Rating: Summary: Very happy with this player! Review: After several years of playing DVD's on my Playstation 2, I decided to upgrade to a "real" DVD player. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money for a one, so I original bought a Sony NS315. The Sony turned out to be a huge disappointment, so I decided to try the RCA. It was an opened box special at ... and [$$$] more than the Sony, but a much better player in my opinion. Hook up was a snap. There are 3 different input jacks for both audio and video plus a jack to hook up an audio receiver. All my DVD's play with crystal clear clarity. With a touch of a button on the remote control (this player has a "real" remote control unlike the "only good for a paperweight" one that came with the Sony), you can add subtitles, zoom, forward/reverse up to x32, etc. The player has a range feature in which you can soften the loud sounds of those action pack movies, so you don't wake up the neighbors at night. Also this player plays all my CD's, CD-R/RW, and MP3's without problems.

Rating: Summary: RCA Fan Review: I bought a Hitachi 53" widescreen HDTV and decided to buy a progressive scan DVD to get the best possible picture. On the surface this model is the best bang for the buck and looks cool. When it's working the picture is pretty good too. Unfortunately it's progressive scan performance ...[is bad]. Every time a scene comes along with lots of action and/or a high amount of white color the picture gets a horizontal black line through the top quarter of the picture or the top quarter starts to shake or the picture simply shuts down for a few seconds like something overloaded. ...Exchanged it for another one and guess what! Didn't waste my time on a third one. ...Don't waste your time with this RCA unit.

Rating: Summary: Awesome player, very modern look Review: I have an RCA TV and VCR so wanted to keep my DVD player "all in the RCA family" and I love it. I love the MP3 on-screen menu list all your mp3's by name, this is a great feature, the picture quality of the DVD playback is incredible, and the sound through my SONY receiver is surround theater quality, to my downstairs neighbor's horror :). My TV is a little older but all the cables needed were in the box, mine even came with an S-video cable, other players make you buy cables extra. A complaint, which is actually a compliment is that the sound is so theater like that some little backgound noises from the movie are picked up as well, leaving you feeling like your in the premiere of the movie, not too bad for $(...), plus I've seen it for $(...) at other places. The remote is great but, I still prefer to use my Sony universal remote to control all my components(I have a totol of 8 so need to keep the remotes to a minimum). All in all I love this player, the quality is 10 times better than the normal DVD playback plus with 20gb of mp3's I'm set for a couple of years with this baby. Hope this review helps.
Rating: Summary: GREAT LOOKS; QUALITY ???? Review: I OWN THIS RCA DVD PLAYER,I LOVE THE EXCELLENT SILVER DESIGN AND FEATURES OF THE UNIT; HOWEVER I HAD TO EXCHANGE IT THREE TIMES BEFORE I GOT ONE THAT WORKED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THE FIRST ONE I GOT "FREEZE" THE PICTURE WITH ANY DVD I PLAYED. THE SECOND ONE PRODUCED A RED VERTICAL LINE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY HD TV.... FINALLY; THE THIRD ONE I GOT WORKED JUST FINE TILL TODAY. FOR HOW LONG WILL WORK OK ?.. WE'LL SEE....
Rating: Summary: RCA Fan Review: I'm an RCA fan. I have tons of RCA products. This DVD player has some real problems though - the infared eye only works if you point the remote straight at it. If you are at an angle it doesn't work. I exchanged for another and same behavior. Stay away from this unless you want to move around the room to find the right angle to pause your movie.
Rating: Summary: A great all around progressive scan player Review: This player has all the features I am craving. progressive scan for my soon to come hdtv, a 5.1 decoder, optical out, coax out, and a really cool glow on the front panel. I am very happy i can watch my xvcd's of my kids birthday which i made on a cd-r at a high bitrate(2000 video, 160 audio). it plays nicely with no studder or pausing sound. MP3's play nicly with a great mp3 menu system that shows you directorys on the left and files on the right. this unit had digital zoom! you can also fast forward thru your mp3's.
Rating: Summary: Problem with analog sound Review: While the rest of this player seems to work fine, I found a problem when only analog stereo sound was plugged into the TV speakers. DVDs begin playback with no dialogue track. To fix this, you have to go into the player's internal menu system and change the digital out sound setting - even though there isn't any digital sound out connected! It must be an internal bug, but it's annoying as heck to have to go change this setting back and forth every time you put in a DVD.
