Review: First of all I love Disney movies, as and adult, and can understand the hidden moral stories in them. This movie is about friendship for the adults who watch this. However, I watched this with my two young sons. After watching this movie, my sons turned every toy they touched into a shotgun. In this movie the human characters point guns at other humans, mistreat the animals, and use degrading language. My husband is a hunter and we have always taught our children that a gun is not a toy and that you NEVER point it at a person. This movie just destroyed all that teaching. I also am disappointed with some of the language used in this movie. There is no swearing in the movie, but there is a lot of language you don't want your young children using.
As a mother of two young boys, I will not be showing anymore Disney movies for a long time.

Summary: One of the Best...
Review: The Fox and the Hound is by far one of the best Disney films not produced under Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney. While Copper and Todd have little personality, the plot line and minor character roles make up for it.
So, if you want a quality Disney video on friendship don't get cheezy Eisner vidoes like BROTHER BEAR, instead get THE FOX AND THE HOUND.

Summary: The best ever disney movie!
Review: Where do I start?! My ALL TIME favourite disney film. I love it so so much. An adorable little fox called Tod gets left by his Mum who is killed by hunters, he gets found and taken to an old woman called Widow Tweed. At the same time, Amos, a nasty evil hunter buys a hound puppy called Copper. The two are very adventurous so end up walking off, they bump into eachother and become "The best of friends". They really are the cutest cartoon baby animals I have ever seen before. Copper gets taken away for a long time on a hunting expedition, when he gets back they are older and more mature, Copper has realised it is impossible for them to be friends. Amos' other dog Chief is determined to kill Tod after he comes on their land, and comes close. Widow Tweed has to leave Tod as it is becoming to dangerous for him, he is very upset, but then finds his soul mate, Vixey. Definately one to watch! I'd recomend it to anyone! Some very sad scenes which make me cry every time, but who wouldnt at such a wonderful film. The perfect mixture of humour and sadness = the perfect disney film!

Summary: Best Disney Movie Ever
Review: The Fox and The Hound is one of Disney's most effortlessly enjoyable films. Rather than try to assemble, as Disney has more recently, a blockbuster slate of artists, actors, songwriters and lyricists, in this film the studio chose sweet simplicity to tell what is ultimately a touching, bittersweet coming-of-age story. While Fox's animation is rudimentary by today's standards, the movie doesn't suffer for it; the film's lack of polish almost lends it legitimacy. This is obviously a movie meant for children, and the lack of revue-style dance numbers and grammy-winning top 40 songs, while generally clever and catchy in later movies like The Lion King, give to the film a childlike innocence that makes it particularly endearing. Call it a personal bias for having grown up loving this movie and watching it with my family countless times, but I'd say unequivocally that this is one Disney movie worth treasuring.

Summary: Cute, good, and SAD at the same time. All ages movie
Review: This movie is very sad. The two were best friends, until copper,the hound left home to go on a hunting trip. By the time he came back, Tod, the fox, and copper were grown. Tod went to see copper the night he came back. Chief, the other hunting dog that would hunt any fox, woke and chaced Tod onto a railroad track. Tod ducked and fit through, but Chief didn't make it, and he fell off the side of the high up track. Copper was very fond of Chief. He was VERY mad at Tod and wanted to KILL him.
I dont want to say anything else, it will ruin the movie.

Review: Since the end of Walt Disney's career after he passed away, Disney itself has been going downhill on so many levels. For one, their movies have gotten worse and very depressing (this movie is an example) Two, the animation is nothing near as good as that of Hayao Miyazaki (creator of "Spirited Away" & "Castle In The Sky"). The musical scores have also gotten boring and stupid than what they used to be in the many oldskool Disney films. Finally, in most modern-day Disney movie/cartoon there is basically no plot of point whatsoever! 'Fox And The Hound' has all of these things from a dull and blurry animation, bad songs, no plot and an overall depressing outlook. They could've at least ended it better too where the two animals become friends again, but no! It's all too sad for children to watch. If you're looking for a good Disney movie, stick with either "Winnie-The-Pooh" (not the new ones cause they're also poor) and/or "Beauty & The Beast". Just please save your money and avoid this tragic failure at all costs!

Summary: My names Copper, I'm a Hounddog!
Review: Ranked lower by most of the family, TFATH comes in at #11 of the 50 movies were are ranking because it is my 25 year sons favorite Disney movie. It also gets 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because, even though most placed it in the bottom of their second 10, everyone liked it and it was watched often by all 5 children. This is the story of two natural enemies' that become friends as pups, but are forced into a potentially fatal confrontation when they grow up.

The end of the movie is a vicious battle and was somewhat scary for the kids when they were little. Be sure to be nearby for cuddling for the first viewing.

We had a lot of fun by gathering the family together to rank the 50 Disney movies we have that include some cartoon work. All the kids, ages 6 to 27, participated along with mother and dad. Peter Pan is no Codfish, we rank it #2. Lion King was selected number 1 of the 41 as the family favorite, but narrowly. Peter Pan was 2. Pete's Dragon 3, Beauty & the beast 4, Sleeping Beauty 5, Snow White 6, Robin Hood 7 and 101 Dalmatians 8.

The DVD we have has poor coloring with a Washed-Out appearance. This DVD also didn't come in Wide Screen, another disappointment. If you already have the VHS don't bother upgrading to DVD unless they reissue and enhance.

Summary: Utterly charming and underrated
Review: The Fox and the Hound was probably somewhat of a crossroads for Disney studios. The last of the old animators left with this underrated gem. It doesn't need to bombast young viewers with unnecessary action or dumbed down pseudo-epic storylines to attract attention. It's simply the story of a friendship that manages to transcend nature's dictations and any trials thrown at it.

This is a tale told with such heartfelt sincerity that it moves and touches viewers with its story alone; no need for semi-Broadway moments every ten minutes or cheap, carefully masked lewd humor sprinkled in for potential bored adults. The characters are endearing and artlessly likeable, and the lessons learned are timeless.

There are engagingly subtle touches that augment the main story, such as the ongoing battle between two determined birds (one with a curiously Brooklyn accent) and one very lucky caterpillar. The conclusion to this humorous yet strangely realistic chase is a startlingly touching revelation in beauty. This is Disney at its best: a simple and touching movie that doesn't need anything else to make itself an enjoyable experience for everyone. Even the greats of the 90s seem a little cheap after this.

I first watched this as a little kid, and have been in love with it ever since. Right now, in that nebulous span of years between being able to drive and being able to drink, I'm probably entitled to bouts of rebelliousness and scorn for movies like this. But this is one Disney creation I'm proud to say that I love, something you plan to pass on to your children and grandchildren: a classic.

Review: Wow! That's one of the many words you can use to describe this movie. This story will touch your heart and keep you in your seat from beginning to end. Never will there be another movie like it.
