Summary: Loooved it!
Review: We saw this at a theater with 10 yr & 7 yr old grandchildren. We all loved it. I am sorry we did not take the 2yr old, I truely think he would have loved it too. I am purchasing the DVD to add to our Disney movie colection.

Summary: Disney by Numbers
Review: Take a little bit of Beauty and the Beast (Character transforms into beast following selfish act and must atone), take some of Pocahontas (basing the story around native ritual and magic), add a pinch of The Emperor's New Groove (a road trip with tension between the two leads that eventually results in friendship) and add a lot of The Lion King (comedy duo sidekicks, death in the family, the whole nature thing). Finally leave out all of the trademark Disney magic and you basically have the recipe for Brother Bear. Lets hope that Home on the Range is a little more original and entertaining.

Summary: Good for certain ages, but Disney has done better
Review: The absolute best Disney films, like Mary Poppins, feature a story line, music, characters, and magical animation effects that are fully enjoyable for all ages, from the youngest to the eldest. Lately, the craftspeople at Pixar have produced the best all-ages films. Brother Bear is a fine enough film for the 9 to 11 age group, but the story line makes it a difficult film for younger children to handle, and the inconsistencies of mood show through as flaws for older, more critical members of the audience.

Brother Bear contains a curious mixture of scenes of traditional lovable Disney animal characters singing together and getting along famously, and then other scenes of battles to the death. The deaths in the film, which are all preceded by fairly lengthy, loud and somewhat graphic battle scenes, are what make the film challenging for the young set. My 7 year-old had to close her eyes and hold her hands over her ears, and get a few reassuring pats from me, in order to make it through those scenes. Without giving away the plot, I will warn that a good number of characters die, and there is a revelation at the end of the film (about who did what to whom) that can be heartbreaking. All this is much more overwhelming than the death of Bambi's mother ever was.

That said, the storyline is a fairly interesting one (for those who are able to handle it), and the film does convey a positive message about how man should interact with nature, as represented by the bears. Thankfully, the film is not completely idealistic, since it does recognize the necessity of the food chain, as illustrated by the long scene of the bears happily munching away on a salmon run. The representation of Native American spiritual beliefs is no doubt less than perfect, but anyone who looks to a Disney animated film for 100% historical accuracy is looking in the wrong place.

The animation is fine, but nothing spectacular. Phil Collins provided a few good upbeat songs, but they accounted for several of the severe shifts in mood, as the film swung back and forth between battle scenes to joyful celebrations of life. The McKenzie brothers from Canada, appropriately cast as moose, provide the comic relief, but I don't think they'll be getting their own TV show on the Disney channel, as did Timon and Pumbaa from the Lion King.

Summary: Good story, se convirtio en oso para ser hombre
Review: Good story, not too complicated so they could focus on quality of staging and funny moments. Excelent work of backgrounds with an especific tecnique (like lilo and stitch), and work of palettes. The first bear is impresively well animated. Efects of shoulder camera that makes more dramatic some scenes. Sings are boring as always, but what can I do, they dont understand that anybody likes the singing.

Summary: You Can Be My Brother
Review: While I had heard of this film long before it's release, I made sure I avoided any spoilers or plot details at all - and I'm glad I did.

Brother Bear has to be the the best Disney animation since The Lion King in 1994. Some of the most perfect animating, combined with a supurb voice cast and a collection of strong Phil Collins songs come together in this masterpiece.

The score is solid and in places can tug at heart strings, though I have to admit I think the scores by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King for one) have been more powerfull, and Brother Bear could have benifited from Hans Zimmer. That said, the Bulgiarian Womens choir truely brings the transformation scenes to life and Phil Collins' songs keep the story flowing along at a good speed without seeming out of place.

The animation is flawless. There are many touches you miss since you would expect them to happen in real life - the kind of things you'd notice if they were absent. Fur reacts to movement correctly, the characters move like they have weight - even the backgrounds are... just to die for!

I have heard many slate this as another "talking animal" film and say it's rubbish. Ignore them, go see it yourself and form your own opinions. I can not wait for the DVD. Once you see it, I'm sure you'll want to take Kenai and Koda home too.

Summary: Don't even bother
Review: What ever happened to the wonderful, classic Disney work? Everything they do these days is simply pathetic.

"Brother Bear" is hardly an exception. I work for a movie theater that happened to show this newest Disney fiasco, and I was able to see it for free -- but, although my MONEY wasn't wasted at all, I felt my time was EXTREMELY wasted.

Throughout the movie, I was bored stiff. "Brother Bear" is a cookie-cutter movie, with paper doll characters, a tired and predictable plot, stale pop music, and watered-down animation that is merely a shadow of what Disney used to produce. The best part of the movie was the bloopers at the end. I'll grant you, the moose are rather funny, but not nearly enough to redeem this movie.

I have lost all faith in Disney animators. I think it's sad that they have forsaken quality for quantity. In the last several years, the only decent things they've come out with AT ALL are "Lilo and Stitch," "The Emperor's New Groove," and "Mulan." But this one falls in with such travesties as "Hercules," "Pocahontas," and "Treasure Planet." Not to mention all those HIDEOUS sequels we see running rampant.

Take my advice -- take that money you were GOING to spend seeing "Brother Bear" and instead rent a GOOD Disney movie -- or, better yet, something done by Pixar, who still produces excellent work.

Summary: Brother Bear Makes Me Wish I Had A Brother
Review: Okay, I'll be honest. When I started out to see this film, I was DREADING it... My grandparents decided this would be a great way for all of us "to bond" so my squealing younger sibs and I were dragged across town in the freezing cold to see Disney's latest "masterpiece". This is the kind of film that seriously blows your mind... The animation is MAGNIFICENT... Everyone is going to stop reading this review the second after reading this next second but I just HAVE to say something. I thought "Finding Nemo" was cute and funny, but everyone's acting like it's the greatest movie of all time! I just feel... confused... I mean, I thought it was a good movie, but nothing like extraordinary... To be honest, while I do love Pixar, and I think their movies and animation style are awesome, I'm an old softy with hand-drawn animation... Disney's really gonna regret abandoning it... This movie is heartwarming and hilarious at the same time. I love how the brothers react to each other... It's so... REALISTIC! (And funny at the same time...) The moose crack me up too... I definately recommend this movie, probably not to teens older than 15 and probably no younger than 5 or 6. Great movie, rent it when it comes out and you won't regret it!

Summary: Ok
Review: This film came out to theaters November 1st...and my son and I saw it a little after that. While watching this film, the two of us thought that is definately was a cute film, and it had some of the Disney trademark on it, but it was not one of the better ones out there. I thought that the story overall was a bit boring. It was not real high action, and it was a bit too cutesy for my taste. It is not a bad film...but it surely is not the best ethier.

Summary: A wonderful movie
Review: I've just seen this movie and can't wait to get the DVD. This is one of the most beautiful movies of Disney in the last few years. The characthers, the color, the music,....etc. everything is perfect and the end is very exciting. You'll enjoy it very much.
