Summary: Rocking Family Film...
Review: We just took the kids to see this at the theatre today. I'll tell you now that we're buying the DVD when it comes out, and I'm going to track down the soundtrack as well... The movie was great, Lindsay Lohan & Jamie Lee Curtis did a great job together and had the famliy spell bound, laughing, crying and my 3-yr-old dancing in the aisle. Here's to a great new addition to the family video library.

Summary: Dissapointing
Review: When I first saw the trailers for this remake, I figured Lindsay Lohman is no Jodie Foster, but Jamie Lee Curtis would more than make up for that... Although, after seeing "Freaky Friday" at an advance screening last week, I was very disappointed. After 1 hour and 45 minutes of this movie, and only having laughed occasionally at seeing Jamie Lee in some goofy moments, I could not put my finger on why this movie had failed to meet my expectations. Overall, the movie's weak point was it too itself to darn seriously. Jamie Lee Curtis plays "Tess" a work-a-holic psychologist who seems to have no sane patients. Lindsay Lohman plays Tess's daughter, "Amy", who plays in a garage rock band with her friends. They both have their hectic lifestyles... Tess has to treat neurotic patients all day, then come home composed and try to help her kids adjust to a new stepfather... Amy has to make sure she's not wearing the same shirt as someone else at school, she has to try to get a date with her secret crush - the janitor, and try to stay out of detention. The only issue is, Amy's problems are all trivial, which she should not care so much about, and certainly the audience doesn't care about. Her complaints are her mom is "ruining her life" by not letting her do this or that, and her mom's complaints are why can't her daughter get over it. So when the plot THICKENS and they trade places, you really don't care about Amy's perspective because, she's well... a bratty teenager, and you don't really care about Tess's perspective because her mind is in the body of a character you've grown to loathe in just the first 20 minutes. Had this movie been as light and silly as the "Charlie's Angels" or "Austin Powers" movies, it could of gotten away with the mistakes it made. ...And every now and then throughout the movie, you get a glimpse at what could of been... scenes like Tess dressed in teenage "fashion" after spending her day shopping (with a teenager's mindset), and later the mother eating French fries (in her daughter's body), something she normally forbids herself from doing. But the majority of the movie is not a silly, fun movie, but a shove-it-down-your-throat-and-make-you-cry melodrama disguised as a fun family film. ...And maybe most people would not expect any more than that from a Disney live-action movie, but I did. Basically, "Freaky Friday" tries exasperatingly hard at something, which is almost always unattainable in a movie with such a silly plot device, SINCERITY.

Review: This is an awesome movie! Its perfect for young girls and their mothers. Freaky Friday is about a mom and a daughter who don't know what each others life is like and when they get into an arguement at a chinese restaurant they both read the same fortune in a fortune cookie and switch places. Then they begin to see just how the others life is. When I went to see this movie the theater was packed and I don't think anyone left disappointed. This movie had its funny moments and some sad moments but overall it was an excellent movie and I hope you all go see it on Aug. 6th when it opens worldwide!!!

Summary: Hard Rockin' Remake of Freaky Friday
Review: My wife and I attended the sneak peak premiere for Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan and Mark Harmon. Lohan and Curtis play off each other extremely well, especially when the "reverse" occurs. The movie works well in the fact that Lohan's character represents a normal, repressed teenage girl and the kids around her at school could be a snapshot from any era, just that they are definitely based in 2003. Her band Pink Slip sounds like a cross between The Donnas (who are on the movie soundtrack) and Kay Hanley (Letters To Cleo) in the Josie and the Pussycats movie. Curtis' character could be just about any professional adult with PDA's, cell phones and pagers all going off at one time and forgetting the most important thing in her life, family. It was great to see a film with teenagers rocking out instead of falling into the force fed urban trends of rap and basketball. I really hope Disney TV itself starts taking this approach and gets away from the rap for the kids during their video shows. Freaky Friday is an excellent movie for the entire family kids through adults (no swearing) with a lot of funny sight gags and as well as physical humor. Outside of a brief shot of Jamie Lee in a thong, there is nothing in this movie that would be considered offensive, although the movie is rated PG.

Review: I was very happy when I got Freaky Friday for christmas and I enjoy every moment of it. It has a little of everything for the whole family. Rock, love and comdey it just a feel good movie for any age.

Summary: Changing Bodies (with Your Daughter): Delightful Family Pic
Review: This is the remake of the 1977 original starring one child star Jodie Foster. Anyone who said remakes stink should reconsider his idea, for the newer "Freaky Friday" is one of the delightful family pictures Disney gave us in this decade. The body-switching story is simple enough. Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) is an upright and principled psychatrist (and widow) who is busy preparing for the coming marriage, and her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) is a high school student who wants to have a date with a boy, play rock music; in short, she needs a little bit more freedom. Then, at a Chinese restaurant, they embarrasingly argue in front of the mother's love Ryan (Mark Harmon). And then, the owner of the place offers a pair of fortune cookie, which, believe it or mot, have a magical power to change the roles of mother and daughter. Tess is in Anna's body, and Anna in Tess's. We know where "Freaky Friday" will lead you eventually, so let's wait for the film to be better and funnier as it goes on. The first 20 minutes may look too banal, following the storyline of typical family pictures (a kid in detention class, mother worrying about her, and so on ...), but that is exactly the point. After their bodies are switched, the things get wild, crazy, and funny ... probably more funnier than you expect. That is all because of the two great leading ladies -- Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan (the latter played the double roles in "The Parent Trap," another good remake). The way Lee Curtis changes the make-up (in the punk fashion, of course) and takes over the TV show with comic talk is one of the many highlights of the film. With her, Lohan always gives an amusing contrast as a rebellous daughter, then a dutiful one. (The only reason I do not give five stars is Chinese restaurant setting which looks trite to me -- and I didn't want to see Rosalind Chao in this way -- and its slightly weaker supporting actors). And most of all, what is great about the film is that Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are not only great talents but also they are having fun doing what they can do. And this fun is very contagious -- the kind of fun we can all share.

Review: This is a hilarious movie. It is not all so funny, but a few parts here and there are funny. Like one part, when the guy Anna likes,Jake, sings the classic " Baby Hit Me One More Time ". When he said " still believe ", it was just so hilarious that me and my brother cracked up and like tears were coming out of my eyes. You can tell that he needed singing lessons. Lol! Watch this movie if you haven't already.
