Summary: classic cartoon into lame movie
Review: I am seriously and very dissappointed on how the classic HB cartoon was transformed into a movie that should never been made. What made the movie unbarable to watch was how they got Fred, Daphine and Scooby's characters all wrong! Freddie Prince Jr. was a complete idiot and Sarah Michelle Gellar was just stuck up. Scooby-Doo...Ugh! I wanted to put that dog out of its misery! Matthew Lillard did an excellent job of portraiting Shaggy. He had the look, attitude, the voice, and the huge appeite that the cartoon character had. Linda Cardellini also did a excellent job for Velma! Velma never looked so hot!! The plot of the story was unforgiving! The mystery of the movie was so easy it could of been solved just by seeing Scooby-Doo's annoying nephew Scrappy make his appearance in the middle of the movie. Scrabby vowed revenge against Mystery Inc. and the monsters looked just like him. You do the math. The movie makes annoying references to "Grass". When smoke was coming out the Mystery van, the name of the girl that befriends Shaggy and the reaction that Shaggy makes when the monster exhales on him. The computer animation was very poorly done especially on Scooby. The dog hopped around too much it looked like they rushed it just so the movie could be out in the summer. The only funny gag was the fart challenge Shagg and Scoob made. And finally the ending of the movie suggested to the audience that there could be sequels. But could humanity really survive another Scooby movie?!

Summary: Some good - some really bad
Review: I loved the Scooby Doo cartoons as a kid and my son loves them now. I went into this movie thinking it would be really stupid and it did have some funny scenes.

The best thing in this movie was Shaggy! The guy had it down. Scooby was good also. I really like Freddy Prinze Jr and would like to see him in more "chick" flicks but in this movie he was really bad - at least his character was. Fred wasn't this vein stupid guy in the cartoon. For that matter I don't remember Daphne being that bad either. Although Velma was always the wiz, Fred and Daphne were just regular characters in the cartoon and here they were just stupid.

The plot with Scrappy actually kind of ruined a fair show. The movie was a 3 star for me until they brought Scrappy.

It's fun for the kids which is the only reason I went.

Summary: Matthew Lilliard - three stars, movie -- one
Review: I grew up watching the cartoons, and when I found out there was a live action film being made, I cringed. There is just no way that the movie could be up to the same standard as the original Scooby Doo.
The movie would have been totally unbearable to watch had it not been for the down right perfect portrayal of Shaggy by Matthew Lilliard. He made the film all that more watchable. I am of the opinion that if any other actor had played Shaggy, this film would have been a total stinker. He saves it! He had the voice, and the whole Shaggy attitude.
As far as the other characters go, I think SMG was just playing Buffy, especially in her fight scenes. I don't recall the character of Daphne being that vain or stupid.
Linda Cardellini, who plays Velma, was totally jinky! She was as close to the character as you could get. She had the look down and even the voice.
Freddie Prinze Jr...ugh! Get some acting lessons, Freddie! You are not a good actor. Fred was never effiminate even if he did wear that little red scarf.
And the title doggie, Scooby Doo, well, you gotta love Scoob. He is a good pup.
Speaking of pups, what was up with Scrappy doo? I never liked Scrappy on the cartoon, in fact, I don't think anyone did. So why did he have to be in this?
This movie is an entirely different experience than the original. It had a few funny momments, most of them with Shaggy and Scooby Doo.
It plays like an overlong Scooby episode, and not one of the better ones. I am only recommending this movie because of Lilliard's performance.

Summary: Great "FUN" Film
Review: You have got to be a real Scooby Doo fan to like this film. I loved it. When all ages walk away from a film like this with a big smile on their face, that should say it all. It made me feel really young again!

Summary: The Most Hilarious Movie of the Centry!
Review: Scooby Doo was the most funny movie ever! The actors were great! Especially Sarah Michelle Gellar aka Daphne. She plays in Buffy the Vampire Slayer a completely different script and she rocks in both of them! And Shaggy sounds excactly like Shaggy on the cartoon!
The only thing that needed just a little bit of changing was the part about the monsters being inside the humans. Usually in the cartoon there was a villian that dressed up as the ghost. In this one there was real monsters that I don't think are appropiate for young children.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves to laugh and loves a good story.

