Rating: Summary: Set country code to 0 Review: First of all thanks to he reviewers here who gave me confidence in buying this product. It arrived very well but after unwrapping it I took out a little photocopied sheet saying: Read this first. Setting of region code. Plus a halfway complicated way how to set it with your remote and some hidden menus. I thought: NO. I dont want to set the code everytime I watch a different DVD. I wanted to buy a codefree player!! For a minute or 2 I was a little upset. Until I got to the hidden menu. And it gives you the nice option to select countrycode 0 (from 1 default for US). And thus makes it a nice code free player. Plus in case you ever come accross one of those rare, evil DVDs that refuse to run in codefree players. Then you can always reset it to any other region. This is a nice, good looking player. Great value. Well yes, Yamakawa did emply a colorblind menu designer while they released this product. So lets hope you will not have to fiddle with the menu a lot. Other than that. All is good.Whodany
Rating: Summary: To "Tom Tom" Review: Have only had this player for a short while, but have been very happy with it. I bought it to play multiple region DVD's and for the higher quality VGA output. I have it hooked directly to my InFocus X1 projector and together they produce a very nice image. "Tom Tom" mentions having to re-input the password each time a new region DVD is inserted, however if you input the password and set the region to zero, it should play discs from all regions without needing to set the region code again.
Rating: Summary: excellent , plays all including movies & pictures on cd-r Review: I bought a silver, but why don't you have this in black also? it is an excellent equipment and plays all all all dvd, discs. great picture.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: I bought the code-free DVD model last year. It works very well for all zone DVDs. It can play almost every types of media e.g. dvd, vcd, mp3, picture cd, karaoke, etc. You have to key in the passwordd when you play different zone DVDs. However, I don't have any problem with that.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I bought this DVD player from yamakawa.com. I tested it once I got it. This player did not work well. The play freez frequently. The remote could not open/close the player. The worst is that when I contacted the seller, I was told that the player has no problems and I have to pay the 15% restocking fee(they even did not see it yet, meaning they will charge you 15% if you return it even the player does not work)! So, my advice, don't waste time and money. If you want a nice code free DVD player, buy the Deawoo from COSTCO.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!!!!! Review: I bought this dvd player to play a whole bunch of dvd's that i have from all types of regions, and it plays them all.
It plays dvd's that not even my laptop dvd player would recognize.
I like the zoom feature, you can zoom in up to 4X and zoom out to 1/4X, and does not change the ratio (won't stretch image) if playing a widescreen version of a movie in a normal 4:3 tv!!!
Very good dvd player for the money, highly recommended!!
Rating: Summary: Not bad at all Review: I had a few problems with this machine at first - the instructions for changing the region are not in the main manual, but on a bit of paper that fell out when unpacking. Still, that's my fault. The only problem with this beasty is the awful user interface. The menus may be the ugliest thing I've ever seen. However, the fact that it does pretty much anything I could want makes up for that. I was only going to give it four stars, but that would be nit-picking somewhat, especially at this price...
Rating: Summary: Good DVD player; one annoying little problem Review: I just got this DVD player in the mail. It plays region 6 (Chinese) DVDs nicely. Unlike a few reviewers, I receieved an instruction manual. Unfortunately, it has one pesky problem: if you accidentally hit one of three buttons on the remote control, the video doesn't appear. The problem wasn't listed in the instruction manual. I was able to figure it out by going to the yamaka direct website (yamakawadirect.com), but only after spending a lot of time with instruction manuals and an hour on the phone with my TV's manufacturers.
It's probably still the best DVD player I could get for the money I spent.
Rating: Summary: It would be nice if it was available... Review: I spent hours doing research on different options to play my international DVDs, and finally settled on this one given that most reviews were promising. The player can (apparently) only be purchased from one company, and after giving them my card info, I got an email from Amazon saying that unfortunately this seller cannot take payments from Amazon at the moment. This was very frustrating and a waste of my time. Why they list companies that cannot work through Amazon is a mystery to me. I recommend you contact Amazon and the seller before attempting to purchase it... the whole experience felt fishy to me.
Rating: Summary: Premium product at acceptable price Review: I'm an international students doing my graduate courseworks in Texas. I have a problem about DVD zoning because most of my favorite movies are from Asia with the different zones with US. I did search many alternatives which are more expensive than this product (i.e Sony with starting price at one hundred something). Buying this product gives me a big surprise! Firstly, the seller is really great. I got the product very fast in all good conditions. The product is easy to set up and keeps what you set up into its memory. So, you don't have to be bothered by the several setup process. Picture and sounds are great for modest users. But for the high-end settings like an expensive home theater or flat screen tv, I have no comments. Thanks to the reviews posted in this website that helps me make my decision to buy easily.
