Summary: The PG Blues Brothers Band
Review: "Bringing back the band to raise money for a significant landmark", "cameos by a bunch of musicians, Elton John/ Don Henley/Queen Latifah to name a few", "a musical number here and there which pauses the plot of the movie just to flash "hey, we can sing and dance!""...and you got a knock off of "The Blues Brothers", hence the title! "The Country Bears", based on Disney's own attraction off Disney World, is flat out cheesy. The bear-lives-among-us theme isn't quite believable but still adorable on every ASPECT. (Which they should bring the Bernstien Bears to the big screen!) When Disney gets tired of making dozen's of sequels to beloved classics, only finding their way to the direct-to-video-piles and when Disney can't think of another "Honey, we shrunk the Disney execs", Disney starts creating plot points to their own attractions. While "The Country Bears" is underrated, it still didn't come on to strong. Kids under 4 just don't give a .... anymore. They want to see smartass Sherk's or another Toy Story. Disney just doesn't have it anymore (note: maybe because some brainless company fired a brilliant producer, who then went to Spielberg to form Dreamworks, which is not just kicking Oscar ... but also kicking Disney's as well). Disney has now developed a plan...for the next couple of years, they will bring to life their own attractions. With the "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" released couple of weeks ago, "The Haunted Mansion" in a few months...it will be interesting to see how the kiddies will react to Disney's approach. Who knows, prepare for "Hall of President's" and "The Movie Ride" if this venture takes off!

Summary: It Won't Put You Into Hibernation
Review: "The Country Bears" is a good family film. It isn't the best movie Disney ever cranked out, but it will hold your attention for about an hour and a half. It follows the story of young Beary Barrington, a boy/bear unsure of his purpose in life. He doesn't fit in with his human family(or at least that's what he thinks), so he sets out for "Country Bear Hall," where he believes he'll fit in. When he gets there, the place is about to be leveled to the ground, so he decides to reunite the band for a benefit concert. What follows is a good, clean family film about friendship, family, and tons of musical cameos.

It has a solid cast of well-known and not-so-well known actors. Christopher Walken plays the sore loser turned destructive banker bent on destroying Country Bear Hall. Deidrich Bader and "Chill" Mitchell play two goofy state highway patrolmen. Haley Joel Osment provides the voice of "Beary." Steve Tobolowsky plays the fun father figure of this film.

The film has a good overall message, but some younger kids may be turned off by the pace. It does introduce the younger lot to musicians like Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Elton John, Brian Setzer, and Don Was. It also has cameos by stars the youngsters will probably recognize like Wyclef Jean and Queen Latifah. I think that's what I like most about this film. It covers the Country Bear's "influence" across the board and manages to mix a number of musical genres into one. From hip-hop to rockabilly, it's all covered here. The Country Bear band has a Southern rock sound, with a little Eagles thrown in to boot.

For good family fun, I recommend this one.

Summary: Looks Like Corny And It Is Corny, But Not That Bad
Review: "The Country Bears" is surely corny, and even weird sometimes for adults who wonders how come bears can play the guitar so well, but in fact, this film based on popular amusement park attraction is a harmless, joyful entertainment for the people who like the original Jamboree or films like "Stuart Little."

Of course, that doesn't mean the film is perfect. Far from it. The idea of a little bear (named Beary, voiced by Haley Joel Osment) searching for his roots is so far-fetched. And his going to meet the ex-members of the country music band "The Country Bears" is just an excuse to introduce concert scenes into the story. But thankfully, the film is not long, and there are lots of things you (supposing you are an adult) can enjoy watching in the film. I write down the list of what you will see in the film, so decide whether or not you see it for yourself, or give it as a present for your kids.

1) Many cameos from music industry: Elton John, Don Henley (The Eagles), Bonnie Raitt, and Queen Latifah (now famous for "Chicago"). Brian Setzer (The Stray Cats) plays the guitar and even sings a song "It's only in it for the Honey" with one of the Bears.

2) Some musical scenes including Jennifer Paige as singing waitress and Krystal Marie Harris as herself. The scenes are surprising good.

3) The members of "The Country Bears" all produced by the always amazing studio of Jim Henson, known for Muppett shows. The faces of the bears -- Beary, Fred, Tennessee, Zeb, Trixie, Big Al, Ted (with sunglasses) and Henry -- are full of expression, which are funny to see.

4) Guest appearance of Oscar winner Christopher Walken, who walks in fluffy slippers.

And so on. To be frank, the film lacks any originality, and I don't know for what kind of audience the film is made. Kids? Adults? Anyway, the soundtrack music is good, and the film is not all bad as long as you don't take it seriously. Just fun.

Summary: Not as bad as the ad campaign made it look
Review: After seeing the ads for this movie on TV, I really had no desire to see this film. However, my kids got it for Christmas, and somewhere during the 50 times they played it the first week, I was bound to see it... and I actually found it better than I expected (mostly because of the music and the cameos by Elton John, Don Henley, and Bonnie Raitt). The movie itself kinda reminded me of a warped Blues Brothers meet the Muppets. And of course, there was the innocent child bear teaching the bickering adults some of life's many lessons (yep, take a little Hydrogen and Oxygen and presto... Water) Pretty standard formula. Oh, only one other observation. Whats up with Disney and Pan and Scan?

Summary: Should have gone to hibernation instead
Review: Bad film about a bear cub trying to find his place in the world with a singing family of bears. Bad can't describe this film enough. It's so bad in fact that it's really down right disturbing to look at. The sad part of all of this is the fact that Christopher Walken does his " Just doing it for the money cameo. Avoid at all cost.

Summary: Enjoy the Jamboree
Review: Based on Walt Disney World's "Country Bear Jamboree", this live-action feature is more intelligent than one might expect.

Beary Barrington feels different from his family. Noticeably because they are human, and he is a bear-but he still wants to find a way to fit in. Beary runs away and teams up with Henry in an effort to bring his favorite group "The Country Bears" back together in order to save Country Bear Hall.

Okay, the story is typical. And some of the musical sequences might get groans from the grown-ups...even though the songs are excellent-anyone of which could be nominated for an Academy Award. Cameos by several famous musicians fit in perfectly.

Summary: Country Bears
Review: Country Bears was a great movie and a must to see. Each bear had an irresistible personality and we laughed until it hurt. It was a great family movie and the music was incredible. It was a warm-hearted movie with a good story line with plenty of laughs and enjoyable entertainment. I would highly recommend it. Patricia Leonetti.

Summary: Bearly Good!
Review: Either it's just me or Disney has been slacking with it's movies. After my so-so reveiw of Lilo and Stitch and now the dull Country Bears Disney might be going downhill.I was hoping The Country Bears would be good and make up for Lilo and Stitch but it didn't.

The Plot:Beary Barrington is a bear.A bear in a human family. His parents got him from the park when his real parents left him and his parents love him except for his bigger brother Dexter who is always trying to point out that Beary is not a human and is a bear. When Dexter tells Beary that he doesn't belong there Beary runs to Country Bear Hall to meet his favorite band The Country Bears. He is sad to find out that Country Bear Hall is being torn down by a banker(played by Christopher Walken)because Country Bear Hall's owner doesn't have the money to pay the bank.Beary comes just is time and suggests to get the band back together to put on a show. Now they have four days to get the band back together and raise the money to save Country Bear Hall.

The reason I gave the film and extra star is because the film was entertaining and the plot was good. But the bad stuff about it was that it was strange how bears could talk and sign and the humans just look at them as if there normal human beings.I'm hoping that the next disney movie that I am looking forward to TREASURE PLANET and THE SANTA CLAUS 2 are much much better.

ENJOY!
