Summary: One of the Best Movies for Children
Review: I have rented this DVD from Blockbuster numerous times. I have been looking in stores for this particular DVD and finally ordered it on line. My daughters, who are ages 3, 4 and 6 love this movie. It was on regular TV the other night and they were upstairs in the playroom. As soon as they heard the music, they knew which movie it was and came running down the stairs to watch it. This is one movie they can watch all day. (And it's not a cartoon.) They just love this movie. It's very entertaining for them, not scary. I would recommend this movie in a heartbeat.

Summary: I love this movie
Review: I am an adult who loves to watch the disney channel. Everytime Hocus Pocus come on I get so excited. This movie is worth the money you will pay for it. It is definently underrated and should be given more credit. Bette Midler is fantastic in it.

Summary: Halloween Fun
Review: Thsi movie seemed to get a bad rap at the time of its release. I remember numerous people commenting on how stupid it is. However, I think that's unjust. The cast is a riot namely the three witches perfectly played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. The plot revolves around these three witches coming back to life 300 years after being hanged. they then set off to take the lives of every child in Salem so they can live forever. As ludicrous as the plot seems, the three bumbling, wise-cracking and sometimes pitifully stupid witches are so fun on screen, that the plot isn't even really anything to focus on. And of course, Bette gets her chance to sing at an adult Haloween party, when at the same time she's cursing all of them to "dance until they die." I always oddly find myself singing along. This movie is great fun not only on Halloween but year round.

Summary: The Best!
Review: This movie is by far one of my all-time favorites! I have been a huge fan of it since it first came out in 1993. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy played their best in the movie and if I could use 10 stars, I would. Everyone should buy it if they don't already have it!

Summary: Funny, spooky movie that the kids and I just love
Review: This is probably the most entertaining Halloween movie I've seen.

The story is a little bit scary - but not gory or too frightening. The bad witches are quite funny and boy, can they sing!

The costumes are wonderful - the music is great. Bette Midler is truly hilarious. (All three witches are hilarious.)

It's much more funny than creepy. Definitely lighthearted fun.

The only reservation I have in recommending this as a family movie, is that the trouble all starts because a virgin lit a candle in the witches' old house, thus bringing them back from the dead. The fact that the boy was a virgin was mentioned a number of times (he was teased about it by his kid sister.) And so, a couple of my kids then asked what virgin means. Which is a question that can come up around Christmastime, too, so it's not really that terrible. But I wanted to mention it so any parents reading this review are aware of it.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This movie is excellent for adults and kids alike.. But i think especially for teenagers.. cuz i am one. This movie is so much fun, yet sometimes you get scared. My favorite scary part is when sarah jessica parker sings a song to get all the children so they can steal their souls.. it has a very haunting melody.. "come little children I'll take thee away.. into a land of enchantment..." very creepy but an A+ movie!

Summary: This movie put a spell on me... and now it's mine!
Review: Over the years, there have been cheesey and stupid Halloween films. There have been stupid and cheesey Disney films. "Hocus Pocus" does not belong in either of those categories. It is a funny, slightly scary and above all, entertaining film for most of the family. Disney definetely pushed the envelope here (how many jokes were there about a virgin lighting the candle?). I remember being seven or eight and wanting to watch this move, but I wasn't allowed to because it was too scary. Now it is easily my faviorite Holloween flick and is definitely on my A list of movies. Bette Midler does a great job at being funny and truly frightening at the same time. The other two were funny but not scary. She is my favorite character, and her rendition of "I put a spell on you" is easily one of the film's highlights. What the heck were the critics thinking?
