Summary: Absolutely great
Review: I had been searching for years for this movie because it is one of the greatest animated series ever. In the movie it is filled with action and adventure. One of the problems is in the movie a lot of the original characters are killed, or are just not in the movie.

Summary: A Piece of Nostalgia That Should've Been Widescreen
Review: I watched this movie in a theatre when I was very young and thought it was cool. I could've sworn it was in widescreen so I wonder why this DVD release wasn't the same format as well? Anyway, seeing this movie brought back some memories, but now that I am older, it feels a bit cheesy. You pretty much need to take it for what it is, I guess.

I am glad this is a somewhat unedited version that includes Spike blurting out an expletive. I just wish it was the widescreen edition which I'm sure there was in theatres. A theatrical trailer and perhaps a featurette would've been nice but the lackthereof makes this DVD not so much of a "Special Collector's Edition" as advertised. It should've been more of a regular Full Screen Edition instead.

This movie is a cult classic to many Transformers fans. It was unfortunately a box office flop so why expect a whole lot from this DVD anyway? For the same reason, I doubt they would ever rerelease this with new or better features such as widescreen. Nevertheless, if you want to relive a part of your childhood that was all about Transformers, get this DVD while you still can.

PS: My sincerest apologies for constantly insisting there should be a widescreen edition.

Summary: It's all downhill from here.
Review: In all honesty, I don't own this yet. But I can tell you right now, I WILL be buying it. I have the VHS edited version, but I want the DVD bad. I grew up watching the cartoon. Every day after school, I would tune the satellite in and watch Transformers, GI Joe, and Mask. Transformers is by far the epitomy of 80's cartoons. I watched this movie for the first time in about 12 years, 2 years ago. And at 18 I cried when Optimus died. Few other cartoons or movies have that kind of nostalgic hold on me. I mean, the movie alone will sell, but to add all the interviews and extra stuff that comes with DVD's, how can you go wrong with this one? I just wish I had more than 5 stars to choose from, this is definitely a 10.

Summary: Finally it comes out on DVD
Review: Well I have had this movie on VHS for about 10 years now, and have watched it many a time. I was 14 when the movie came out, but never got to see it at the theaters (couldn't get a parent to go). The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is not due to the movie, it's 5+ stars, it's the acutal dvd. I got one, that was scratched, and couldn't view the extra features stuff. I would click on it, and it would start playing the movie, or I wouldn't click anything, and the movie would start. I could pick chapters, but if I wasn't quick it would start playing the movie. Well I thought it must be due to the scratched DVD so Amazon was nice enough to send me a new one, it had no scratches, but has the same problem. So it looks like it is a programers problem on the side of who made the dvd. Besides that (was hoping to see that extra stuff) the dvd is very good.

Summary: SPECTACULAR!!
Review: Finally after 13 years I FINALLY see this movie for the first time. I remember when this movie came out I was about 10 years old and I was begging my big brother to take me to go see it. Well he saw it, and left me at home . . . Figures. Anyway after 13 years I get to see it, and it was definetely worth the wait. I was entertained from beginning to end. Everything in this movie was done perfectally. From the death of Octimus to Unicrons menacing presence after he transforms to robot form I was astonished. You WILL love this movie if you are a transformer's fan. Even if you already seen it, I am sure you will enjoy seeing it again. If you havnet seen it yet (like me, until now) then definetely buy it NOW!! I usually don't give 5 stars but considering that this movie was originally made back in 1987 and the storyline, animation, sound and action scenes it definetely deserves 5 stars. Even in today's age of technology Transformers is still perhaps one of the best movies I have ever seen. 5 STARS. My brother will NOT be watching this movie unless he gets his own copy, he wouldnt take me to see it back then, so he can't see it now. Revenge is sweet.

Summary: Best Movie Ever
Review: Transformers : The Movie is one of the best ever made, cartoon or live action. It is unarguably the best American animated films, and still excellent compared to Japanese anime. It didn't come out during the G2 stuff, it came out in 1986, during the height of the shows popularity. I saw it when I was six years old, and it was just as much the bomb then as it is now. It was the second in Hasbro's triple launch of movie releases, and its failure at the box-office made them decide not to release GI Joe to the movies. Anyway, that doesn't matter, because critics are stupid and American audiences almost always reject non-Disney type cartoons. This movie is a great epic with an all-star cast of voices, great animation, and a great plot that anyone can appreciate. If you like TF at all, or sci-fi, or cartoons, you should get this. Although the cartoon was also excellent, the movie is the best part of the entire Transformers franchise. People die, they curse occasionaly, the fights are great, Vince DiCola's score is great, the metal soundtrack is cool and represenative of the 80's. All together, its the greatest film ever made.

Summary: Understandably a cult classic
Review: I like this movie a lot, despite, or maybe because of, its flaws. Any movie based on a cartoon series and toy line that has several of its cartoon and toy characters killed off is destined to become some kind of classic. However, any claims that this film's animation are superior to Disney's are completely ludicrous, though I suppose Disney would be unable to make a film like this, for other reasons.

Summary: THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER!
Review: How could so called "Transformers" fans like this atrocity? Let me tell you why this movie should be banned. It was just a two hour commercial to kill off all the cool, old Transformers and make kids want the new ones. In the begining, every shot megatron fires kills an old autobot. By the end of the flick, the new guys are dodging bullets left and right. Optimus Prime dies valiantly, which is a serious, touching moment and could have set the tone for a great film. However, any integrity the film has is destroyed when the new transformers break out into a "weird al" music montage set to "dare to be stupid." All the new characters are lame and annoying. The plot is pointless. The level of violence is near pornographic and toatly innapropriate for kids, which is this movie's target demographic. This movie is an insult to the spirit of Optimus Prime. I hate this.... Anybody who buys this should not call themselves a "Transformers" fan.

Summary: Just a tiny point
Review: Yeah I'm sad for pointing this out, but maybe there's loads of others have too,I just haven't been botherd to check. Soundwave wasn't an Autobot as the editorial comment states, he was a Decepticon as far as I can remember.

Summary: If you watched the transformers as a kid...
Review: Then you must buy this dvd.

Ive seen this movie on VHS and was fairly dissapointed with the washed out colors. However this DVD has crisp clear picture and sound thanks to the 5.1 audio track.

Though the disc lacks somewhat in special features, the chance to see the movie again in all of its glory makes it worth the purchase.

I highly recommend it....
