Summary: A DECENT CHIP AND DALE COLLECTION
Review: i know Chip and Dale have never been among the bigger stars in Disney's stable but rather than this stunted "Classic Cartoons" collection I'd prefer to see Disney give the duo their Own Disney Treasures collection. This DVD features 9 Chip & Dale shorts mostly produced in the 1950's. Because the two were more co-stars at first, it does not include some of the more classic material from the 1940's.

Chicken in the Rough 1951 - Chip an' Dale wander into a farmyard to collect acorns. Dale mistakes an egg for a nut, but when he tries to demonstrate to a newly hatched chick how to get back into the egg, a rooster mistakes him for one of his chicks.

Chip 'n' Dale 1947 - When the snowbound Donald runs out of firewood on a cold morning, he goes out to the forest and unknowingly chops down Chip an' Dale's house for firewood. The chipmunks want their tree limb back, and they give Donald one hard time of it, including a gigantic snowball climax.

Two Chips and a Miss 1952 - Unknown to each other, the boys sneak out at night, decked out in Tuxes to head downtown to meet the same girl, a singer named Clarice.

Food for Feudin' 1950 - A feud begins when Pluto wants to hide his bones in the same tree where Chip an' Dale store their acorns.

Out of Scale 1951 - Chip an' Dale make themselves at home in Donald's model train set.

Working for Peanuts 1953 - Chip and Dale discover a new source of food - peanuts - as long as they can get them away from an elephant named Dolores guarded by zookeeper Donald.

Out on a Limb 1950 - Donald runs into trouble when he decides to prune the tree that happens to be Chip N Dales home.

Three for Breakfast 1948 - Donald's pancakes smell like a better breakfast for Chip an' Dale than acorns. Donald tries to slip them a rubber cement pancake in return.

Dragon Around 1954 - Construction worker Donald tries to oust Chip 'n' Dale out of their home to build a highway, so the chipmunks become knights in shining armor to fight back.

Again, while it would be great to see them get their own Disney Treasures set, I guess Disney's thinking is that they were co-stars usually and they will be included with Donald, Pluto, or Mickey's sets.

Nice collection.

Summary: Classic C&D on DVD!!
Review: I'm Soooo glad Disney Finally put some of Chip & Dale's classic shorts on DVD!! It got kinda old waiting for them to come bit by bit on the complete Mickey, Donald & Pluto Disney Treasures or House of Mouse Christmas DVD - plus it left no hope for C&D only cartoons. This solves that problem!

Overall the DVD's not bad.  I thought it was interesting that the menus have the C&D that are back to back w/ one leg in the air (often used in Japan & also has the coloring like in Japan).  The cover for this DVD is surprisingly similar yet different from the VHS "Nuts about Chip & Dale" (Dale now holds the flowers not Chip).

No extra features *sniff* .  Has previews.

also has closed captioning subtitles.  It's interesting to notice how in the early cartoons they recycled C&D's dialogue ("wow that's a big nut!" when no where near a nut for example).  While it's nice to finally get what they're chattering about, it's also not always accurate.  Especially on "Dragon Around".  They even got Donald's dialogue wrong on that one. But it's great to see it when it's accurate!

They didn't digitally re-master it, they just digitized it.  But considering this might be the last time we see the original specks of dust & film grain (since most of 'em willl start showing up on Pluto & Donald vol 2 Disney Treasures), it's kinda nice.  There's something going on in the top right corner of the last few cartoons on the disc that's weird... I wonder what got on the film!  Anyway...

It has Disney FastPlay on it which makes it run like a VHS tape w/o worrying about the menus which is nice - especially when they still let you skip through the previews when you use it!

Overall not bad - it's what I expected. Since I collect Chip & Dale I'll take whatever Disney gives & accept it joyfully. But that being said, I heard UK DVDs have a vol. 2 which I wish was available in the US so we can see EVERY chip & dale cartoon made (maybe even their cameo in Mickey's Christmas carol!), & I'm still hoping for Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers in season DVD sets...

If you're a Chip & Dale fan - Buy this!!

Summary: Them crazy chipmunks are at it again!!!
Review: This is a cute DVD. For the price, you get 8 or 9 cartoons. Regardless of how many times I have seen these, they are always funny. It will keep a child occupied for an hour. This makes a great birthday or get well present. I am only giving this DVD 4 stars because I had hoped to see more cartoons with Chip and Dale by themselves. Still, the cartoons included with this DVD are funny, especially when Chip and Dale are with Donald Duck.

Summary: The best of the series
Review: This is the best of the Disney Cartoon Classics DVD series, namely because all these Chip 'n Dale shorts are making their DVD debut. A nice Chip 'n Dale starter collection to have until the evitable Walt Disney Treasures collection comes out.
