Summary: Bliss
Review: Maybe it's the fate of Disney that even with the 2000 version the Fantasia is not appreciated by all on the 1st viewing. But don't let the bad reviews scare you. It's another colourful escapade from the magical studios, strictly for the ones who resist "growing-up". 7 new fairy tales range between extreme temperatures, from ice cold whales to lava that melts. Actually, they are like rare, small candies that you snatch and eat secretly. If you want to shut all earth and seek comfort in dreams, then this might be the most suitable exit for you. The final piece, Firebird Suite, is beyond words. Bravo!

Summary: Fantasia 2000
Review: There are three segments in this feature that are simply magnificent. "The Pines of Rome" at the start, "Firebird" at the end, and a flamingo with a yo-yo in the middle make this a must-own DVD. Mickey reprises "The Sorceror's Apprentice" as well. The Gershwin is all right, but "Pomp and Circumstance" is very pedestrian; inspite this, Fastasia 2000 is a visual treat set to wonderful music- any age can appreciate it.

Summary: A movie for people who like music...
Review: Fantasia 2000, is funny and the music is really nice generally. I think people who like music will like this movie. Even people who don't actually like music or really don't like music may still like this movie because of its funny pictures and actions. The part that is a bit boring for me though, is the whales dancing, but my favourite part is the busy city of N.Y. (New York) and Noah's Ark, where Donald Duck has to lead the animals to the ark, and loses Daisy but finally finds her in the same ark. The music forms 'pictures' in my mind. Other scenes are funny too, but I can't tell you the other parts- you'll have to watch this movie yourself!

Summary: Not the best Disney movie, but still entertaining.
Review: This sequel to the classic Fantasia is entertaining but lacks the magic of the first. Just as in it's predecessor, Fantasia 2000 is a film divided into several musical numbers each with an animated story. Each piece, however, is introduced by celebreties as James Earl Jones, Bette Midler, Steve Martin, and the grand dame of the Broadway stage: Ms. Angela Landsbury. The musical numbers are some of the most famous classical pieces such as "Rapsody in Blue".One of my favorite pieces is Donald Duck helping Noah bring the animals into the ark right before the flood. The movie is entertaining but it lacks the magic of the first Fantasia. It's difficult to top something as original and innovative as the first Fantasia and although it has some interesting moments, as well as the entire "Mickey and the Sorcerer" from the first film, it just doesn't stand on it's own. Still a great film for kids to watch if only they didn't ask a million questions and just watched instead.

Summary: Fantastic Fantasia
Review: I'll be honest - when I went to see this in the theater, I thought it was going to have ALL the original pieces in with the new. Sadly, it did not, but I was still pleased with the pieces that are in it, and that are on this disc. The two melody shorts on the disc are just the kind of old Disney cartoons that I love. And i think my favorite piece in the new Fantasia is probably their telling of "The Steadfast Tin Soldier." I've always loved that story, and they do a great job.

Summary: A diverse showcase for some fine animation
Review: This hangs together well as a series of linked cartoons based on the theme of music. Even after over one hundred years of making films, we still find that the simplest ways of telling stories are the best . These could be looked at as our modern equivalent of silent movies. They speak a universal language as intelligible to deaf people as to hearing, to children as much as to adults, and to Chinamen just as much as to Englishmen. The flow is interrupted somewhat by the evening-dressed stars explaining everything to us, and these could have been cut down or even eliminated without departing too much from the original Fantasia concept. The films are masterpieces of the animators' art, showing us traditional animation, computer animation that looks like traditional animation (Firebird Suite), computer animation that looks real (The Pines Of Rome), and computer animation that looks like computer animation(Shostakovich's Piano Concerto 2). For me, the best segment here was Rhapsody In Blue, based around the New Yorker cartoons. This stylistic masterpiece is very easy to watch and very funny as well as being well drawn. The music is adapted so well you wouldn't notice any changes unless you knew it intimately. I would say that the best reason to watch this film is for the pictures rather than the music. If you want the music, you would be better off buying the whole C.D. or record of the piece concerned as you only hear short excerpts from most of them. Having said that, the music is treated with respect, James Levine's arrangements suit their purpose admirably.

Review: This movie is a real big production. But i am not satisfied much. I wish i see the classical and cute chracters of walt disney more. But the dances and visual attractions are great. Buy it to make your collection richer.

Review: This is even better than the first, and if you don't believe me, check it out yourself! A much more colorful, interesting, funnier one. It's different and amusing too. There's even some music that adults (and kids) will recognize! Beautiful, colorful scenes that make the movie come alive and go perfectly with the music. Get it while you can!

Summary: An integrated work of art.
Review: First the bad news: the introducers such as Steve Martin are annoying and add little to the movie. But the good is very good. And all the segments are connected to each other and form a integrated work of art -- not just visually, but in terms of ideas. And make no mistake, it is a wonderful piece of art. They arranged some of the music into shorter-than-composed bits? Hey, symphonies do that all the time. The important thing here is the synergy between the sound and the image. If you can't see what's going on, try watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers first. That will spur some ideas. Fantasia 2000 is a perfect example of Disney's best work. It's appropriately rated G, but is filled with so many ideas that people of all ages and backgrounds may enjoy it in many different ways. Better than the first? No but just as good in its own way.

Summary: Wondrous Fantasy Of Images And Sound
Review: This is a combination of wondrous animation and stupendous orchestral music. It's great fantasy of images and sound encourages interest in the arts and creativity. There is lots of room to explore one's imagination in interpreting the story. It is respectful of race, gender and culture. Our kids were mesmerized. They loved the graphics and commented: "This was really cool." "The Firebird Suite was really bright and the music fit really well." "I loved the whale segment. I thought they were flying, then swimming. I guess you were supposed to think both." Best for ages 5 to 8.
