Summary: Disney Formula Delivers a Winner
Review: Disney is starting to catch on with this DVD release. No forced commercials on this special edition (if only the same could be said for the standard edition of Tarzan), commentary, trailers & music videos. Okay, so the commentary is rather dry at times, there are other times where it is fun to hear. Talk of alternate endings and sequences also help. It is interesting to note that Tarzan & Join join Terk & the other gorillas in an earlier version of the "Trashing the Camp" musical number, and a relief that they didn't in the final film. The movie itself is a lot of fun, not thoroughly faithful to the source, like so many other Disney movies, however, no less so than the live-action counterparts. The reason why so many of these Disney cookie-cutter films manage to work is that they often play upon the anciant Heroic cycle. It is the same formula as can be found in Gilgamesh, The Odyssey, King Arthur, Hamlet, Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars and Apocalypse Now. Disney adds on some songs, keeps it "clean" in terms of language & makes certain the pace is brisk and the ending is happy. This is one of those thoroughly engaging fun movies on every level. The climax felt a little too similar to the climax of Beauty & the Beast, but it seemed a small price to play considering the quality of the rest of the movie. Phil Collins' music is quite good, with the drums serving the jungle setting perfectly. This is also the first Disney movie that made me actually look forward to the inevitable direct-to-video sequel.

Summary: Loved it.
Review: "Tarzan" is a great film for both kids and adults to see. It was very humorus and entertaining. The music is great, too. You will remember the music for years to come, and the movie, too.

The movie "Tarzan" starts out when Tarzan is just a baby and his parents are on the boat in the ocean during a storm. Tarzan and his parents make it to the jungle, and they make a home in the jungle. But then, the tiger (I think it's a tiger) kills Tarzan's parents and Tarzan is the only survival in the attack.

Anyway, a couple months later, a mother ape who lost her own baby to the same tiger strolls into the old, deserted home of Tarzan. She finds Tarzan and takes him home. She wants to be Tarzan's mother so she takes care of him.

The ape's husband doesn't like the idea that she is taking care of a human baby. He doesn't like Tarzan and during the movie, Tarzan grows up into a man.

Years later, a young woman named Jane, her father, and this guy who comes with them to protect them, comes to the jungle to for research. They are from Londan, England.

Jane meets Tarzan while running away from the tiger, he saves her (of course), and they end up falling in love. The guy who is supposed to be precticing Jane and her father find out about the apes and try to kill them - he also trys to kill Tarzan. Well, then the tiger comes and trys to destroy them.

From the middle to the end of "Tarzan", it's the typical animated Walt Disney movie, still, it's really good. The animation is incriedble. What I like about the animated Disney movies is that the the animation just keeps getting better and better each year, so does the quailty of the film.

This is a definite must-buy Disney for the entire family! It's on the top of my list for "Must-see"! Go out and buy it, and you won't be disappointed!

Summary: Another great animation feature by Disney
Review: I was expecting high results before I saw Tarzan, and I was not dissapointed in the least. The animation is fantastic and everytime I see it, there is a different detail that I haven't seen before. Tarzan is a brilliantly drawn movie and alot of the credit has to go to the vibrant colors of the deep African Jungle. When Tarzan swings and skims along the trees it is so exciting that you feel like you are there with him. The voices compliment the movie very well Minnie Driver as Jane, Tony Goldwyn as Tarzan and Rosie O'Donnell as Tarzan's gorilla friend are a fantastic touch. The plot is exciting, except at the end when it gets a tad bit long, but picks up again before its too late. I highly recommend this movie to all Disney fans and to fans of animation as well.

Disc two has mini documentaries on the making of the film, still pictures of character developement, music videos and song demos, and much more.If you're a fan of the film, you'll find yourself getting happily lost in all the material contained in this edition.

Summary: The Collector's Edition is worth the extra cost!
Review: A two disk package with LOADS of extras. I found the second disk, video music, how they made it, storyboards, etc. as interesting as the movie. For the few extra dollars, it's worth it!

