Summary: What!?!?
Review: Stupid.Weird.Boring.Those 3 words decribe Scooby-Doo.I hated this movie. It probably took about 10 minutes to make. The acting and writing were down right dumb.I am really mad at mysleve for not taking a book with me when I went to see this movie! I really wanted to throw my drink at "The Big Screen" while this movie was playing.Don't make the same mistake I did. Save about 90 minutes of your life. It's no mystery why so many people hate it.

Summary: Another Mystery solved!
Review: This was a fantastic, funny, and witty movie. It stayed true to the slapstick humor of the television series, while updating the jokes to fit modern life, and they finally stopped saying "Groovy!" The cast is the best they could have possibly picked, and do a great job. There is a little bit of crude humor, but kids most likely won't understand it anyway. The plotline is a little different from typical Scooby-Doo, but it still turns out the same. When wondering whether or not you should go to see this movie, definatly Scooby-Doo!

Summary: True to form
Review: I have read most of the other reviews, and it is apparent that they were written based on the previews. And one review gave a major plot point away...SHAME! I found that the story was true to the cartoon, including how the bad guy is someone that does not appear often in the movie. Does anyone really expect there to be much of a plot? Every SCOOBY-DOO episode was practically the same, so how is that any different than this movie. If you want decent SCOOBY-DOO plots, watch ZOMBIE ISLAND, THE WITCH'S GHOST, and ALIEN SPACE INVADERS. I enjoyed the plot of SCOOBY. Of course, I think it could have been better at times, but let me remind you of two things: 1. The movie is aimed for a young audience (though I agree that it pushes the limits of PG). And 2. There is only so much you can do when basing a film on some other piece of work. (Rumor also has it that SCOOBY-DOO was in the works with an even more adult script than what we got. Way beyond the references to "POT". Though the big reference was a girl named "Mary Jane". Can we be honest here? Look how she is dressed. Look how Shaggy practically drools over her the whole time. Listen to the music. ...But those things have been questioned as long as I can remember. WHY DO FRED AND DAPHNE ALWAYS GO TO FIND CLUES TOGETHER?) Ultimately, the movie works because it's making fun of itself and the cartoon that inspired it. I think it could have done without the belching/farting contest Shaggy and Scooby have, but that is simply humor everyone understands even if it is disgusting. But it is not as disgusting as let's say THE POWERPUFF GIRLS, which is extremely sexist, racist and homophobic for a cartoon rated TV-Y7. The TV-G rated SCOOBY is much more appropriate than that; so is the PG-rated movie that knows it probably isn't the best movie in the world, but tries and succeeds at being better than what most people expect.

Summary: A fun, campy romp through cartoon-land
Review: (spoilers within...)

This movie pleased me much more than I expected. I was never that big of a fan of the show, but I knew the basics going into this. Every little campy bit of the original show was back, with much, much more humour thrown in for good measure. I found myself laughing throughout this entire movie, and at one point early on, hoping for a "Scooby Doo Too" with Scrappy in it, just before finding out that Scrappy is IN this movie, and in a very big way. Matthew Lillard pulls off the voice of Shaggy perfectly (Casey Kasem should be proud) Thoroughly enjoyable movie, even if you're not a fan of the show.

Summary: Scooby Doo not for kids
Review: As a fan of the original mystery laden Scooby I was let down. This movie had all kinds of cultic darkness, voodoo, demons, soul swapping. It should have gotten a pg-13 rating. The only thing worth while was the interaction between Scoob and Shag which was very funny. Matthew Lillard in my opinion did the best job as Shaggy. Linda Cardellini did a good velma impression. Freddie Prinze Jr was a bad fred and fred was an egotistical idiot in the movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar was only fair. I wouldnt let my kids see it.

Summary: Rery Ritty Rovie....
Review: Hmmmm... ah, the profanities of the Great Dane. (g)

Well, I'm a gen-x'er, a slacker, born in 1970 ... so, of course, I have fond memories of those meddling kids. Yeah, the series was cheesy, repetetive and poorly animated. It was still fun, and quite the nostalgia trip.

This movie ... well, I'm not sure who the audience is supposed to be. 30-something nostaglic fans like me? Modern kids? There seem to be things to appeal to both groups and things to annoy both.

The plot is ... well, really this movie could be a half hour long. Then it would be tighter, more focused and probably funnier.

It's odd that the movie takes pot shots at the post-1970s incarnations of Scooby-Doo, but at the same time makes elements of those water-downed versions a central part of the movie. I'm thinking of the genuine supernatural menances that appeared in the 1980s series... and well, better not spoil that surprise.

The writing and direction were fairly weak. And I felt that both Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar were sub-standard. Disappointing, as SMG is a good actress on Buffy.
On the other hand, Shaggy (Matthew Lillard has been possessed by Casey Kasem) and Velma both invoked the classic TV series and entertained in this movie. But zoinks, even the classic beatnik Shaggy couldn't save it.

As Velma observes in the commercials, the name means Scooby-Poop.

Summary: Shaggy and Scooby-Doo will satisfy fans of the cartoon
Review: Scooby Doo is out, and as advertised, the leads, four experienced actors and a good computer generated image, look the parts. Matthew Lillard absolutely nails the part of Shaggy. As written and acted, Shaggy is a young man who is pleasant to hang out with on one had, but on other hand performs the visual comedy, with a cgi dog just as you remember from the cartoons.

Fred Prince, Jr plays Fred as a handsome male model--I thought of Fred as high school two or three letter athlete who also was class or student body president--but this interpretation works. Sarah Michelle Geller and Linda Cardellini bring Daphne and Velma to life.

The problem with the movie is in the structure. First we join the team at the very end of case, which provides some brisk action which entertained the whole audience. At the conclusion of the first case, the team has artistic differences, like a young rock band, and the members decide to pursue solo careers. Two years later, they are reunited on a new case which they undertake while discussing their differences. I would have like more detail of the first case to see the actor's translate the characters from cartoon to live action as we remember them before undertaking changes in the characters.

The transitional phase (between first case and actually starting to work on the second case) lost the audience. The little children, who were a good share of the audience, responded to the action sequences, and interaction of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo. The adults might have responded better to have the characters changes acted out more than discussed. I watched the cartoon series with my kids as they grew up, and enjoyed the hints, invisible to the kids, such as the nature of the smoke in the van, Fred and Daphne going off together to look for clues, and some folks have suggested more to Velma's character than was obvious. The live movie does not leave much to the viewer's imagination.

However, when the reunited team goes into action to investigate the mystery and uncover the villain, everyone was entertained. There was a lot for fans of the Scooby-Doo series to like in this movie and Matthew Lillard's Shaggy interacting with cgi Scooby-Doo is so strong that anyone who enjoyed the cartoon will also enjoy this movie.

Summary: Talk about going to the Dogs.
Review: I really could not tell what was worse, the terrible CGI Scooby, for the poor taste jokes told by the whole cast in the course of this movie. Not surprising when you look at the cast of people in this movie ...who have all appeared in very ranchy TV shows and films already. Not for this film goer, No Thank You.

Summary: Scooby Doo Indeed
Review: I found this movie to be very good. I felt like i was watching one of the cartoon episodes. It had enough laughs to satisfy me. The critics who trash this movie are not true fans, and you should see the movie to make up your own mind about it.
