Summary: Not just the Female stepping out
Review: True, in this beautiful Disney tale of a young chinese girl, Disney gave us a strong female heroine who did stand up and create an ancient "women's lib". But beyond this, this movie is sheer eye candy. With beautiful scenery and breath-taking computer animated scenes, this movie is by far my favorite. Not to mention GREAT characters. Eddie Murphy adds hilarity to the tiny dragon Mushu. I recommend this one highly!!!!

Summary: Great role model for little girls
Review: This film had the usual Disney excellence in animation, music, visual impact, etc. But what really pleased me (as a mother) is that finally we have a strong female heroine, whose stands up against the patriarchal nonsense... a wonderful story of a young woman conquering her fears and finding/creating her place in a world where she doesn't fit, where they will not hear her. Mulan has the courage to step outside society's "norm" and be herself, to persevere and find her power, and thus achieves greatness. Although she does finally marry, she marries as an equal, far different than the matchmaker tradition of her times.... and marriage is just a part of her story instead of the "goal" of her life (or the movie). The story is exciting, amusing, heart-warming, and inspiring... with a taste of education about an ancient culture and a much-welcome dose of feminism. Great stuff!

Summary: Disney did it again! Mulan is fun for the whole family!
Review: Disney did it again! Mulan is a movie with a spetacular story about a chinese girl who refuses to follow the ancient boring chinese traditions. She is not afraid to follow her heart and do what she believes to be the right thing. One of the great things about Disney's cartoons is how they show the place of the story, which is equivalent to a film Photography. We had a great view of the ancient Greece in Hercules, Africa in The Lion King, Paris in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and again, the images of the ancient China in Mulan is already enough to love the movie! Another goal in all the Disney Cartoons are the loving pet characters, and Mulan isn't different. The new pet characters Cri Kee, the cricket and Mushu, the dragon are hilarious! Eddie Murphy plays the voice of Mushu. So, do you have any doubt that this dragon is funny and make excellent jokes? Cri Kee on the other hand makes only cricket noises, but not less funny because of that! Finally, everybody will love this chinese girl, Mulan. A person who refuses to follow the chinese traditions to do what she thinks to be the right thing. Her bravery will surely inspire every girl to believe in their hearts. Even when this means to struggle for what you want. The Disney Studios put everything that I said together in an amazing story of adventure that will surely be a great entertainment for the whole family! Highly recommended!!!

Summary: Superior Animation, great film
Review: After the "new wave" Disney animation films reached its zenith with the "The Lion King", the past few animation features has been rather lacklustre and dull compare to the likes of "The Little Mermaid" and "The Beauty and the Beast". BUT, with "Mulan", this film reverse this downward trend and restore disney's reputation.

"Mulan" was surprisingly good. It deals with with family honor, war and feminism, not the traditional topics of a Disney feature. The chief female chracter, Mulan, rescues his prince charming instead of the (usual) other way around.

Mulan is based on a ancient Chinese poem. Nomadic barbarians have invaded China (disney use the Huns)and every male head of every Chinese household has been conscripted to defend China and fight the invading army. Mulan's father, being old and crippled, could not stand a chance to survive, so Mulan impersonated a man to take his father's place and therby saves him. There she joins the Chinese army and prepares to fight the barbarians.

In Disney's version there is the comedic sidekick dragon "mushu', voiced by Eddie Murphy and a lucky cricket. However what distinguish this film from its Disney predecessor is the serious portrayal of war and honor and feminism. Mulan holds her family honor dear and was willing to saccrifice er life for it. Also, she uses her brains rather than macho gut instincts to defeat the Huns. (and saves the handsome hunk).

In addition, there is a grand epic feel to the film. The sight of a huge Hun army advancing down a snowy slope is a truly impressive sight, no doubt inspired by David Lean. The background landscape and Chinese costumes are also fairly accurate and awe-inspring for a Disney film. Instead of looking like the typical sterotyped Western view of Chinese, the Chinese in Mulan actually dress quite like what actual ancient Chinese dress like. Credit must be given to the research the Mulan team has done.

Overall, this is a highly recommended film for dealing with issue such as honor, death and feminism, you won't see that in other Disney flicks.

Summary: The last great Disney movie
Review: I love "Mulan." I wasn't sure if it would be as good as the previous cartoon musicals I've seen (Aladdin, Lion King etc). I ended up loving it!! I thought it was a very good message about defying the norms of society and being yourself. a very big step for Disney. Eddie Murphey portrays the amusing Mushu dragon who helps Mulan on her way to join the army in honor of her grandfather, who is sick and cannot fight anymore. The songs are great...especially "Reflection" which has beautiful lyrics (also song brilliantly by Pop singer Christina Aguilera on the sountrack). The animation is great, and very similar to my fav movie "Pocahontas." If you loved "Pocahontas" and didnt get to see "Mulan" in theatres, then I urge you to buy it. This in my opinion is the last great film in the wave of Disney musicals (beginning of course with a classic favorite Little Mirmaid). Now we have to put up with annoying stories of ape-boys and Aliens visiting Earth (yawn). So that said, I really reccomend "Mulan." I think she is a good role model for girls and in addition the story is great! This will become a classic...and is reccomended to anyone of all ages (I was 15 when I saw it). Overall grade for "Mulan": A+

Thanks for reading!

Summary: An amazing Disney movie which IS historically accurate.
Review: There are two animated films I know of that can envoke both epic excitement and emotion. The first is "Prince of Egypt". The second is "Mulan". For once, Disney has made a film that can send shivers down your back in scenes like "Mulan's Decision" or make you laugh at jokes that aren't too formulaic. Another interesting fact is that, despite what some people may say, "Mulan" is probably Disney's most historically accurate film. "Little Mermaid" certainly did not show sea-life in 19th century Denmark with profound reliability nor did "Beauty and the Beast" depict medieval/ renaissance age France all that well. But "Mulan" was true enough to show Chinese clothing as they were in Tang and Six Kingdoms Dynasties and used Cantonese instead of Mandarin (Cantonese is older and closer to the language the real Mulan, if she truly existed, would have spoken). The animation was beautiful and just as good as any other Disney movie, and much better than "Little Mermaid". And yes, the story was different than the original Chinese poem, but what do you expect? EVERY SINGLE DISNEY MOVIE IN THE LAST DECADE was more entirely different from the original source than Mulan was. I've read a translation, and the poem was much too short to make a movie out of. In fact, the movie seems to have drawn some inspiration from Maxine Hong Kingston's memoirs, "Woman Warrior" which relates the Mulan story with similarities to the film. And, finally, unlike every other Disney movie with a heroine, Mulan does not marry her handsome prince- SHE invites HIM to dinner.

Summary: Never took my eyes off it
Review: Such a captivating movie-the music, characters, scenes, situations and troubles they all get into, keep you glued to the tube. The music is so beautiful. I've heard that some people say Mulan is not a "Princess" like all the other "Disney Princesses" but you don't have to have royal blood running through your veins or to marry a prince to be a princess, Mulan is a princess in every way, shape and form.

Summary: The movie is cute, but it really lacks any plot...
Review: Mulan 2 I had hoped to be with abit more action and exciting and so as the 1st one. This movie is more about for little girls who dream of love and adventure.

Not to say the movie wasnt cute to watch, just that when your taking about 3 guys to fall in love with 3 women that are destined to be with someone else.

That and Mushu being a bad character this time around... was odd..

I mean it was kinda a dissapointment. But anyways, I know alot has been said about this movie as it is. Just thought id drop this in.

Couldve had abit more in the story in my view.
