Summary: Not worth the paper she was drawn on
Review: Historical inaccuracies aside.....was there any need for a second movie?
Frankly, this is right up there with Sister Act II as far as unnecessary sequels go.
If I were you, I'd spend my afternoon or evening going for a walk or reading a good book instead. You'll appreciate the memories.

That's all.

Summary: Okay, but....
Review: I am one of the few that absolutely LOVED Pocahontas 1. The history people freaked out, but I say, it's just a cartoon, get a life, and go out and teach what really happened to the kids. The rest of us already know, and it's never too early to start teaching history. The main problem with this movie is they tried to have 2 heroes. They completely changed John Smith's personality. I have a whole list of reasons of why Pocahontas THINKS she loves John Rolfe. It's just not fair! Watch P1 and then P2 right after it. You will be outraged, even if you hate P1!! They need to have a Pocahontas 3 to fix everything, but it seems the end of P2 was pretty final. So I think I'm going to write a P3 in story form. Email me if you seriously want me to write it. It's all in the name of fun and all the characters still belong to Disney, etc., just think of it as unofficial fan fiction--I'm not trying to infringe on copyrights or anything here. Final Judgment: I'm going to buy this movie to add it to my Disney collection. But if you aren't like me and just want to know if it's good, then: this movie has really, really, really funny parts. I cracked up so many times. It does have a couple of animation problems that looked kinda stupid, but hey, I'm not claiming to be an animator. All in all, though, it's really funny and pretty good except for the 2 heroes thing, the character change, and the ending. ESPECIALLY the ending!

Summary: This Movie Is OK! The First was WAAAYY BETTER!
Review: I do not dislike this movie. It could have been put together better. The songs were ok as well. The first song was the best and that was it... I think it is just an OK MOVIE AND COULD HAVE BEEN PUT TOGETHER WAY BETTER! THANX!

Summary: Buy Pocahontas 1
Review: I give this movie 2 stars because it IS Disney and it IS Pocahontas. I am one of the few people who love Pocahontas 1. Now before we go any further I would like to say that all those people who are talking about the story being untrue should SHUT THE HELL UP! This is a children's movie NOT a history lesson. If movies have to be educational then we would have NO movies left. For example where is the historical correctness in Titanic? Does Star Wars even have a serious massage other than fairytale and other unrealistic things? Any movie which tries to tell a story which happened a long time ago WILL have something that can not fit. I mean it happened a long time ago. Who knows what really happened? And to those people who dare say that Pocahontas was ugly. Where from do you know that? And just what is beauty and ugliness? The concept of beauty has changed a lot since Pocahontas's time. (I happen to know for a fact that Pocahontas was considered a very beautiful woman in her time! ) Besides no animated movies could ever be made after a real story if it should be oh so correct. What kind of parent would for example take his child to see Hercules if the "real" story was told? The "real" story of Hercules is so violent that the movie would be R rated. And besides history is something that the children learn in school NOT in the cinemas because if they do then we have a problem. Our "poor" kids would go around believing that the Russian Revolution was in the wrong year (Anastasia), that Iron Giants visit Earth from outer space (The iron Giant) and that there is an alien on Earth by the name of Superman (from Superman). Give me a break. Our kids are not THAT stupid and neither are I believe our teachers whose responsibility history lessons are. About Pocahontas 2: The good things: - As always good songs and good animation. - Fine voices. The bad tings: - The characters are out of place. - Especially John Smith, a character who I just loves, was terrible misused. He changes personality so completely that it can not BE the same man. - As I have argued for above then a cartoon is NOT a history lesson. The story should be true to Pocahontas 1 not the "real" story. Pocahontas and John Smith's love was forever and nothing can change that. Pocahontas should stay with John Smith. He is so much better than John Ralfe is. - Where is the love in this story? What ever happened to: "No matter what happens to me, I will always be with you - forever!" And now Pocahontas falls in love with John Ralfe, unbelievable! John Smith and Pocahontas belong together. They love each other. Not Poca and Ralfe. That is all wrong. Basically this video looks like Disney's attempt to please the critics of the first movie. But apparently they are not pleased that easily. I believe that it was a mistake to try to please the critics. Just make the movies the way YOU want to (Disney) and forget about what people will say. The basis line is that you should always: STAY TRUE TO THE STORY THAT YOU FIRST MADE. If you (Disney) had done that this could be a fantastic movie. As of now I am still not over the shock of seeing Pocahontas with another man. How could she? How could you? Pocahontas and John Smith forever! There, that's much better.

Summary: looking through the eyes of a child
Review: I guess I don't look at the techical aspects of these Disney movies. I look at how my daughter responds to them. She loved Pocahontas and became so interested that we took her to Jamestown. She loved that too. As for Pocahontas II, I think she would have been just as happy with it no matter what the ending was. It kind of helped that Pocahontas ended up with John Rolfe in the movie--try explaining to a 4 year old who has only seen the first one that in real life she married John Rolfe, not John Smith. Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with the movies not being historically accurate, after all they are just cartoons. Even at the age of 4 my daughter is able to enjoy both movies over and over again, and still learn about what really happened to Pocahontas at Jamestown and in England. So on that note, if she's happy, then I'm happy.

Summary: Horrible movie compared to the original
Review: I have to agree that people either love this movie or hate it. I think it's stupid. The biggest disappointment is that Pocahontas marries John Rolfe while John Smith watches in the background. That's how it ends. What the heck?!!? What happened to "I can't leave you" and "I love you" from the first one? Now Pocahontas hates John Smith. Besides she looks about ten years old and John Rolfe is a jerk to John Smith. I hated it!! One of the worst movies I've ever seen. It makes me sad and angry!! Don't watch it! If Disney can't think of any better movies than to make sequels that ruin the classics, then maybe they need to get some new people, because in the last several years, all that Disney's put out is sequels of the classics, which suck! Save yourself and the original Pocahontas which is a classic! Don't watch this movie!!!!

Summary: Not as good as the original.
Review: I liked the original movie...I was not impressed with this sequel. And neither were my girls, ages 3 & 4. They began playing and not even paying attention to this movie about 1/3 of the way into it. It was an okay movie - but rent it - don't buy it!

Summary: Tell the Truth About Her Real Life in England
Review: I own "Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" and I just want to say that it has its pros and cons. The songs are okay....but not as well written and composed as "Pocahontas." The storyline is complicated to understand. When I bought this movie I thought it would be like her REAL trip to England but Disney had to screw it up (just like "Mulan"). She still has some sympathy for John Smith and totally makes a fool of John Rolfe. Instead of living in England she goes there to talk to King James (and Rattcliff).

When the ending credits are over Disney says, " 'Pocahontas II: Journey to a new world' is a fictionalized story about her life in England. To learn about her life in England visit your local library." Why make a movie when it has nothing to do with the real thing?

I am not trying to say that the movie is 'awful.' You might like it when you see it. But I was disappointed when I sat down to watch the whole thing. Yes, there are some parts that I liked. But I expected alot more than what I saw.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Love It
Review: I really liked this movie. I agree that in the beginning I wanted Pocahontas with John Smith but if you see correctly John Smith acted sooooo differently from Pocahontas I. He was sooo egotistic and selfish. Yea he did still love Pocahontas but compared to John Rolfe, Rolfe seemed so much more better then Smith. Rolfe seemed to care a little more about Pocahontas and knows her much more then Smith did.
