Summary: A little fantasy in our lives
Review: I thuroughly enjoy this film. I've heard a lot of comments about this movie and the Judy Garland film, but they really are entirely seperate. The film is original and amazingly entertaining. A great film for people of all ages. I've loved it ever scince it first came out when I was a little girl, and I still find it just a entertaining nearly 15 years later. I think that says a lot that most films can't.

Summary: I've rented it a thousand times...
Review: This movie is one of my all time favorites. As a child, I watched it over and over and over again. My parents would groan every time my sister and I picked it up from the video store. This land of Oz is more real than the happy, musical land of the Wizard of Oz. Princess Mombe is a fantastic villian, with her lovely-head collection and wheeler lackeys. My favorite character is Belina(spelling?), the practical talking chicken. Those die-hard fans of the Wizard of Oz may find this movie sacriligeous. Yet, those of you who love mystical, beautiful new worlds will adore this movie!

Summary: i detest this movie with a white hot passion
Review: this movie is not repeat not for children. a strong caution for parents this movie will most likely scar you children for life. i am not kidding. as a very wise peson once said- why tamper with perfection? the original movie was nearly perfect in every way and an amazing accomplishment for the times. it will warm our hearts for decades to come. the sequel on the other hand is poorly done with laughable special effects, and a barely plausible story line. there is a complete lack of focus, depth and objective to this movie and i would happily banish it to the hall of disgraceful movies forever. but other that that it was great!

Summary: Better Than the Origional
Review: Return to Oz is one of my all time favorite movies. Dorthy somehow ends up back in Oz to find every living thing turned to stone and the emerald city stripped of it's emeralds. To save her friends and the creatures of Oz, she befriends all kinds of new creatures, from the kind hearted TicTock, the humble Gump, the chicken from Kansas Bellina, and the innocent Jack the Pumpkin Head. The movie is not a musical, so don't expect anyone to break out in song, but it makes up for it in the storyline. This is a movie the whole family will enjoy.

Review: Return to Oz is one of the finest children's movies I've seen. It *is* very strange, and the atmosphere is very minimal and haunting, but these are the very things that make it so rewarding. In the vein of other admirable children's movies, like The Dark Crystal and the Neverending Story. Your kids need to see something a little more evocative than the formulated Disney classics once in a while. It's good for them. And by the way, I intend no condescendence in referring to Return to Oz and the others as "children's movies" -- I think it's a highly worthwhile addition to the collection of anyone with a sense of whimsy and imagination, (who doesn't require non-stop "uplifting" cliches in order to enjoy a film.)

Summary: Return to Oz has a prestige and mystique rarely found.
Review: "Return to Oz" has all the elements that create a movie classic. I have just purchased the film on DVD and have noticed that it has a certain charisma and charm quite different to MGM's version. Return To Oz on DVD is beautiful, the widescreen element adds to the enchantment and intrigue. in 1985, the film cost 30 Million dollars to make and it is one of the last films shot in the Technicolor process. The DVD technology brings out the vivid colors and the glorious soundtrack. This picture deserves an acclaimed place in motion picture history.

Summary: This movie is the best thrill seeker of all times!
Review: I first saw this movie when I was about eight years old and I have loved it ever since. It's different from the Wizard of Oz, but has some similar contrasts. The imagery and symbolism of this movie was just amazing. I was finally able to purchase the movie from Amazon after an endless search for years of trying to find it. I love the characters- Tic Tock, Gallina, the wheelers, Princess Mumbe with the collection of heads and of course the gump. This is one movie that won't disappoint anyone. I would recommend a parent watching it with their children however because it can get scary and ackward at times!

Summary: Oz done right
Review: This movie brings back fond memories of the Oz books I readyears ago. This movie takes two of the best Oz books and molds them together into a highly enjoyable romp through the marvelous land of oz. This movie captures the essence of the books "Ozma of Oz" and "Land of Oz" perfectly, more so than the disturbingly saccharine sweet "Wizard of Oz", which appals me to this day. And although some liberties were taken in "Return to Oz", like the ommision of the hungry tiger and Princess Langwidere, it doesn't stray from the source material at all.(Except for those ruby slippers, which were never heard of again after "The wizard of Oz", and were actually SILVER slippers!} This movie is more for the fan of the Oz books, which is probably why it bombed. And at the parade at the end of the film, you can see cameos of famous Oz characters. Such as the patchwork girl, frogman, polychrome and Shaggy man!! You will also see Button Bright, but if I recall correctly, he wasn't a grown man, as portrayed in the film. All in all, a VERY good movie that was sorely overlooked by critics and audiencs alike. I can't stress how superior this movie is to the horrendous "Wizard of Oz". BUY THIS NOW!! You will NOT be disappointed.

Summary: Fun Movie, Highly recommended
Review: I really enjoyed the movie, and just purchased it on dvd. The return to OZ is not a remake of the original OZ, and shoudn't be compared as a remake, but as a very good sequel. I think they did a good job at bringing you back to OZ with less singing and more real action. If you want a musical like the original wizard of OZ buy the original. But if you want to be brought back to OZ with action, adventure and a touch of horror buy the return to OZ.

Highly recommended
