Summary: Dry Eyed?
Review: If you can keep a dry eye on your face or in your heart during the duration of this movie I would be quite surprised. With a great story line and the splendid animation of the wonderful Disney animators this is truly one of my favorite Disney movies next to the Lion King. With a great song "Your the Best of Friends" Yeah I cry pretty each time I watch this movie. But as in all Disney Movies everyone lives happily ever after!

Summary: Go Read the Book
Review: the truth is, Diseny took a title and a few names from the original book and tore out the rest of the story to make a cute and cudley tale. The book may not be the best book in the world, but it is so real and makes a reader so aware of what humans do to animals. Don't watch this again until you found Dan Mannix's book The Fox and The Hound. Then go read Adventure Happy by his wife Jule Mannix 9 (if you can find a used copy)

Summary: Wrong message sent to our kids with this one!
Review: The more I watched the more I was outraged! All I was hearing was how the kind and caring old woman next door to this angry old man was made out to be a "muddle headed female" said through out the movie and how it's okay to break the law and any cost. One example is how this old man is firing his shot gun at this kind old woman in hope to hit her fox for something he never did, after that he goes to a wildlife game preserve and sets traps for this poor fox and sets fires and tries to kill whatever gets in his way. When he finally is injured and tired of fighting and has to admit this fox actually saved his life (he should have been eaten by the bear!) He then goes home and the kind old woman has to nurse his wounds wail taking verbal abuse from him. "Remember only you can prevent forest fires"!

Summary: IT AIN'T THE JUNGLE BOOK
Review: The title sums it up. It doesn't have the great animation of Pinocchio or the songs and story of Beauty and the Beast. One of the few Front Line Disney features that my 5 children don't ever want to watch.

Summary: This movie has the power to make the strongest of us cry!!
Review: You can have your ''Mulan's'',Your ''Toy Story's'' and your ''Emperors New Groove'' but this [In my opinion] is the best ever made Disney movie [along with the lady and the tramp!]

The story begins with a Vixen fox running away [from a hunter] to save her young fox cub.She dumps him in a long bush, says her last goodbye and runs off, later being tragically shot by the hunter. The little fox cub Tod is taken in by an old widow [with the help of Big Mama the owl!!!].He forms an unlikely friendship with the hound puppy Copper. But their friendship is put to the test when Copper is taken on a hunting trip with his master and his mentor, the cynical old dog Chief. During that winter, Tod grows into a full fledged adult fox. After the winter, Copper returns [also grown into a large adult dog] with his master and chief. They find out they can no longer be friends after certain accidents involving Tod and Coppers master.Feeling she can no longer look after Tod, the old widow releases him into a wildlife reserve.

THIS IS THE PART WHERE I BEGIN TO CRY!!

After his sadness, Tod makes friends with a female fox named Trixy and they begin to love each other. But their happiness is ruined when Copper and his master scout to seek and destroy Tod.

NOW I BEGING TO GASP!!!

Now there is a full fledged fight involving Tod, Copper and a large, ferocious bear!!!!

To tell you the ending would be a crime so I strongly urge you to rent or even better...BUY this wonderful disney masterpiece!!!!!I would rate this disney movie 10 out of 10!!!This is what disney films used to be made of!!!!!

Summary: actually, it's a terrible film.
Review: When this movie came out, I saw it immediately. I hoped it would be like the Disney films that they rereleased every 7 (or so) years when I was a kid - the older Disney films that everyone talks about.

Boy, was I wrong.

The film tries to be a "message" film: friendship is good, people aren't born being enemies, and so on. Unfortunately, they forgot to have the important things - plot and good animation. (In one scene with a waterfall, you wonder if they decided to do it "on the cheap".)

I stopped seeing Disney films for a decade. It took "Beauty and the Beast" to get me back to the theater for one, and after that I went back and saw "The Little Mermaid" also.

I would see this other two films ("Beauty/Beast" and "Little Mermaid") any opportunity I could. However, this "Fox and the Hound" is a dog.

Summary: Excellent, and very sad statement on friendship.
Review: The reality of friendship is a tough thing for kids to understand until they've lost friends and look back on life.

This movie portrays a 'soul-mate' type friendship, broken up by external issues, and then the sad re-meeting.

When the two friends band together against a common foe, that's an illustration of true friendship. When they do not return to their 'true friend' status afterwards, it's a sad statement of the harsh reality of friendships and for that matter, truth, trust, etc... terribly fragile objects, all, and once destroyed, not the same vessels of invincibility they once seemed.

Very good movie. Worth owning. Watch it with the kids, though.

Summary: Cute, but slightly depressing...
Review: For those of you who haven't seen The Fox and the Hound yet, go see it. Now. It has always been one of my favorites, but when I watch it now that I'm older, I realize just how sad it really is. {spoilers} Two best friends forced apart by reality, only to be brought together again later... as enemies. Of course, Copper (the hound) remembers Tod (the fox), but that's about that. They don't become best friends again. They go their seperate ways. Sad indeed, but definetly worth seeing.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Heartwarming, value renewing film.
Review: The Fox and the Hound, though far from being the best Disney animated film, is well worth a look. It is the tale of two childhood friends who struggle to keep their friendship alive in the face of adversity and prejudice. This may seem like heavy fare for the younger set, but it's actually perfect for the whole family to watch. It reaffirms the virtue of a loyal friendship, and that is something we should value... especially today!
