Summary: "Quest for Camelot"!
Review: "Quest for Camelot" may not be Disney in the way that the animation isn't as good as some of Disney's best, but still, it's one of my favorite kids movie of all time! At a very young age, Kaley (Jessalyn Gilsig) had always wanted to be a knight just like her father. But her father is killed by the evil knight Ruber (Gary Oldman) and she is left alone to live with her mother, Lady Julianna (Jane Seymour). Now a young woman, Kaley finds out that the legendary sword of King Arthur (Pierce Brosnan), Excalibur, has been stolen by Lord Ruber. But fortunately, Ruber's griffin (Bronson Pinchot) had lost the sword in the Forbidden Forest. Lady Julianna is captured by Ruber to be used to get inside Camelot which Ruber is going to seize. It's up to Kaley to find the sword and return it to its rightful owner. With the help of the handsome hermit Garett (Cary Elwes), and the two-headed dragon Cornwall and Devon (Don Rickles and Eric Idle), she must stop Ruber from taking over Camelot. The quest is a magical journey, a fun-filled fantasy. Probably the best parts about this movie is 1) the impressive voice talents, 2) the sensational songs, and 3) the hilarous humor! The remarkable cast includes Cary Elwes (best known as Wesley in "The Princess Bride" and Robin Hood in Mel Brook's "Robin Hood: Men in Tights"), Don Rickles (in my favorite movie, "Kelly's Heroes), Eric Idle (in "80 Days Around the World" and Monty Python), Gary Oldman (best for his bad guy roles in "Air Force One", "The Fifth Element", and "Lost in Space"), Jane Seymor (I just love her in "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and 007's "Live and Let Die), and Pierce Brosnan (from the old tv show detective Remington Steel and of course he's the newest James Bond). The songs are as I said just sensational! My favorite songs are the duet version of the song "Looking Through Your Eyes" (sung by Adrea Corr from the music group, The Corrs and Bryan White), "The Prayer" (sung by Celine Dion), "On My Father's Wings" (also sung by The Corrs), and "If I Didn't Have You". "If I Didn't Have You" is sung hilariously by Don Rickles and Eric Idle. I love the part at the end where they are Elvis Presley. "Quest for Camelot" is also so funny! The best lines are said by the two-headed dragon Cornwall and Devon. Here are a few of my favorites:
Cornwall (to Kaley): My name is Cornwall, but you can call me Corny for short."
Devon: Yes, short on wit, manners, and charm. Cornwall: "Houston, we have a problem." (I'm sure you all recognize that line from Tom Hank's "Apollo 13"!) So if you still haven't seen this movie, I assure you that you're missing out on one of the best kids movie ever! Also, it would be really worth it if you get the "Quest for Camelot" soundtrack. If you've enjoyed this movie, I also recommend another one of my favorite kids film, "The Emperor's New Groove" by Disney.

Summary: A wonderful Fantasy!
Review: This movie has action, adventure, a bit of romance, and lots of humor! The story is about a young girl named Kayley, who's father had been killed protecting King Author from the evil villian named Sir Ruber. The magical sword, Excalibur, had been stolen by a Griffen but is lost because of a silver-winged hawk called Ayden. Kayley goes off into the Forbidden Forest to search for it and she meets Garret who used to be a stable boy but went away to live as a hermit because his eyes were blinded in an horrible accident. He lives alone with Ayden who guides him along the way. As they go off in search for Excalibur,they meet a two-headed dragon(s) who hates 'each other'. Together, they search for the magical sword.
Any fantasy-lover would love this movie. The voice of Garret is Cary Elwes and Kayley's voice is Jessalyn Gilsig. Sir Ruber's voice is Gary Oldman. This story is great for watching together with your family! This is my favorite Disney animation movie.

Review: I chose to buy this DVD depsite some of the poor reviews and I'm glad I did. I'm constantly lending to my coworkers who have all enjoyed it. It's an excellent movie for any kid or kid at heart.

Summary: Not as bad as the critics think
Review: I am in the favor of this movie, probably because I'm a sucker for animated movies. But the blatant point besides being an "animated movie lover," I try NOT to be biased. True, the Warner Bros. children fantasy epic does has some ... of "Beauty and the Beast" and other good movies. As the movie suggests, this is about a tomboyish beauty who ignores her widowed mother's wishes to become a proper lady and sets off to be a knight and "rescue damsels in distress." But she is sidetracked by a would-be-usurper who wants to take King Arthur's Excalibur and rule Camelot, who kidnaps her mother (because the girl's father was killed when protecting Arthur's life) as revenge. The girl meets a two-headed dragon and a blind, hunkish hermit she enlists in thwarting the apparent villain from his devious task. The animation is so-so but is occasionally colorful and dazzling. The vocals are finely done (superb "acting" by Jessalyn Gilsig, Cary Elwes, Gary Oldman, and Pierce Brosnan as King Arthur) and the songs and plot are slight. Despite what the critics have talked about it, it's a well-made animated movie with a few minor flaws. Give this a look.

