Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: This movie is the bomb! I remember watching it back in elementary school '80s stylee. If you've seen Boogie Nights and remember when Whalberg was singing "You've got the Touch", that song was rocked out in this movie.Also, I will admit, I cried when Optimus Prime bit the big one.

Summary: Alert alert! Not compatible with Mac!
Review: This DVD disc was not recognized on my Apple PowerBook G3 Firewire. The DVD drive tried to spin the disc up but gave up after a few seconds. There's no DVD icon on the desktop. I tried on both OS 9 and OS X, and "df -k" on OS X did not show a mounted volume in the DVD drive.
Since the TF Season 1 Collector's Edition DVD discs play fine on the same laptop, it's got to be the TFTM DVD disc that's mastered non-Macintosh compatible. Major disappointment, since I own the Canadian VHS version of TFTM (containg that four-letter word) and was really looking forward to owning the uncensored edition on DVD.

Summary: Definitely one of the biggest adventures the TFs had.
Review: Transformers were a toy line originally created from molds from a Japanese toy line. The toys proved quite popular here, aided by a cartoon show. This movie happened at the Transformer's greatest peak during the 1980s. First off, if you're not a fan of giant robots that turn into various objects, you're probably not going to like this movie. It relys too much on knowledge from the television series, knowledge that, in current times, requires a bit of research to acquire. Secondly, if you are a fan. In some respects, the story-telling is quite weak. Almost all the major characters were introduced in this movie, and quite a few favorites from the first two seasons are killed off quite casually. Also, because of when the movie was created, most of the second season characters are not in the movie, as the movie's writers weren't aware of the existence. Add to that a plot that's relatively cliche, especially considering the big plot elements was never heard about before this movie, and the story is a bit weak. The music soundtrack sounds a bit dated (its very '80s' in terms of a lot of rock music), but the animation has withstood the test of time, being quite good. If you're only a moderate Transfan, I suggest renting.

Review: I was 9 years old when this movie came out. I loved it then, and now at 25 years-old,I love it even more!! There is nothing negative to say about this movie whatsoever. The art is beautiful and the story fits the characters well. It is a must have for anyone who collects anime.

Summary: Can this really be the same movie I saw years ago?
Review: In pursuit of nostalgia, I just had to watch this again recently. Bad idea; let sleeping nostalgia lie. Now instead of warm memories, I've been confronted with the harsh truth. Let's start with the most annoying part: the 80s rock. It's everywhere. Every battle scene, and mind you, about ten minutes of this movie are _not_ battle scenes. This horrific soundtrack manages to remove any bit of tension or suspense from nearly every scene. Keep in mind that most movie makers use music of this sort to show action montages and compress a larger amount of story time into a few minutes. Since there's very little exposition in the movie, the whole thing is a montage...and so the whole thing has bad music. Speaking of exposition, I'm sure you've seen movies that had too much and made it too obvious. This movie has too little. Of course that may be partly because there apparently used to be a narrator part which was cut for this release. Nonetheless, the whole thing seems to contain about 90% battles and about 10% preparing for battles in between. Orson Welles is a high point; his Unicron sounds truly menacing. Eric Idle is interesting in his role. The rest of the cast is rather undistinguished. This is not a movie that focuses on characterization, or even touches on it; if you haven't memorized the toys, you'll be lost. (As was my wife.) If you're a child of the 80s now remembering just how fantastic this movie was when it came out, and longing to see it again, take my advice: Don't. Cherish your fond memories. Because once you rent or buy this tape and watch it, all those memories are gone, and you'll never get them back. And if you just have to watch it, don't watch it with anyone who doesn't love you dearly, because you may be razzed for a looooooong time.

Review: Great animation, great voice acting, and great story! The only thing I'm disapointed in is their wasn't a second and third movie (but the series made up for it, particularly the early episodes.)

Summary: "I would have waited an eternity for this"... movie!
Review: I was constantly ridiculed as a child because my favorite character on "The Transformers" TV show, wasn't a Transformer at all - it was Spike. So you can imagine how excited I was to see Spike all grown up in, "The Transformers - The Movie".
"Look, it's Unicron!"
The movie opens with our introduction to the devastating, planet-eating robot, Unicron. Voiced by the legendary Orson Welles (in his final performance), Unicron proves to be no match for any Autobot or Decepticon.
"Roger me! Wilco me! Anything! Hello! Hello! Earth?!" Fortunately, it doesn't take long for Spike and his son Daniel to make their appearance. I'll admit, seeing Spike as an adult, took some getting used to. Especially, during the scene when Spike's spaceship is being attacked by Unicron, and Spike yells, "Oh, s**t, what are we going to do?!" If my mother knew that there was profanity in this movie, I don't think she would have been so anxious to drive me to the movie theater.
"One shall stand, one shall fall!"
This movie contains many epic battles, including the fight between Prime and Megatron. I still think this is one of the best action sequences in motion picture history. Watching Optimus Prime fall to Megatron was uncomfortable for me, mostly because Spike and Prime always seemed to be the closest of friends. If it was painful for me to watch, I knew it would be painful for Spike. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but I will say that the Autobot Matrix of Leadership is the only thing that can destroy Unicron. Once Megatron is reborn as Galvatron (that's right, I said "reborn"!... you'll just have to see the movie to know what I'm talking about), he will stop at nothing to get the Matrix of Leadership. Can you blame him? When a robot the size of a planet tells you to do something - you do it!
You might want to take a nap before you watch "The Transformers - The Movie", because the climatic battle at the end of the movie will leave you exhausted. Total chaos, and I loved every minute of it!
I have but one thing to say to people who don't like this movie - "Spare me this mockery of justice!"
This movie is beyond good, beyond evil... it's beyond your wildest imagination!

Review: Transformers: The Movie is much more than some little kiddie flick made to keep a 5-year-old quiet for an hour and a half. It is a true battle between good and evil. It includes classic characters from the original series such as Optimus Prime, Starscream, and Megatron. It also introduces incredible new robots such as Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Galvatron, and the mighty Unicron. The movie is a great for EVERYONE. It is surprisingly entertaining to all ages. Transformers: The Movie is definitely more than meets the eye!
