Summary: Compassion's The Thing
Review: "Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie" is a grand little film. I had always been aware of the Veggies, but being the almost thirty man that I am, I never paid much attention to them. With this film, I've been shown the err of my ways. My three year-old daughter handpicked this film for us to watch, and I'm completely hooked now.

"Jonah" is a hilarious tale that is perfect for every member of the family. It retells the Biblical story of Jonah and how he and the people of Nineveh are given a second chance by God. It also teaches viewers the same thing with the interaction between the Veggie characters.

The animation is wonderful in this film. The story moves along at a brisk pace and is loaded with humor for both young and old. The songs are brilliant and somewhat addictive. The opening sing-along is very, very addictive.

Extras on this two-disc set include a making of feature, "Jonah and the Bible," a tour of Big Idea studios, and music videos featuring Chris Rice and Christian rock heavyweights, Newsboys. There's also trivia, bios, karaoke, and a ton of other things to keep the whole family busy.

Non-Christians may have a problem with this movie and its message of compassion through God. If that's the only thing keeping you from buying this movie, shame on you. There is so much here for children to learn, and it is presented in a wonderful, colorful adventure.

Highly recommended.

Summary: Support Good Idea Ministries!!!
Review: I really like veggie tales and i really enjoyed this movie. it has good clean fun with a faith based point of view that most children's marketing seems to lack. I will give the criticism, however, that exposing children only to veggie tales and not to the bible can be detrimental in the long run. Hopefully as they grow older though they will be able to find more depth in the stories offered in the bible.

I grew up in the 80s with Psalty the singing song book which is the only thing that i think can be comparable in quality and entertainment in terms of Christian children's entertainment. Unfortunately those audio tapes are out of print!! While Veggie Tales aren't as good as Psalty, they are the next best thing!

The other thing is that I read in Christianity Today that one of the sub-corporations of Disney set Big Idea Ministries back finanically. In the making of this movie since they did not meet ridiculous deadlines Big Idea was forced to pay a heafty fine to Disney, in the process they had to file for bankruptcy and lay off the majority of their staff! So I went out and purchased the Jonah movie at my local Christian Bookstore, which i rarely shop at because of my personal theology, just to support their ministries!! I would encourage everyone to do the same!!

Summary: One of the Best Annimated Films Out There
Review: This was movie was so good. The animation is beautiful, the storyline that they use is accurate to the book of the prophet Jonah in the Bible, and it's funny the entire time. My brothers and sisters (all eight of them) will just sit in front of the T.V. watching until the movie is done.

This DVD also includes on the second disk a lot of things for the whole family. Also look for the easter eggs in each menu(press sideways on the direction button on the remote on items, you won't be sorry).

This is just a great movie that teaches good values.

Summary: Best Veggie Tale movie of all
Review: This is a great movie! Not only does my 2 year old daughter watch this, but her Dad and I walk around the house singing the songs too! It is very cute and such a good message to be heard!

Summary: Y ou Have to get this Video!
Review: Boy is this cute! What a great way to show the story of Jonah to your kids. It's neat how the pirates explain at the end of the movie how Jonah really didn't understand God's compassion for the people of Nineveh, the fish slappers! Boy, how funny - fish slappers! It's pretty funny seeing the Ninevites going around slapping each other with fish. The imagination of these guys just is something else. Wonder how old they REALLY are?! But, the song "Second Chances" is worth the price of the video alone. The gospel group Anointed sings it and by golly are they talented! I'd never heard them before but wow, what a great song! Feels like church! My three-year-old just looked at me and said, "Mommy, that's a great song!" So yes, we dance to that song hands down. The only thing is that it may not hold the attention of the younger toddlers since it is a movie and things have to be explained more. i.e. what is Nineveh, why is Jonah going there, etc. But it definitely is worth every penny you spend on this video. I am just so very glad that we got it. Archibald Asparagus is awesome as Jonah and his camel Reginald has a looking glass just like Archibald. Very, very imaginative, entertaining and fun. Thanks Big Idea!

Summary: Jonah Scores
Review: You just can't get any funnier than the Veggie Tales movies! Wholesome viewing with zany, well written scripts that pretty much stick to the Biblical stories which inspired the movies. Jonah is not a disappointment. The Jonah character is haughty, snobby, and very much human as he struggles to submit to orders from God that he finds totally unacceptable. He ultimately hooks up with a group of Pirates who give sailing the high seas hilarious new meaning! These guys are lucky to get the boat out of harbor. Carlisle, Jonah's pushy traveling buddy, is a hoot and proves that friendship can be a powerful thing. An angelic choir visiting Jonah in the belly of the whale gives the movie an energetic, soulful uplift. The writers who create the Veggie Tales movies are so good at tongue in cheek humor - listen close and you'll find some sly humor that will make adults chuckle. Great movie!!!