Summary: Macho and violent as a gorilla
Review: Okay the violent as a gorilla part was bad and cliched, but the truth is Tarzan is easily one of Disney's most violent animated films. And the movie doesn't even show the violence as a product of reasonable conflict. It just shows the violence as an excuse to make the movie feel grittier and more adult. The villain is weak and even silly, and he's obnoxiously trigger-happy. What is the point of all that shooting? He never seems to have much of a purpose except to shoot things, especially gorillas. Thus, he's neither a good villain nor a good hunter. If you want an example of an astounding villain, look at Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. If you want a real hunter, not some imitation, look at Amos Slade from The Fox and the Hound. At least he was a human as well as a hunter. The villain in Tarzan is neither. He just wants to shoot and capture for no apparent reason. And that's not all that's wrong with this film. The hardcase father thing, done before in Pocahontas and The Little Mermaid, doesn't seem as charming as in those two movies. Tarzan's macho appearance doesn't strike me as appealing. The movie just seems to want to wow the audience with how deftly he moves through the trees and rescues the damsel in distress. That brings me to Jane, the lead female character. Jane's a horrible character. After creating strong female characters like Ariel and Jasmine, Disney does a complete u-turn. Jane's weak as a character and as a female. What's worse, she's even a source of humor and not much else. Feminine females were fine in classic Disney. They were charming in their own way. It doesn't, however, work today, and it doesn't work here. The contrast of the weak, silly, and cliched Jane with the macho Tarzan is appalling. And the fact that she's a source of humor makes it even worse. Besides the parental gorilla characters, Tarzan is practically surrounded by silly, humorous characters. The result is an unbalanced movie that's both violent and wacky, and even then, the humor's not all that great. And the story, the movie's version anyway, is weak, laughable, and boring. The concept of Tarzan being a translator for gorilla speak is ridiculous. The good points? The songs, the Trashing the Campsite scene, the lush environment, and the fast action and astounding animation. Otherwise, avoid this movie like the plague. It's not as bad as Hercules, but in many ways it's worse. Go see Mulan instead.

Summary: You can always count on the best from Disney.
Review: This is really better than some other and earlier Disney films. Like I said before, I don't always find films that are this good and have every thing that they need in them. But, really, I can't stand seeing people die. I was able to be with the characters throughout the film. I cried when Kala and Kercheck lost their baby and when Tarzan found out about his human parents and when Kercheck was killed. The songs are truely unforgetable."Trust your heart and let fate decide to guide these lives we see".

Summary: Tarzan Special Edition
Review: I'm back! Mr. Sound Problem Finder. Well not this time! This Special Edition's left-front sound information is where is should be--the left-front, unlike some of the earlier "regular" Tarzan discs. Great sound for a great movie on DVD.

Summary: The best Antimated movie I've seen
Review: I've rented this movie, and loved the whole show. I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack. Tarzan is a boy lost, do to a shipwreck, and his parents was killed by a tiger, and who wanted the boy for its dinner. Tarzan was found, saved, and adopted by a female gorilla and raised him as her own son. He's found love in Jane, the daughter of an explorer, and he also found treachery in the man Clayton, who wanted the gorillas, to bring back to the mainland, and make himself very rich, But Tarzan stops his plans dead in there tracks. Jane and her father wanted to see the gorillas and learn more about them. She found Tarzan and fell in love with him. They became "One Family" in "Two Worlds", but they ended up staying in the jungle. Telling the captain who came to bring them back to the mainland, to tell his bosses that they could not find Jane and her father. This movie is one I'll buy very soon, so I can see it over and over again. I would recommend this as a must see. Buy it, and enjoy the story. This movie also brought tears to my eyes, it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the show. If you like Disney movies, You will love this one to, I sure did. Summary: Tarzan is the true King of Swing, and so is this DVD.
Review: This movie is incredable. This movie is not just for children, it is entertaining to people of all ages. The story is wonderful, the characters are wonderful, and the animation is a superb work of art. This is Disney at it's best, right up there with their best work. There is some mild violence in the movie, which may scare younger children, but it is mild, and the movie is wonderful.

As for the DVD, it is simply the best I've seen. It is 2 discs, so if you are a fan of the movie, or just an animation buff in general, you will spend hours upon hours uncovering all the features this DVD has to offer.

Excellent Movie + Excellent DVD. Most Highly reccomended!
