Summary: Sweet, innocent, simple, captivating - A Great Learning Tool
Review: I started out by buying Richard Scarry's counting DVD. I loved it so much, I bought all the rest (minus the nursery rhymes DVD). My 2-year-old son really enjoys watching the movie, as does my 6-month-old daughter. I personally enjoy the DVD and its innocence. I like that it is simple yet captivating for them. It really holds their attention. I tend to be pretty particular when it comes to movies for my children, making sure they don't teach any bad habits and that it doesn't teach anything contrary to the Bible. I was very pleased to see there wasn't any reference to magic, fairies, etc, as many things tend to include such references these days. The DVD gave more than one example for each letter (F is for Firetruck, etc), and I was so glad to see that all of them were positive examples. What a great learning tool!

Summary: Definitely A Must
Review: I'm a first time mom of a 15 month old but am also a child neurologist. This really is a wonderful way to occupy a young child's mind, while filling it with information that is worth learning. I was a little skeptical on buying the video, but I have to agree with others that it can really keep a young mind fascinated. My son smiles, nods his head and looks to me as if to say "this IS really neat", and claps his hands at all the right times. I like the counting and ABC videos as well, although this is really the best of the three. The characters have voices that are sweet and not grating, and I really don't mind watching this every day, a few times a day. I think the quality is just fine; not everything has to be 21st century graphics to be entertaining.

Summary: Refreshing new songs and great learning concepts
Review: I'm a huge fan of the Richard Scarry DVDs and videos, and this one is certainly amongst my favourites. It is delightful to learn and sing some new songs with my 15 month all that can teach her about opposites, the alphabet, counting and shapes. The tunes are catchy, the music is appealing and the lyrics are well sung. Very sweet and simple, perfect for toddlers! I don't see myself getting sick of this video any time soon, whereas if I hear "Wheels on the Bus" and "Old McDonald" one more time....

Summary: If you want your toddllers to retain what you've tought them
Review: If you want your toddler to retain what you've taught them this is a geart reinforcer along with being a learning tool. I love it. It is very easy for youngsters to forget, and this tape is a fun way of keeping the numbers, abc's, and shapes interesting, and it's easy to remember the fun songs. I have 4 of Richard's vedios and plan to get tape #5. My 2yr old is incrediablel bright I teach him through reading to him and use the tapes as a reinforcer and they keep him form watching all the monsters and volience in all the other so called childern's TV programs.

Summary: calm, comforting yet entertaining for pre-schoolers
Review: In an era of increasingly "in-your-face" hyperactive productions for children, it's refreshing to see a video that teaches, entertains, and doesn't use the editing style of a "Mountain Dew" commercial. PBS could learn a few things from this (to say nothing of the other networks), but that's a different story. :-)

Summary: Oh, where was this video when I was a kid?
Review: My 3-year-old daughter watches this video as often as 3 times a day! She's had it since she was 2 and hasn't tired of it yet; *nothing* else has captured and retained her attention the way it has. She's learned a lot from it, including some phonics, same & different, and those hard-to-teach prepositions. The songs aren't as nauseatingly cutesy as the usual kids' videos; they're actually kind of catchy...we even sing them in the car :)Richard Scarry has done an *excellent* job of combining learning and fun, and even made it interactive with "find the shape" and "which one is different" games. I wouldn't be without it!

Summary: A wonderful engaging video for toddlers
Review: My daughter began watching this video at 12 months and now at 18 months she is singing along with the songs and trying out her head/shoulders/knees and toes routine. She is totally engaged during the full 30 minutes. It is a wonderful learning video, I highly recommend it.
