Summary: More enjoyable than the first but...
Review: The quality of the story is suberb and the acting is excellent. The quality of the print used for the digital transfer leaves a lot to be desired, however. There were too many artifacts like dust, streaks and other tell tale signs of dirt for a film this new. There are also dropouts in the 5.1 digital feed which were annoying.

Summary: AN ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT LITTLE FILM!
Review: what an amazing performance lindsey lohan turns out in her exceedingly complex role as identical twins (with COMPLETELY unique personalities, mannerisms, ACCENTS!...) in this incredibly cute and very well-done remake of the classic "parent trap." i give her props...along with the rest of the cast for a truly enchanting movie experience! it's a great popcorn-sleepover-silly film for ANY age! (trust me....i'm 24....i loved it.) ENJOY!

Summary: A Director's Cut, Please
Review: This movie is crying for a "director's cut". I am over 50 and think that this is one of the most beautiful, touching, and brilliant movies I have ever seen. The casting, the script, the use of music, the humor, the off-beat items, such as the little boy accidentally sent to an all girls camp... all triple 10s.

As articulated by many of the other comments, Lindsay Loham is just brilliant, as is the actress playing Merideth, the femme fatale. I have noticed in the previews that there is at least one scene which didn't make it into the final cut. Also, this movie was a big hit of 1998 and even grossed more than many major movies, such as "A Perfect Murder".

Even some of the reviewers who have been upset by the movie, because it fails to show the pain of a divorce, are evidence of the power of this movie and its positive message for all parties regarding the need for intact families. I hope this gets Nancy Meyers back to the editing room for that director's cut.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I'm 15 and I saw the original Parent Trap on cable a couple of years ago. I thought it was great. Then Disney came out with the remake. I know how most remakes go, and I admit that I was a little unsure that the remake would be as good as the original. To my surprise, it was! In my opinion, it was even better than the original! Lindsay Lohan was the perfect choice for the dual roll as Hallie Parker and Annie James. As you all probably already know, Annie lives with her mother, Elizebeth (played by Natasha Richardson), in London while Hallie lives with her dad, Nick (played by Dennis Quaid) in Napa California.

Hallie and Annie are sent to Camp Walden For Girls in maine, where they meet each other. At first, they are not very fond of each other and pull practal jokes upon one another. For the bad behavior, they are sent to an Isolation Cabin where they will have to spend the rest of camp together: they eat together, sleep together (differnet beds), and do all their activities together. They finaly realize that they are twins, and come up with a plan to get the divorced parent back together again.

They switch places, Hallie going to London, and Annie going to Napa. However, a problem is formed when nick gets engaged to Meredith Blake.

That's as far as i'll go, don't want to spoil the ending if you haven't seen it yet. I thought it was a great movie and I recommend it to everyone!

Summary: the movie compared with the book
Review: After seeing a good movie based on a book, do you like to read the book? So do I! That's why I read Erich Kastner's novel, translated under the title of "Lisa and Lottie." Lisa lives with Daddy, who is an opera conductor in Vienna. Lottie lives with Mommy, who is employed by a periodical in Munich. When they meet, there is none of the feuding which we see in both of the Disney movies. (Kastner was imprisoned by the Nazis for his pacifist convictions. He might have disapproved.) The girls take a trip to town and have their picture taken. The photographer makes an extra copy and sends it to the periodical in Munich as a curiosity. At the end of the camp season, the girls make the switcheroo. They exchange messages by General Delivery until Lottie meets Cruella's counterpart. The shock renders Lottie bed-ridden, so Lisa stops receiving messages. About this time, the news is slow in Munich. The editor shows Mommy the photograph of the twins and asks her to write a caption. Mommy realizes the truth and presses Lisa for an explanation. Lisa says that they have been exchanging letters, but she hasn't received any in a while. Mommy correctly infers that Lottie is ill. So Mommy and Lisa take a trip to Vienna, and voila! The book is a short children's novel, and I was able to read it in three hours. It's not nearly the tear-jerker that the movie is, but it was nice and entertaining. Incidentally, didn't Annie and Hallie both say that their birthday was October 14? That must have been for a touch of authenticity!

Summary: G R E A T !!!!
Review: Let me start by saying I am a mature adult having lived almost half a century. I have seen many movies and for some unknown reason this one has grabbed me. In the past two months I have watched it at least 20 times and each time found something I had not seen before.

Why?! Because this is a FUN movie. If you let yourself forget you are an ADULT and just watch you will find a wonderful story that is funny, romantic, and touching. You laugh, you cry, and if you have one ounce of romance in your body you feel the emotions of Annie and Hallie, their parents Nick and Elizabeth, and the supporting roles such as Martin and Chessy the respective butlers.

All of the actors do an excellent job with their chacters. Of particular note is Lindsay Lohan. A dual role is always demanding, but her ability to transititon between the unique differences of Hallie and Annie, both in language and personality, is amazing. She is an ACTRESS in the best sense of the word. I look forward to seeing her time and again in the years to come. (Of note other actresses who played dual roles in Disney films include Haley Mills [The Parent Trap] and Jodie Foster [Freaky Friday]. Pretty good company for a young star.)

One other componet is the soundtrack. Songs by Nat "King" Cole, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Linda Rondstadt, and others make excellent backdrops to many moments of the movie. In addition the score accentuates the emotions in just the right manner.

It is very seldom I feel so positive about a movie. To paraphase Annie (Hallie when she is pretending to be Annie in London) as she speaks about her stuffed animal I "really, really, really" loved The Parent Trap.

Do yourself a favor and see it!!!

Summary: "The Parent Trap" Movies Will Never Grow Old!
Review: I've seen (and have) the 1961 version, and I just love it! I went to the cinema to watch the "updated" version, not expecting much, as I'd already seen the remake of "That Darn Cat" (disappointing, although the original was hilarious!). But, this one was BRILLIANT! Lindsay Lohan was great, so was Dennis Quaid, Chessie (?) and Martin, but the best was Natasha Richardson, especially with the drunk scene and all her British comedy-like lines!

Summary: Fantastic!
