Summary: After many years, its still one of my favorites
Review: Back when I was eight, my best friend and I would head on down to the video store and rent "Transformers: The Movie" every weekend. It blew us away every single time. Nine years later, I walked into a Camelot music and found a copy. I couldn't believe it! Nobody could get a copy for years! I bought it immediatly. My little brother, who has never seen any Transformers cartoons and is only vaguely familiar with my old action figures, loves it too. It's the only thing we watch around our house anymore. If you loved the Transformers, you've got to get a copy of this movie. It continues to blow me away even now.

Summary: Is there anything better?
Review: Not that I know of. I loved the cartoon on TV. I was obssessed. I remember seeing this movie when I was 5. From the opening of the movie, to Optimus' death, to the ending of the movie, I was captivated. Just today I started thinking about it again at work. Everything flooded back.

I love this movie. There is no movie that approaches this. How many TV show based movies hold such a complete house cleaning of the cast or deliver a real story with real action? How many animated movies don't treat kids like babies? This is what cartoons used to be. In a world awash in Power Rangers and Pokemon, this is the monument to what we grew up with. No Haim Saban to polute our minds with carboard box constructed heroes, we had The Transformers and GI Joe. We had real cartoons.

And to Mr. Maltin, forget the toys. Forget the sheets and pillow cases. When have we had a movie that does what this one does so well? Story, action, and at the same time, it works for kids too.

All hail Transformers the movie.

Summary: The Transformers: The Movie (DVD)
Review: "The Transformers: The Movie" is the best animated film of all-time! It has an amazing soundtrack (considering the fact that it WAS the 80's) and incredibly directed animation. The voices are excellent, especially Orson Welles as Unicron. This movie is my childhood; no matter how old I get I will thoroughly enjoy watching this movie over & over again! It's just packed with so much emotion and fun! But I got one question... WHY ISN'T IT OUT ON DVD YET! THERE'S MILLIONS OF US OUT HERE THAT CAN'T WAIT FOR IT! Tell Rhino (the company that produces the movie) to get in high gear and get with the future of home entertainment..."The Transformers: The Movie" on DVD!

Summary: the original MATRIX
Review: TransFormers: the Movie. Mmm. Real good treat. I cannot explain howmuch I love this film, but it's simply the best. Infinitly superior to any other children's flick ever; there's action, guns, explosions, adventure, lots of death (although not all good), a good sci-fi script that makes sense (ish), sexiness (Arcee, oooh), the best hand drawn animation that makes Disney look like a Sunday supplement failed comic book artist, A Monty Python geeza (Eric Idle, probably needed the money), arguably the best actor of the 20th C amongst the cast, Spock, a very good soundtrack considering it was the 80s, the original Matrix (of Autobot leadership), good jokes, and the single most tear-jerking scene in cinema history that even on its current 65th watch reduces me to big-man blubber. The nostalgia element's important too, of course. Count how many times you come out in goose-pimples. So really, it is probably THE best film ever. The most important episode in the TransFormers saga/legend/thing. All this praise and the damned thing's still not out on DVD. Que? Make no sense to me. Let them roll-out now and light our darkest hour!

One for the old die-hard fans, those who watched it when they were young, and for those who are only just understanding the brilliance of 'robots in disguise' via Beast Wars it equals an entertaining history lesson. Don't watch it, however, if you're over 10 and have never experienced the thrill of the TransFormers, you may disappointed and if you do actually enjoy it that'll mean more harm than good.

Summary: Makes me PROUD to be a Transformers fan!
Review: When I was a young teenager in the mid-80s, I used to watch the Transformers on the afternoon TV all the time, though it made me a little guilty. And I was also a little too embarrassed to go see the big movie about Transformers that came out at the time, so I never got to see it until just recently. Now, as things actually turn out, this is no little boy's cartoon full of big robots blasting each other. Instead, this is quite an elegant sci-fi epic so artfully produced in the very vein of good old Japanese animation with its real emotional impact, real sense of humor, war-style violence, and oh, YES! a little swearing and all - MUCH to my surprise, of course! And yes, it is very touching to see a fatherly old leader of the good robots literally open up his heart to pass on the power of leadership to the nearby young warrior. However, I wish I can see more of the Dinobots and my favorite - the adorable little Bumblebee.

Summary: A must see for any action lover
Review: Similer to another reveiwer to this movie, I saw this when I was very young, roughly 6 or 7 years of age, for the six years that it was not in my posession I continued to search the blockbusters for the movie but never found it. One small ray of hope was when my sister found the tape and CD soundtrack of the movie, and the gaining of the internet gave me a new urge to find this fantastic movie. Unfortunetally, I had to get it from a friend over the internet on a badly done copy. But it was ENOUGH!

The Anime-style animation, similer to that of Gundam, Escaflowne, Macross and Evengelion(forgive my typos to all who I offend)catches your eyes in astonishment. The story line continues that of the series, which was pretty impressive in itself, and one precious part is that the good guys and bad guys don't team up to beat a common foe, giving it some realism. Fantastic voice overs by many of our favorite actors and radio speakers (Leonard Nemoy, Orson Wells, and Eric Idle)

All in all, this move was one of the best animated movies I have seen in my life, but i am only 16 and open to be surprised again.

Summary: Explore your fun side
Review: What can I say, this movie is fun. Fun to listen to, fun to watch, and even fun to critique. If you want a little fun and a little adventure in your next movie, without taking it too serious, Transformers the movie is a nice little trip away from reality. Enjoy the ride, cuz it is one.

Summary: A blast from the past!
Review: Unlike many things I used to like and am rediscovering to find I dont like as much, Transformers has only gotten better with age! Man, its like the best of western animation and japanese in an incredible amalgamation! if you've never seen the Transofrmers, don't be influenced by their bastardized offspring, beast wars, this cartoon was and is great!

Summary: Greatest film ever shunned by the public?
Review: When I was a little kid I used to be entranced by clips of a Transformers flicks messily recorded to a low quality beta tape. It was an obsession of mine. I recall being engrossed by the animation, the music, the battles, and the overall drama of it all. It's been over ten years since I lost that tape and my memories of it became increasingly blurred. But the awe I felt whenever the movie was switched on never left me. A part of me felt just slightly empty in the duration of these numerous years, and I always gained a slight satisfaction whenever I tried to conjure up the memories of this enigmatic Transformers film.

Well, after all these years of emptiness, I suddenly had an epiphany: "Why not search the Internet for that cool Transformers movie I saw over 13 years ago?" One click lead to another and the tape soon thereafter in my possession. Let me tell you this: Transformers: The Movie is a great movie. The rock score, the heroism, the drama, the anime-style action and battle sequences... it's all there and it's even better than I remembered. Oh, there's definitely a seminal quality to it, as the animation ranges from plain ugly to beautifully fluid. It's also a little hard to appreciate if you're not a Transformers fan. But the more you watch it, the more you realize the true beauty behind what first "meets the eye." This animated flick was ahead of its time when it saw its release in 1986. Transformers: The Movie dared to aim at a more mature film back when Disney was still doing movies with dragons and castles. It's kind of like what Don Bluth did with Titan A.E. in trying to revolutionize public perception of the animated film with more mature themes, except Transformers: TM came out much earlier. First-class tale of heroism and destiny with a "so cheesy that it's cool" rock-score, and a dramatic, well-organized plot make this one of the most underrated movie in recent memory. A classic that deserves a look by those who didn't see it when it came out.