Summary: Scoooby Dooby Doooooo was awright
Review: I grew up as a kid watchin Scooby Doo and watched them over as over as they were new. Well, with the movie adaptation, it took awhile to get things goin. Matthew Lillard was right on potraying Shaggy. I took me a bit to get into everyone elses characters. Blonde hair for Freddie Prinze Jr. Didnt seem so bad on him though I dont reccomend him for a look to go with yet. Sarah Michelle Gellar I can see tried hard not to mirror her Buffy characater. And actress Linda Cardellini's voice sounded a bit odd but she did he best in the role of Velma. And the CGI for Scooby weeeeeellllll, not as how I remebered from the cartoons but the mood and spirit was there. The storyline of Scooby Doo does follow in tradition of the show. The action to me didnt start rollin until they arrived on the island. Thats when "Yeah baby! I do look foward in seeing it again and maaaybe when it hits DVD. BTW, I cant believe a sequel is already in the works.. I do hope Scooby Dum is in it..I did like him...

Summary: Scooby-Dooby-Doo (kind of)...
Review: Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang, one of the most beloved animated groups of all time, has been transformed into a live action movie. The question now is: Is this worth watching?

The answer: Sort of.

It goes without saying that a live-action movie of a beloved cartoon is hardly ever as good as the original. And it is certainly true of this movie. This movie misfires on many different levels and in many different ways, leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth from watching it.

On the other hand, when this movie hits its marks, it is tremendously entertaining and funny to watch. The chase scenes, in which the Mystery, Inc. gang is being chased by the bad guys, are better than the same scenes in the cartoon. It is almost worth sitting through all the gunk to get to these parts.

The best transformation of cartoon into live-action characters comes in the forms of Linda Cardellini as Velma and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. Their takes on these beloved characters were right on the mark, with Mr. Lillard nailing his role of Shaggy right on the head. He knew going into this movie that no matter what else he does in his career, he would always be rememberd as Shaggy. That inspired him to do his best in getting the part right, and there is no question that he succeeded.

Although most fans of the original cartoon gang will be disappointed in this live-action version, I believe that it is still worth seeing. Granted, it's not like the original. But then again.... what is?

Summary: Zoinks! Jinkies, Rooby Roo!
Review: Now a live- action, update on the 1960s, Hanna Barbara long-running cartoon, SCOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU? directed by Raja Gosnell. The costumes are colorful and look exactly the same from the cartoon, the sets are also nifty. Now the cast, I have positive actors and negataive. Matthew Lillard looks great as the creaky-voiced, Shaggy, he has the slumpy walk and the Casey Casem voice to match. Linda Cardellini looks adorable as the spectacled and smart, Velma who wears the orange turtle-neck and always loses her glasses. Now for Fred and Daphne, I'm not so sure about. They have differences from the cartoon characters. The real-life couple, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar portray them. As Shaggy and Scooby usally take ove rthe show, they do the same in the film. Fred acts more self-centered in the film and Daphne is more of a ditz, she wasn't too smart in the cartoon, but she wasn't like Marcia Brady-stupid.

The plot involves the Mystery Inc. gang solving a mystery at Spooky Island, an amusement park for college students on spring break. The owner played by Rowan Atkinson (BEAN) responds to the gang's interrogations and he tells them about some quirky disappearances, brainwashings, and monsters. Well, all of the cartoon cliches are stored tight int his featurette including the unmasking of the villians, Scrappy Doo, and Velma losing her glasses.

The rumors are not true unless you look for them: Velma's homosexuality is false, she si straight and gains a slight attraction to Fred. Shaggy does always look stoned, that explains his hungry appetite for munchies. The animation of Scooby Doo is mediocre, some say he loks like a Scary Doo, but don't judge a film by its rumors and opinions.

Other than the pros that I've stated, some cons are: an adaptation alwyas needs humor. Every adaptation of a comic-book or cartoon like JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS, CASPER, THE FLINTSTONES had it and even THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE. Humor keeps the viewers interested, there is a fart and belch gag that'll have the youngsters laughing their heads off. If the film had a PG-13 rating like it was intended to have, it wouldn't of had the family orinentation that it has now, but it would've had humor for even the adults to enjoy. SCOOBY-DOO is neither good nor bad, but will surely keep its viewers and fans of the cartoon entertained.

Summary: One of 2002's worst mainsream movies this year! save your $$
Review: This movie is loosly based on the late 1960's- 1980's series of Scooby Doo(and it many spin-off's). The cast does not even act like thier animated counter parts. One of the characters take kick boxing. As far I know this character never took kick boxing in the series. Also what's with the farting and toilet bowl humor? It should been rated PG-13 for this toilet bowl humor and farting!
I grew up on the original series and I rather doubt the writers never watched this series. To make matters worse they put in S Scooby's anooying nephew. I will not spoiler the movie for you. but he does make at least 2 appearences in this movie! Yuck!

Save your hard earned money for a better movie or use it and avoid the farting and toilet bowl humor in this movie! Or if you must watch see it at a local dollar movie theater!
