Rating: Summary: Great little dvd player that will play ANYTHING it is given! Review: This player is small on price but big on options! When using import dvd's,it will automatically adjust to the NTSC(US & Canada)or PAL(Europe) formats. You can also play region 2 & 3 dvd's by leaving the tray closed (with no disc) & entering: MENU,1,9. A new menu will appear that lets you select any region in the world! VERY COOL option for someone like me who orders from Amazon.co.uk all the time! I will be buying another one to replace my 100.00 lame-o region 1 ONLY Sony player.
Rating: Summary: Just save your receipt! Review: This player was good while it lasted. It stopped working exactly 364 days after it was purchased (it became unable to "read" the disk). I called the customer service number, more to just complain then to actually expect some help, but I got a message that the number had been switched to some directory service costing several dollars per minute! (I hung up of course). I wish I could say that I vowed never to purchase another Cyberhome player, but I just can't resist that price. Unlike other cheap players, this one had component outputs that yielded a beautiful picture quality. It is also very compact and aesthetically pleasing. Once or twice I had to unplug it from the wall when all of the controls became unresponsive (I think this resulted when it was left on for too long). I've noticed that the new model I just bought now automatically goes into standby mode if left inactive for 30 minutes (perhaps this will help extend its service life). Based on my own personal experience, I am able to recommend this player because it is the "real deal" as far as its features are concerned (progressive scan, component/s-video output, multiple format options, etc.). For me at least, its low price offset the disappointment of its short life. I am willing to roll the dice and hope for more luck this time.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Value Review: This unit plays everything! It plays movies and music in oddball overseas formats that other units will sputter over and reject. And it is dirt cheap, too. I have no negative experiences with this model whatsoever. Great tool for the visually impaired. If you have access to a computer Cd burner, use voice sythesizer tech to burn website and Guttenberg files to CD, mp3s and then let your Cyberhome play them through your tv! Blow up your pictures to supersize and see them as a slide show. Even play CDR-RW disk that choke other players. I have had access to a Cyberhome DVD player for well over a year and it has performed better than expected. One thing to remember is that you must not loose the remote control. Cyberhome's website says that they have not released the remote control codes, which means that universal remotes will not work with it. Translation, hold on to your remote if you don't want to pay for a replacement.
Rating: Summary: You get what you pay for!! Review: Yep, just as many of the other reviews state, one year is about all you get with this DVD player. Actually, ours lasted 10 months and died, no power, lights out!
