Summary: Check Your Digital Audio Input!
Review: I received my SC-HT425d for christmas, and have only been able to use it once. The optical digital audio input on the receiver (from the DVD player) malfunctioned. I dropped off my receiver at an authorized Panasonic repair center on January 12. They still have it. It turns out that the part that needs to be replaced is not available until MAY! In fact, the Panasonic rep told the repair technician that not many people use the digital audio connection, and there may be MANY defective units out there. There is a fibre-optic connector cable included in the box, try it out and see if your product is defective!

Summary: Great System
Review: I recently purchased this system and it comes with a progressive scan 5 disc dvd, 5 satellite speakers, center speaker and sub-woofer. I like the slim profile of both the dvd and receiver.I found the receiver to have plenty of hook-up options. The only thing I did not like is that I did need to buy s-video hook-ups and a video hook-up cord. The sound on this system is great. You get great surround sound out of what I thought would be to small of speakers. Not the case. This system has a universal remote which makes things easier and overall I am quite happy with this purchase.

Summary: Description Says 5 Disc Changer - - FALSE
Review: If you go to panasonic's website and put in the model number you'll see that this is NOT a 5 disc changer. It's a decoder/dvd player. Panasonic even lists the items which are incorporated and there is no mention that the progressive scan dvd player is a 5 changer. There are only two models with a 5 disc changer listed on panasonic's site and this isn't one of em. Read and Research people!

Summary: Buyer beware
Review: If you purchase this product, I hope you are completely satisfied. It is my opinion that the reliability of Panasonic products has slipped in recent years, and this was confirmed to me when a product I purchased quickly failed. The reason I'm posting this is to warn you that the warranty that accompanies Panasonic products only has value if the company chooses to stand behind it. In my case, they weaseled out of it, leaving me with a total loss and no further recourse. Good luck with your decision.

Summary: Just as described
Review: Well I guess the other reviewer of this item never bothered to "read and research" himself. If you actually read through the panasonic site it will tell you on the scht425d listing that in order to get the full specs on the system you have to look up each individual component. This system comes with the dvd-f85 dvd player and the sa-xr25 receiver. So upon looking at the individual specs, lo and behold you do get a 5 disc changer with the dvd-f85. My other proof positive for this statement is that i ordered this product and it came exactly as described 5 disc changer and everything. After setting it all up I couldn't be happier with the sound quality and outstanding connectivity options that come with the slim sa-xr25 receiver. Another issue I came across while researching this product is the unclear depiction and description on how many speakers come with the system. It seemed like each site had a different number. Well I finally found out after unpacking it. The system comes with 5 satellite speakers 1 center channel speacker and a powered sub. One other thing I found out while shopping is that the scht425d is the number used for the black colored systems and scht425ds is for the silver. With all that being said the actual performance of this package is really great. You get one of panasonics top tier receivers and dvd players and a great speacker package all for about the same price as a HTIB with a single component with limited connectivity and power. I would definetely recommend this product with my only complaint being that no component wires were included instead this package ships with just cheesy composite wires.
