Summary: Must-See Movie!
Review: I love this movie and have recommended it many times. It is a moving reminder of God's power. My two pre-school aged children also enjoy it, and I don't find it inappropriate for them.

Summary: Extremely overrated
Review: "Prince of Egypt" is called by some as a changing milestone in American animation. I cannot see it any more as a confused mess with nothing but more of the same.First off, there's the attempt to create Ramses as more than a one-dimensional villain. I agree with one reviewer here that it was a good idea, but in the end they perhaps tried too hard. When Moses comes back and Ramses suddenly becomes a hardcore villain, its almost like his character has done a complete 180. Its not too believable. There's also the songs. Oh my god...how I hated the songs. There were perhaps one or two good ones, but the rest were...ugh. They sound like the writers were saying, "Oh! We're making an animated film! Well...you CAN'T make an ANIMATED film with out adding SONGS in there!" It didn't matter to them if the songs slowed down the pacing or the singers didn't sound like the characters they were supposed to be (Steve Martin and Martin Short's characters especially), but they're added in any way. At last, of course, is the attempt to make the story of Exodus "nice." As usual, Moses killing the Egyptian is an accident. Read the Bible: Moses did it on purpose. God is a nice loving blue orb with a sweet, gentle voice. However the film later on, with the tenth plague, shows God killing only children. Apparently all the first born in Egypt were under the age of 5. In "The Ten Commandments" they showed first born of all ages dying, making it far more realistic...and making it look better for God. Honestly, did the writers think that we would side with a God that indiscriminantly kills children? Accuracy comes into play here too. When the Hebrew people are leaving Egypt, two Egyptian soldiers drop weapons and join them. Huh?! Isn't that like having an SS character in "Schindler's List" being Jewish? Who the hell came up with that? And also, when the Hebrew people walk through the parted Red Sea, we see the image of a whale against the water. I hate to burst your bubble, but the part of the Red Sea in the Bible (also known as the "Sea of Reeds") is not connected to the ocean, and last I heard there were no whales living in it. This film has so many more flaws in it I could write a book, but I'm limited on size and I've already said so much. Read my words: this movie is overrated. Do not watch it.

Review: This movie is perfect in every way! The Prince of Egypt is suitable for children and adults of ALL ages. The great soundtrack, plot and animation is what makes this film totally unforgettable.

Summary: I love this movie...
Review: I took my three sons and my neice to see this movie on Christmas morning. They loved it! For once they paid attention to the entire movie. I thought it was brilliant,and I still enjoy watching it at home, I would love to see it again on a big screen. Two complaints. 1. Though I admire the voice chracterizations of Ralph Finnes, Val Kilmer, Patrick Stewart, Could they not find any other actors of color to do the voice characterizations? Danny Glover was the only one. Why not Angela Basset or Halle Berry? James Early Jones, Chi McPherson. There were a host of actors to make a more "diverse" cast. Well it took all these years to finally get the color right. Perhaps next time the voices will match also. 2. I hated the Carey/Houston version of "When You Believe". The song is so-so to begin with. Then add two divas fighting to be heard, and it ruins the song.

Summary: Very Savage
Review: Of course, the problem addressed in my review's title is not really the fault of this film's creators. It is, in fact, the fault of the original scripture this was based on. But the film's message remains corrupt nonetheless. The supposedly loving Jenovah murders innocent Egyptian children just because of their Pharaoh's sins, when He could simply have convinced Pharaoh to free Moses' people (being omnipotent and all), yet we are supposed to worship him. Do we really need our children finding salvation with a murderous villain the likes of Jenovah? It's just like saying that Iraqi children should idolize Saddam Hussein. Those of you who say this film is good for moralizing are obviously not paying attention to some of the details here. However, that is not to say this movie has no redeeming features. Unlike other adaptations of the Exodus myth, there is an attempt to portray the antagonist Rameses as being something more than a one-dimensional villain, but it doesn't amount to much.

Summary: A Dreamworks Masterpiece!
Review: The Prince of Egypt is a wonderfully rich and sumptuous animation that I find moving and uplifting. In fact, it's nothing short of a masterpiece. It tells the story of Moses, and how he led the Israelites out of Egypt. However, unlike the Ten Commandments (with Charlton Heston), this animation explores the close relationship between Moses and Rameses. The footage here is fascinating. The musical score is magnificent, and it mirrors and highs and lows of Moses' life - life in the royal palace in the lap of luxury; his confusion when he discovers his Hebrew origins; his anguish of being the reluctant foe of Rameses, and the awesome finale. It's all here. I especially love the film version of "When You Believe" - the part when the kids sing in Hebrew is magical. I don't speak Hebrew, but it's sung with such innocence and conviction that it moves me anyway.
There are times that I forget it's an animation, such is the splendour of the artistry. I have no hesitation in recommending this movie.

Summary: LOVE this movie!
Review: I took my 8 year-old son to see this movie in the theater. I wouldn't have a child much younger see it unless he/she is very mature for their age. I was impressed with the animation, music and the portrayal of the story. I usual enjoy Disney movies, but I tire of the lame humor of the characters meant to keep the interest of the younger children. There is always someone getting a pie in the face or something to that effect. Apparently, Katzenberg felt the same way because this movie doesn't stoop to that level. My son is older now and when we watch the tape, he enjoys it even more.

Review: Well... I don't have much to say about this movie... just that I'm a 20-year guy and i'm NOT Christian or everything else realted... I'd say that I don't even go to the Church or something like that... BUT, I've seen this movie and I was totally touched and blown away... beautiful animation, beautiful music... everything... Get it now.

Summary: One of the best animated wonders of the 90's.
Review: This is the story about the life of Moses, how he was rescued by a Egyptian queen and became a prince of Egypt to the day he lead his people " the Hebrews" out of Egypt. This movie has it all to make it a very entertaining and inspiring animated movie with beautifully drawn animation, breathttaking atsmophere with CGI effects that makes this movie a wonder to behold and a triumph in animated movies. The DVD itself is phenomenl and loaded with extras, the picture is excellent with it's sound too.

Summary: I was so amazed!
Review: I watched this for the first time babysitting my niece and nephew. I had never had a particular desire to see it, as I am not tha religious. I was amzed at how beutiful the animation was and how wonderful the songs were! I plan to buy this soon for myself as much as for my children.
