs every time he sees peek-a-boo!
I agree with the below reviewer that this isn't a Pixar production and the character's voice is definitely one for kids. But my son loves the character and I feel like he is learning from the video. And to me that is the most important thing!
Rating: Summary: My son is a big fan! Review: My 17 month old son is a big fan of Horatio! He can't get enough of this video. He is always asking to watch the lion. This video isn't as fancy as some of the others, but my son is really drawn to the character!
The video teaches a lot of concepts, which is nice. It's always nice to see him learning from a video. I notice that he interacts with this video as well. Clapping with the kids, waving hi & bye. It's pretty amazing.
I definitely recommend this video. Probably best for babies from 10 months to 2 ½ years.
Rating: Summary: My Twins love this video! Review: My twin daughters(18 months)absolutely love this video. When I put it on for them, they are drawn to the TV. It really holds their attention. The lion is very cute and friendly, the colors in the video are bright and cheery, and the music is soothing.
What I love most about the video is that my daughters are not just staring at the TV - they actually respond. They giggle when Horatio does peek-a-boo, wave when Horatio waves hi, and dance along with the other children in the video.
Horatio is terrific!
