Summary: A Little FYI On the DVD While You Wait For It "Patiently"...
Review: The movie itself is spectacular and all the other reviews for it can describe the plot and such...I am very anxious to get it in October!!! But to focus on the DVD!The cover for the the Platinum Edition release is gorgeous as the you can see at the top of the description page. Also, this is *nearly* the same cover used for the 1991 VHS release. Belle, the Beast, Lumiere, Mrs. Pots, and Chip are all in the same position as the were in the original cover, except that Cogsworth is not here. Also, the purple shaded ballroom background is replaced with a blue and black velvet background with the addition of the big rose.
One could complain about recycling, but as shown, the quality of the art is enhanced and restored with modern technology and the colors look full and vibrant with even a little touchups to make it look even more attractive. The new background and the huge rose blend well with the bumped up images from the 1991 release. Good Job Disney! ^_^ Aside from the huge amounts of extras that come with this Platinum Edition [On a sidenote: Each of the Platinum Edition releases will have tons of extras. I haven't even watched all of the ones from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs yet!], something about the information on the discs confuses me... It says *3 Enchanted Versions of this Film*. #_#!!! Ummmm...let me try to type this out how I see it...
-Special Edition: Obviously the version of the film that includes Human Again. -Original Theatrical Edition: ?_? I'm guessing this is Beauty and the Beast without the song, Human Again? -Work In Progress Edition: Okay!...I seriously have no idea what this is. Possibly...GOD! I have no IDEA!!! Maybe the movie as just moving sketches of black and white and unfinished colors. If that's the case who would want to watch that?!?! OKay...Okay...I just need to calm down...and explain to you the reader how I see it...!! First of all...all of us who are buying this movie are expecting FLAWLESS video and sound quality. (In my opinion, if you have been waiting for 10 years for them to rerelease the movie and they do it in the IMAX theater, and then afterwards they practically take the rest of the same year to release it on DVD, then the whole thing better be [DARN] FLAWLESS!!!) So I'm expecting that the Special Edition of the 3 on the disk is the new restored with the new song integrated back into the film.
So why have the other two? Does that mean that the original theatrical release is just the same quality as it was 11 years ago? Why have that?
And the Work in Progress...I'm not sure if this is what I said about sketches and unfinished colors. Or maybe some alternate way they were going to make it in the beginning? If so why wouldn't they put that on the second disk? Wouldn't that qualify as an extra? My theory is that with the Special Edition they might have redone the title screen, dedication to Howard Ashman, and the end credits along with the rest of the film. So it might look like a whole new movie from almost every point of view. The original theatrical release is maybe, what it sounds like. Original credits and such without Human Again, but restored nonetheless...? I'm not exactly sure why they would do this, except maybe for memorial purposes...collector's... But I still cannot comment on Work in Progress for I have no idea what that is...?! Sorry. On the technical side, the movie runs 84 minutes and with Human again that goes to almost an hour and a half. It seems the first disc will have only the features and nothing else, so even if there are 3 editions ( #_# And I'm still a bit confused mind you), there is plenty of space to house them and the quality should and HAD BETTER BE FLAWLESS!!!!! Bwaahahahahaha

Summary: One of the best Disney movies ever
Review: I personally adore this movie. I've seen it over 40 times, and I saw the play twice. This movie is beautiful and funny. I think it's a shame that we have to wait untill October for it to be released on DVD. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who has never seen it. The songs are great. My favorites are "Belle", "Be Our Guest", and "Beauty and the Beast". This movie brightens up your day. It is one of the best movies ever.

Review: When I first bought a DVD player I was so dissapointed that this great movie was not published yet on DVD. I have been waiting for it to be released. It's hard to say enough about this great movie, great cast, wonderful music, and a great timeless story-line. It is in my Top 5 favorite Disney movies of all time...

Review: Please don't rush and buy the 1991 version of "Beauty and the Beast"!...I just saw the new version at IMAX this past Valentine's Day and it was far better than the first. The old and new are not different, rather the 'special edition' has a new song and animation sequence! It's titled "Human Again". The missing piece written by the late Howard Ashman. It was brought back to life, dusted off, and given the most stunning animation to fill in the link. The new "filler" is so cute I can't imagine the movie without it. "Human Again" incorporates all your beloved characters from the Beast's castle, becoming the most humorous display of all the musical sequences. I would also like to stress (until it is too late) that you see the Special Edition movie at IMAX. Seeing it on a screen such as IMAX is visually breathtaking. It will appease you until "Beauty and the Beast's" Special Edition release date. On another note (no pun intended), the soundtrack is not one to pass over either. It is compiled of the 1991 old classics and the new "Human Again".

Summary: My favorite Disney movie
Review: After I saw Beauty and the Beast in the theaters back in '91, I remember trying to copy some of the dance moves from 'Be Our Guest'. Then I rediscovered this wonderful movie last summer and fell in love all over again. Gaston is egoistic to the point of hilarity, LeFou tries to be a good little yes-man for Gaston but is too nice, Belle knows what she wants and tries to do it, Beast
wants to be nice but really needs some anger management classes at the beginning, and the rest of the characters are all equaly loveable. To be honest, I think the Beast looks better as a beast
than as a human. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves movies with love stories, fun songs that beg to be memorized, posessed household objects, and a bad guy with a henchman it's hard to hate, all with a Buzby Berkeley-style dance number thrown
in.

Summary: All Beauty!!!
Review: This film, in my opinion, is the best Disney film ever made. The animation, the story and the delightful songs make it an absolute treat for anyone of any age. Now, Disney releases an IMAX version and it is even more stunning. The story of Belle, the independent, book-loving young woman stuck in a town that doesn't appreciate her, is as entertaining today as it was when it was released over a decade ago. Besides Belle, there is a host of other entertaining characters such as Lumiere, the candelabra, Ms. Potts, the teapot and of course, Chip, the precosious tea cup. The added scene, "Human Again", is a nice addition and seeing all the vibrant colors and incredible animation on the IMAX screen is a movie lover's dream. I'm hoping Disney will soon release this Oscar nominated film (the first animated film to be nominated for "Best Picture") on dvd. It is one of those beautiful movies that is perfect for the dvd format. For now, however, I'll just enjoy it on IMAX. Don't miss it on this screen, its worth your time and money

Summary: A Disney film that deserves it's Best Picture Nomination
Review: One of the better Disney pictures, this captivating 1991 musical is a treat, to say the least. A classic movie that when digitally restored with an additional scene, is better than it was, fully deserving of its Best Picture nomination. A beauty who is smart and loves to read books, goes to a magnificent castle, where her clumsy, warmhearted inventor father is being held captive by a cold-hearted beast (a prince under a witch's spell) and its inanimate objects (who are actually the prince's servants under the same spell). The girl rescues her father, but must stay with the beast in return, where he hopes to find someone who will love him before a magical rose's last petals fall, otherwise he will remain a beast forever. The movie, fully deserving of its well-earned Best Picture nomination and its Oscar-winning songs, is a delightful movie with inspired vocal acting, clever songs, captivating animation, and its solid morals intact. Rarely has a Disney movie be a fully enjoyable film for kids, as well as adults. Even without its bonus scene added to the Imax version of it, it's still a captivating, witty, and beautiful movie. See it when you can, but avoid the newest movies, such as "Atlantis." Those are good, but they're not the cinematic treat this memorable piece of Disney is. See the older ones, such as this one.