Review: True that this movie doesn't have the animation of a disney movie but it has a better story than many I have seen and its characters are so diffrent from the usual prince and princess. Kaley is a wide eyed adventurous daughter of a Knight of the round table. She aspires to be a knight even after his untimely death. This is the topic of one of the best songs in the film, and there are many of them. Garret who is given voice by Cary Elwes (Wesley from Princess Bride) is an ex stable boy who, blinded in an accident, hides himself away in the Forbidden Forest where he learns to cope with his lost sense with the help of an extremely well created Silver winged Falcon named Ayden. Together they search for Excaliber and find themselves. With names such as Don Rickles, Eric Idle (Monty Python), Gary Oldman, Jane Seymour (singing voice Celine Dion), Pierce Brosnan, Gabriel Byrne, Bronson Pinchot, Sir John Gielgud, and Jaleel White how could this movie be passed up? Plus Steve Perry's beautiful voice graces the soundtrack! I assure you, if you love fantasy and Camelot, you will enjoy this picture.

Summary: 5 stars for a 5 year old, and pleasing for adults
Review: If you are the parent of a young child who trys to see the world as they do (or you would like them to), then you will appreciate this movie. It is certainly not the caliber of Shrek with as many levels of appeal. However, it is fun and displays good core values like a girl being curious, adventurous and mostly able to defend herself. Granted she swoons a bit first and she eventually does need help, but they help each other out of tight spots so what's wrong with that? Also, she swoons for a less than perfect guy who is blind (who is ultimately successful achieving his dream while blind), and the bad guy is someone who wasn't happy sharing. It has funny dragons and swords and I think any young kid would like it - though I would be wary for kids younger than 5 because of the possibility/liklihood of some parts being too scary. My 5 1/2 year old son loves it and we approve, so I am buying it to add to the collection.

Summary: As Bad As The New Land Before Times
Review: This movie is seriously one of the worst toons I have ever seen. I find the humor very dry, in fact I didn't laugh once. The animation wasn't as great as it could have been either. I did not like one song during the entire movie except for maybe when the badguys invade the protagonist's home. It had one of the worst toon romances as well. There was just absolutely nothing appealing about this movie at all. It goes up as one of the worst toon movies ever next to land before time 6-8 or whatever number they are at now.

Summary: Moronic Dreck
Review: This has to be one of the worse attempts to tell what should be one of the truly beautiful legends from English "mythology". It is a cutesy, politically correct, 'let's all join hands and sing pop songs while we fight against the (very two-dimensional) villians'. This is while nothing of the might vs. right concept is imparted... Sheesh. Disney's "The Sword in the Stone", based on T.H. White's novel, "The Once and Future King" is a far better choice for your dollars. Better yet, buy White's book for your children and read it to them, or read it together. Far more enlightening and entertaining than this garbage.

Summary: Painfully Bad
Review: With the impressive cast & my love for the Arthurian legend, I was very optimistic to see this DVD. It was, however, one of the worst movies I've seen. What little story there was was mutilated by the multitude of songs. The script was painfully bad -- Camelot meets the "transformers" -- with an over-the-top evil villain that reminded me of a red-haired Riff Raff a la Rocky Horror. Only Eric Idle, as one head of the two-headed dragon, was funny. The best part of the DVD was the "making of" featurette, showing the incredible voice talent: Gabriel Byrne, Jane Seymour, Cary Elwes, Gary Oldman, Eric Idle, Pierce Brosnan, and Bronson Pinchot. I was also impressed by the beatutiful singing voices of Celine Dion, Andrea Corr, and Steve Perry. I can't imagine why so many talented performers got involved with such a dumb project. Don't waste your money on this version of Camelot.

Summary: Don't waste your money...
Review: The main problem with this film is there's just way too many songs- and NONE are enjoyable.
With the focus of the movie being music, there really wasn't much done with the actual story. The plot is great- a young girl who wants to become a knight like her father (who was killed) goes on a quest to find the legendary sword, Excalibur, which was stolen and lost in the forest. They could have done so much with this plot if they only left out all the music! Reading the description on the back of the box is much more enjoyable than actually watching how they ruined what could've been a really good film.
