Summary: One fun DVD
Review: What can I say? If you liked the movie, you'll like the DVD. The extras are cute and funny instead of being hokey or dull. I especially liked the dance party and the interviews with the "actors." This is one I will watch again and again. A definite classic.

Summary: My wife made me watch it the first time!
Review: But, ....I laughed so hard I had to go buy the DVD!! It is animated, but has the sutle humor needed to keep an adult entertained thoughout the show. I was particularly impressed by the marvellous facial expressions captured by the creators. The characters literally come to life on the screen! It is romantic, addresses moral issues in a manner that are not offensive, and includes a number of warm, beautiful songs that enhance the overall experience of this viewing. There is a second disc that has a number of entertaining features that might be attractive to children, but it is the wonderful movie presentation that justifies this purchase. It is just GREAT!

Summary: Lots of fun
Review: Pros: Lots of fun, Mike Myers in his great Scottish accent (remember 'Hed - paans nuw!') is great as Shrek and Eddie Murphy knocks some rust off his humor in a movie where he is neither Disney'ed down nor allowed to play more than one part...
Cons: Cameron Diaz's stiff acting could could take the animation out of a cartoon - who knew? After great work as a stright-woman for Jim Carey in the Mask and Ben Stiller in Something About Mary I had high hopes, but I think she had too many lines. Or maybe they were written down. The music was over-produced light rock that didn't add much to the work.

Still highly recommended.

Summary: how many ... parents are there???
Review: ok first off parents should have known better. i mean come on mike myers, eddie murphy, john lithgow, all more adult actors. plus this is rated PG notice the P in front of the G because parents dont check ratings or they think " o well it must be a kids movie because its got cute characters!" come now be intelligent. now for those who are of good intellect ( or good humor) then you should like this movie. you should also have a somewhat kidlike view of the movie.

Summary: One of the best
Review: This is absolutely one of the best movies I've seen. It has it all - a great story, good characters, hilarious comedy, and everyone in the family can enjoy it. Definetly a top-notch piece of work.

Summary: cynicism inc
Review: the cynicism & cruely in this movie really turned me off. i turned it off about half-way through despite wanting to hear the placement of a favorite song (by rufus wainwright).

the scene with the bluebird of happiness particularly offended, but i thought the jokes were cheap, the dialogue lame, & the message cynical.

Summary: Delightfully funny
Review: This is a wonderfully funny movie. For once, there is an actual 'moral' to this movie. The big ogre Shrek slowly opens his heart to everyone, especially the princess. Make sure you watch the 'outtakes', I think that's the best part. This movie is great for all ages.

Summary: Sickening
Review: Jokes about penis size, erectins, oral sex, and rape come into play strongly in this "Children's" film.

Completely innapropriate. Check this. Shrek and Donkey (that's his name, I'm serious, I guess the makers were to lazy to give him a name) arrive at the prince's castle, which is huge. They look at it, and then Shrek sais "Do you think he's comfensating for something?" (penis size joke). Later, Donkey tells Princess that Shrek said that, and then sais "But I think what he's really trying to say is," and is stopped by Shrek. My five year old daughter asked curiously "What's he talking about, mommy?" I prentended not to know.

I'm under the name..., because I don't want my E-Mail address seen.

Summary: Totally Entertaining!
Review: This is really more of an adult movie than a kiddy-flick. Although I didn't see anything that a child *shouldn't* see, other than the incredible animation & a hilarious donkey, I'm not sure how much is in it for kids. Most of the humor would (at least I hope) be above their heads. But, for adults, there is never-ending humor and every time I watch it, I catch something I've missed before. I absolutely LOVE this movie. Mike Myers & John Lithgow are great but Eddie Murphy rocks as the donkey....by far the funniest character in this movie...but he's supposed to be.

Please, please, please let there be a Shrek sequel!
