Summary: Ha! Finally Disney has one for girls and boys as well!
Review: This is in my humble openion by far the best Disney cartoon I have ever seen. Besides those old classics make us nostolgia about our own childhood, this one is an achievement in both art and style. It earmarked the first large scenery shot. Remember, the last dance of "Beauty and Beast" and "Sleeping Beauty"? Spectators are all motionless! I mean dead! Only the two main characters are moving. This time you can see the Hun calvery stampeded down the hill in hundreds. Wow! I love it. I love to see the girl portraited smart, witty, and kind! Hey, it is not just for Chinese girls, it is for all of you - all the girls! Where is the blond bimboo? Certainly not in this film. This is the right direction for Hollywood to take. Girls are not sex object only. Girls are stronger than most men! Girls should be brought up as a proud leader for the future. Every men appreciate what Mulan's father said: "The greatest gift and honor is having you as my daughter!" Well, I am a proud father of three wonderful daughters too.

Summary: It's a great family movie!

Summary: a strong female figure
Review: At last, a Disney animated feature whose heroine's world doesn't revolve around a prince. Add some beautiful artwork and you've got a masterpiece -- except for the annoying little dragon.

Summary: Mulan, A... OK
Review: Mulan combines todays finest animation with an wondeful plot about a girl and a "Dragon's" quest for honor.

The characters are wonderfully rendard with exciting personalities and wonderful quirks.

Except for the toned down violence you'll want to bring your kids to this movie over and over.

I gave this movie 5 STARS

Summary: One of the best movies of all time!!!!!!!!
Review: I think that this movie is great!! I haven't a chance to buy it, but i rent it and watch it over and over again. I think that the story line was great. They showed in this movie a girl who has courage and cleverness do something that most everyone wouldn't be able to do, unlike movies like Sleeping Beauty. the only thing that I didn't like was that there was not enough romance between Mulan and Shang. They should have at least kissed. But never-the-less, I loved the movie and think that everyone should at least see it, if not buy it. I recommend that Disney make a Mulan II, alot of people would come to see it, especially me.

Summary: The best Disney movie I have ever seen.
Review: I think you should buy this movie because I like the song and the most part I like is when Mulan is tring to get in the army she was practing with the sord and next the sord fell down the horse was laphing at mulan and she said I was practing. The other part was when Mulan said my anut sent me a little lizzard to help me but Moeshore said dragon not lizard. I watch it so many time I could watch againg. So I would go to the video store to rent the thing or go to a store and get one.

Summary: Disney could have done a better job. It's disappointing.
Review: Don't get me wrong. I think Mulan is an overall good moive. The animation is excellent. For example, the scene of the battle field is very impressive on silver screen. The scores are good and the voice and singing are also very good. But the story development is quite weak, so are the characters.

I don't mind having Mushu in the movie at all. It is fun. I don't mind the characters being Americanized. Disney is an American enterprise after all. But I do mind getting history all mixed up. For example, in the era where the Huns were threats, I don't think the "Forbidden City" has been built. As for a bunch of girls marching down the main street, that's just plain laughable.

As to the characters, the "hero", Shung, is quite weak. I don't know how Mulan ever falls for him. And in a movie with the female protagonist's name as its title, I expect to see more of Mulan. Does she like sword play as a little girl? In taking her father's place in the army, is she trying to prove that she is as good as a son in a culture that values boys over girls, or she just loves her father too much to see him fighting at an old age? There could be more details like these in the movie, but Disney just didn't care to spend the time and efforts. I am really disappointed. It could have been better.

Summary: Ive seen better cartoons from the WB network.
Review: i didnt like this movie because the dragon took away from plot. Mulan has too much western style in it.plus Mulan is not pretty enough!

Summary: Disney Lurches out of Slump with Mulan (Almost)
Review: Or would have lurched out, had they devoted any media muscle to this film. Instead, Disney chose to pull their punches and hope to recoup their money on video. Had they pushed or hyped this film in any way--more people would have seen this incredible film.

I was lucky enough to see it at the Uptown theater, the second largest theater on the east coast. Having seen the video, I'm somewhat disappointed with the pan and scan job. Watching it on a television, it just didn't have the same effect. Two examples--when the Huns charge down a mountain on horseback, and when everyone in the Imperial city bows. I wasn't filled with awe nor fear, rather I was filled with disappointment. I had seen and felt those two scenes in the theater, but on the video, they come across rather unimpressive. If Disney ever releases a wide screen edition of this movie, I'll change my review to five stars.

The voice acting is excellent, as is the screenplay. Ming Na Wen and Lea Salonga do an excellent job as Mulan, with Eddie Murphy providing plenty of comic relief.

The art and the animation style shows that Disney is not limited to cookie cutter releases like Pocahontas and Hunchback.

Oh, and finally, a Disney movie where the heroine doesn't end up kissing/dating/marrying the 'hero.' That was getting tiring. That alone gives this movie an additional 1/2 star.

Bottom Line: Superior to Previous Disney Releases
