Review: This Movie was not only boring for my 8 year old child but I practically slept right through the whole movie. It doesn't even compare with SHREK which was much more entertaining and enjoyable. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Summary: Too dark and violent for kids under 6, not very funny
Review: This is not a cute movie about dogs and cats doing cute things to each other. It is fairly violent and the plot would be impossible for most kids under six to understand. There is an evil cat who threatens to put kidnapped humans "to sleep", there are bombs, a really sick scene about an elderly person's heart stopping that was supposed to be funny - this just didn't seem like a kid movie to me at all, and was certainly inappropriate for my four year old, who hated this movie. As far as some comments other reviewers made about this being funny for the parents, well, I guess it wasn't my sort of thing at all. We loved "Shrek", where the subtle adult humour sailed right over the head of our daughter. She was only a little scared (of the dragon) in Shrek, while she was scared more often than not in this weird little movie. I'd say it's aimed at the 8 - 12 crowd, so if your kids aren't in that range I'd skip this. Dogs and cats can be cute, just not in this movie.

Summary: Cats and dogs The REAL SCOOP
Review: Yes cats and dogs was a funny movie. But I have to complain about the lack of chase scenes and the excessive amount of dialogue. I was really excited to see it from the other reviews but then I saw it and I thought TOO MUCH TALKING!!! I recommend renting it when It comes out on video. I thought the beginning chase scene and the russian spy kitten was funny because I have a russian blue cat.

Review: I'm kind of wondering if I saw the same movie as the people listed below. Same title, same animals as on the movie poster...but it had Jeff Goldblum and Elizabeth Perkins in it, and was a total waste of time and money. I saw this at a drive in theatre (Yes, there really is one of those still around.) with my hubby and 13 & 15 year old girls. Total snoozer. Yes, there were a few good lines, but otherwise I just found it tired. Maybe this might appeal more to a younger audience? But it doesn't have the snap of a great Disney flick that can be enjoyed by parents as well as kids. There has GOT to be a better film to spend the money on.

Summary: Cats & Dogs: The Review
Review: Cats & Dogs tells the epic tale of a war that has been waged sinse the start of time. The film tells of a story of an alliance of cats who will stop at nothing to rule the world. The dogs try and stop them. Going into this film, I will be the first to admit I thought it would be kiddish and not that funny. I was happily wrong. The film has an excellent voice talent and a nice cast. The film has jokes that do not get stale, and they keep them coming. The animation used for the mouths and action is done very well. The one bad thing about the film is the whole family part. I think the movie could of just been about the cats and dogs instead of the family. Maybe, they could of just used Jeff Goldblum, I did not really like the mother or the son. Amoung the others, some of my favorite characters where the "Russian Cat", the lackey cat played by Jon Lovitz and of course "Lou". A very good choice for the whole family, but also not boring for the teens. Have a good one, I hoped I helped in your choice to see this film, one way or another. Ryan

Review: I just saw this movie and have to say it is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Forget every villain you have seen recently (even Dr. Evil); the only other villain I can remember that is as cool as Mr. Tinkles is Darth Vader, and that's a totally different genre of movie. The story is a very humorous notion of a major, time-spanning conflict between cats and dogs for supremacy on the Earth, punctuated by some excellent, clean humor. I highly recommend this movie. It is an excellent diversion, and I can guarantee that when you come home if you don't start talking to your pet, you will at least be keeping a watchful eye on him (her).

Summary: Light humor, Entertaining
Review: This is a cute, chuckle-filled movie about the war between cats and dogs. The special effects are pretty cool-and the fight scenes that allude to movies like the Matrix are fun to watch. If you view this as a movie mainly for kids but look for the subtle things that only adults can catch (for example, when Buddy says "Don't wet the papers yet") you'll enjoy it. If you come to the movie expecting heavy drama and a less than superficial storyline, you'll leave disappointed.

Review: The unfortunate thing about this movie is that there is so much promise in the concept, but it falls flat on its face. The director, Guterman, as well as the screenwriters Glenn Ficarra, John Requa seem to be desperately trying to cover every base when it comes to writing a "family" type of movie. In doing so, they do a poor job on every one. The jokes are stale (I heard children in the audience laugh once-and that was at the end), the heart-felt scenes are incredibly drawn out and sappy, the action scenes predictable and mind-numbing, and even the computer modified expressions of the talking animals are often exaggerated and unnatural. Jeff Goldblum reprises his role as a zealous scientist who has difficulty uttering a clear and concise sentence, but this time he throws in a dash of Nutty Professor. He as well as the other characters of this movie are paper cut outs of real characters- two dimensional and uninteresting. If you believe that this film may entertain children more than it did me, well I actually saw children getting restless and parents having to get them back into their seats. Perhaps the only consolation I had as a movie-goer was that I got to see the newest trailer for Harry Potter. Do yourself as well as your child a favor and go see Atlantis again -- or god forbid even the over hyped Shrek.

Summary: Anything But Clever
Review: Awesome, clever, funny is what the commercials claim, but this movie is anything but. Going to the theatre purely on the word clever was the entire reason I ventured into a children's movie that I was sure would contain cutsey puppies and kittens. This movie ended up unclever and empty. First off, the special effects are quite sub-par. They were done with a combination of computer effects and puppets, and both were incredibly obvious. The jerky, muppet-like puppets were very simple and linear in movement. The computer effects were very cartoonish, causing a stark contrast. Of course a Matrix effect is added in the fight scene, which has been incredibly overused. And, for a movie relying on special effects, this was a bad move. Jeff Goldblum is purely used to get people to see this movie, and it is obvious. He is very underused and his character could really have been played by anyone. Camera angles during fight sequences were switched too fast and made it very confusing. Areas where they were fighting seemed to constantly be changing. Holes in the plot are also rampant. The plot is a little too advance for younger viewers, as well, making it boring for toddlers. This movie has a few chuckle funny parts, and that's about it. It is mostly slapstick and cute one-liners combining common catchphrases with dog jokes. This movie is perfect for young teen girls who love cute dogs and cats, and any parent dragged to this needs to bring a book.
