Summary: Quintessential Disney -- Excellent DVD presentation
Review: "Pollyanna" is one of Walt Disney's finest live-action films, and this "Vault Disney" release is superlative. Most fans would have been pleased with the THX restoration and wide-screen presentation alone, yet Disney includes countless extras presented in a unique, user-friendly format. The extras are entertaining and informative. Congratulations to everyone at Buena Vista Home Video involved in this outstanding release that showcases the Disney Company at its best. My family and I hope these four "Vault Disney" releases ( including Swiss Family Robinson, Old Yeller, and The Parent Trap) are just the beginning of an ongoing series and that Disney continues to release ALL of its films in their original theatrical ratios.

Summary: A charming, wonderfully performed, BELIVEABLE film
Review: A vast improvement on the cutesy, blatantly unrealistic and cliched book on which it's based, the Disney film version of Pollyanna has a very charming feel to it. The talented cast are all great, and really make you believe in them and forget they're all stereotypes, unlike in the book, which was the total opposite. Jane Wyman is quite good as Aunt Polly, and so are Agnes Moorhead, Adolphe Menjou, and espicially Karl Malden. Hayley Mills more than holds her own, delivering a very calm, subtle, BELIEVABLE performance. It's really obvious that she's made such a difference in the town because she interacts so well and effectively with everyone and does it throughout the movie, instead of chatting her mouth off about nothing and thinking that every cold act of her aunt's is an expression of love, like in the book. She stays with each person just long enough to subtly get her point across, but her presence lingers. She deserved her special Academy Award; her performance is excellent, astonishing for a 14-year-old who had only done one other film. She continued to enchant audiences throughout the '60's in other Disney films, all of which (that I've seen) are good and deserving of her talent. There, I've said enough. Get the movie; it's wonderful.

Summary: Not outdated!
Review: Anyone who can watch this movie and not be moved by it is made of ice. This movie is not outdated. I started watching it with my children before we went out to eat and we ended up watching the whole thing. My children are very picky and do not like goody goody movies or movies that where not released yesterday. They loved this one. Whether you like Disney movies or not, if you have kids or simply want to watch a great movie, this is the movie!

Summary: A Charmer!
Review: As much as I like Disney's animated movies it is really nice and a refreshing change to watch a Disney movie that isn't a cartoon and I think that Pollyanna is one of Disney's best live action movies, ranking right up there with The Parent Trap, That Darn Cat and several others. Pollyanna is a sweet and charming story about a cheerful young girl who goes to live with her aunt, an unhappy woman who has forgotten what it's like to be young and optimistic and Pollyanna spreads her joy throughout the town even befriending the town grouch played by Agnes Moorehead but soon Pollyanna will need some cheering herself during a time of tragedy. I recommend this movie it's a real charmer. When I first saw this movie I liked it but thought it was a bit long so younger kids might get a little restless but older kids who can sit through a movie that is longer than 80 minutes should like it and also adults. I recommend this movie to ages 5 and older.

Summary: A Must Own
Review: DVD #2 alone is worth the price of admission not to mention the movie in DVD #1. If you are a Disney movie fan, you will enjoy the collection both for the story and what it took to restore the film. The 1960's had a real problem with color negative film going bad over time but with the method described in the DVD, they saved (restored) a superb movie and prevented it from being destroyed due to age. It is a must see for anyone young or old and if you saw it in a movie theater as I did as a youngster when it was first released, it will bring back some great memories.

Summary: Pollyanna touches every heart.
Review: Grab your pillow, your favorite stuffed animal and head into the family wagon! Wait! Come Back! Okay, the days of the Drive-in movie are all but gone. But, the folks from Disney have created a terrific alternate experience with their "Vault Disney" DVD series. Each film fully restored, commentaries and documentaries galore and a cartoon short (Mickey Mouse in THE NIFTY NINETIES) preceding it making the evening a family event just like the Drive-in... without the fumes or the fighting with your brother.

After losing her parents, Pollyanna is sent to stay with her wealthy controlling Aunt Polly. But Pollyanna is innocently immune from her Aunt's control. Gradually, the browbeaten town starts to brighten up in conjunction with Pollyanna's optimistic viewpoint. Eventually, it all comes to a head when Pollyanna is given tragic cause to sour her own attitude. Try as you will to avoid it, tears will fall.

Pollyanna elevated Hayley Mills to Super Stardom and an optimistic reputation that she still can't shake. And her effervescence makes the hoopla worth it. Pollyanna's optimism comes out of Mills mouth as if it were her own. Several wonderful performers including Jane Wyman, Agnes Moorhead, Karl Malden and Disney favorite Kevin Corcoran surround her. Director/Screenwriter David Swift does a great job bringing the favorite novel to the screen. So much so that he was asked to helm Hayley next film THE PARENT TRAP.

The Disney Organization continues to provide its fan base with many smiles with its DVD output. The vault collection also includes other family favorites THE PARENT TRAP, SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON and OLD YELLER. They have also started their archive collection, which includes THE SILLY SYMPHONIES, the entire DAVY CROCKETT series, important episodes of DISNEYLAND, and color MICKEY MOUSE cartoons. Let's keep 'em coming!

Summary: "Hayley Mills is great in 'Pollyanna'"
Review: Hayley Mills in her first Disney movie ever. In "Pollyanna", she plays a 12-year old orphan who comes to Harrington Town to stay with her aunt Polly (Jane Wyman). The whole town needs some happiness,so Pollyanna invents "The Glad Game" to make everyone fell better. Hayley sings a delightful version of "America The Beautiful" in the scene where all the girls dress up as the American flag. Hayley Mills won an Academy Award for her performance as Pollyanna. This movie is fun for the whole family to enjoy!

Summary: A kids movie you can let them watch without worrying
Review: How refreshing to show the kids a movie without anyone getting kicked in the groin, smartass kids whose attitudes are supposed to be funny or questionable language! This is a wonderful, pick-up-your spirits movie with a beautiful performance by Halley Mills. The small-town setting and the message that you can always find something to be glad about make this a terrific movie for children who haven't become jaded after seeing the typical fare that passes for kids entertainment these days. My 13-, 12- and 3-year-olds loved it and my husband and I ended up watching with them just because it was so enjoyable. Jane Wyman, Karl Malden and Agnes Moorhead have fun with their roles as townspeople transformed by Pollyanna's relentlessly sunny outlook on life. This is the type of film that, regrettably, isn't made anymore.
