Summary: this deserves more than 5 stars
Review: First, everyone knows the story of snow white by heart by now, so I won't go into plot detail, but the DVD of this film is a rare treat unto itself! If you're an extras junkie, you will absolutely adore this set. There's not one extra left out. If you could think of it, it's likely in there. What's better, the extras are very easy to manuever through, with two guided tours to help out. The film itself looks amazing, what with an extensive and thorough clean-up done. The sound is now top-notch, and carries through my home theatre system beautifully. This is how film classics SHOULD be treated, and this is by far one of the all-time great film classics.

Summary: A classic
Review: With an evil protagonist second only to Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty (and perhaps Ursula in The Little Mermaid), this is a great show--though really small kids might be scared. Also, its values reflect its times, so you're not going to see much in the way of feminist activism here...

Summary: A MUST HAVE!!!
Review: INCREDIBLE art work showing the advancement of the film and its making. A MUST HAVE for any disney fan. I also enjoyed the radio commercials advertising the film throughout the years.

Summary: WoW!!!!
Review: Snow White is my favorite movie of all time--ever since I saw a theatrical re-release of the film at a very young age. I must have been 5 or so at the time, in the early 80s--now I am 19 and NEVER ashamed to say that this movie has remained with me as a gem. I bought the video on the very day it was in retail--back in 1995--and pre-ordered the DVD in September...and got a free Little Mermaid DVD as well.

The moment the film started I noticed how sharp it suddenly was! And the backgrounds came to life like never before. I had always seen a little "dust" on the video. But all of a sudden Snow White's dress was bright canary yellow...and the dwarfs' tunics brighter as well. The Queen even took on a more graceful appearance...But I must say that the scenery was what really popped out first.

Disney certainly made a spectacular film back in the day--1937--but watching this DVD you would hardly notice that this movie is 65 years old. It could have been released last year...that's how brilliant it now is. So...a big tribute to the team that polished this "apple".

I truly recommend that everyone who is a Disney fan get this American Classic for their DVD library--because she's now locked up (or is she just on vacation at her Prince's castle?? I prefer that choice) for about 10 years.

Will the other Platinum DVDs have two disks...that certainly would be exciting! Now that "Beauty and the Beast" will be coming out in October of this year--I'm very excited about the possibilities. The series will continue in this way: Lion King (03), Aladdin (04), Bambi (05), The Jungle Book (06), Cinderella (07--that long??), The Little Mermaid (08), Lady and the Tramp (09) and 101 Dalmatians in 2010. I can hardly wait to see each of these completely restored classics. Woo-hoo!

Summary: A BRILLIANT START TO THE PLATINUM SERIES
Review: I bought this DVD because my niece has plaed my VHS edition to nothingness and I was not disappointed. The movie itself has never looked nor sounded better, but it is the extras that are worth the price. The interactive Magic Mirror is fantastic - taking even the novice to numerous things to explore. The game really tests the viewers ability to recall even minute details of the film - who actually knows which instrument each Dwarf plays The background materials provided fascinating tidbits about everything from abandoned concepts to info about the voice talents. I never knew that the voice of the prince was the father of Dean Stockwell who played "Al" on Quantum Leap. I really enjoyed the walk through time provided by some of Disney's best actors, but where was Dame Julie? But the creme de la creme was Barbra's beautiful rendition of "Some Day My Prince will Come." I can't wait until the next DVD in the series (Beauty and the Beast) is introduced next year since the nearest IMAX screen is in Chicago.

Summary: You'll be sorry when this great DVD is gone!
Review: This DVD is the standard at which all DVD's should be measured by. It is amazing how Disney has restored this classic onto DVD. The special features on this DVD are endless and they are special features YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO WATCH! This film is beautiful and it should be watched by all young children. In this time and day when childrens films are more like adult films this a wholesome childrens film that an adult and child will both love. This is the perfect film for Disney to start their platinum collection which they will release one classic film for the next 9 years, next year Beauty and the Beast gets the great treatment I CAN'T WAIT!

Summary: Disney's crowning achievement becomes a DVD show piece
Review: Get yours while you can. When the last disc is sold, that's it for a few years. This is an amazing DVD, full featured and loaded to the brim with everything you ever wanted to know and some things that never crossed your mind about Snow White. Disney's first full length "animated feature" made history and is still a sight to behold. The guided tours are easy to navigate, and the package is high quality. What else would you expect for "the one that started it all"? This is what DVD was intended for, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs makes its mark on the technology.

Summary: A Disney Classic With a DVD that SOARS
Review: As wonderful as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" still is - decades after its theatrical release, younger audiences may find its animation flat and uninspired. Blame DISNEY itself for that, since in the past 20 years, the studio has released equally timeless tales that far exceed this film's technical qualities. Nowhere here will you find the depth and 3-dimensional elements of "Beauty and the Beast" or the sheer grandeur of "The Lion King." And, SNow White's operatic vocal inflections can be grating at times, I admit. Still - this is pure Disney magic, sure to be enjoyed for decades to come!

Summary: Great Disney Movie
