Summary: TransFormers The Movie
Review: I also grew up on T.F. cartoons. Like the other 80s cartoons He-Man, G.I. Joe,etc. Trans-Formers helped form a generation of kids imaginations growing up in the Star Wars generation. The animation of Trans-Formers was very good for the american anime industry. Not up to Disneys standards it is still very good. With the Movie T.f. managed to up the standard even further and was ahead of its nearest toy rivals movie:He-Man by 18mths.The R1 release is avery good one with a good extras package. For an 80s T.V./toy tie-in it beats Pokemon hands down.

Summary: Transformers: The Movie a lot better than Pokemon!
Review: I guess this review is kinda personal, but I grew up on The Transformers and I must say that it's a lot better than the garbage they're passing off as cartoons today. One nitpick about this though, they could've done without all the music blaring in the background. Otherwise, I fully recommend this to anyone who enjoys this stuff (animae).

Summary: Own a Piece of Transformer/80's History!!!
Review: A mainstay of children's cartoons from the 80's, I bought this DVD in my attempts to "relive" my childhood. Personally, I feel this DVD is a good buy for anyone out there who was ever a Transformers fan, or in fact ANY fan of great animation. Like the box says, it's a "Collector's Edition."

The movie itself was okay. For the uninitiated, here's a rundown:

Plot synopses: The Autobots (good guy robots) battle the (evil bad guy robot) Decepticons (as usual). The plot twist, a new menace, the planet eating Unicron, makes his way into the galaxy chomping away on things. After a great battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, Unicron forms his army from a portion of the defeated Decepticons and wrecks havoc through them on the Autobots. The mission - destroy the Autobot matrix of leadership.

The movie marked a bridge in Transformers storylines. It marked the end of the "Optimus Prime, Earth based Transformers" era. Most of the characters from the early episodes were "written out" in the movie. The movie introduced the new "Outer space, futuristic" era of Transformers with the introduction of new characters. Plus, we finally see Spike become a man and have his own son Daniel.

Movie features: A rock soundtrack still kicks, animation and fight scenes that still rule even by today's standards. All-star cast of voices: Orson Welles, Leonard "Mr. Spock" Nimoy, Robert "Unsolved Mysteries" Stack, "Top 40" Casey Kasem, etc.

DVD features: Interview with musical score composer Vince DiCola and production Storyboards from the movie.

Here's my rundown:

Good: The movie itself. It's piece of Transformer history. Solid action, kicking music. They sure don't make things like this anymore!!! The pure nostalgia makes it worthwhile for me.

So-so: The DVD extras. The interview with the musical scorist was a "whatever" for me. The production storyboards were also a "whatever" for me. If you're getting it for the DVD features it's probably not worth it.

Bad: A large portion of the Transformers from the earlier episodes weren't in the movie.

For me personally, this movie, in fact the whole Transformer franchise, has stood the test of time. It was something ahead of its time. Transforming robots that turned into cars, planes, etc. I would put it up against anything out there today like Pokemon, Digimon, Power Rangers, etc and I think it holds it's own well. Great for any Transformers fans out there. Great for any kids of this generation that didn't grow up with Transformers. Great for any action cartoon lovers.

Recommended viewing for all. Long live the 80's!!!

Summary: The Transformers DVD
Review: This was the first DVD I bought for my library, months before I even bought the player! I was in a comic book store saw it as I was heading toward the register. Knowing that I would eventualy buy a DVD player I jumped at the oppertunity. I was always a fan of the tranformers ever since I saw the pilot episodes, which has been my most recent purchace. I suggest that anyone who reads this follow my lead and buy this DVD for your own collection, or make it your first and give yourself a reason to buy a DVD player.

Summary: A GREAT PIECE OF NOSTALGIA. Just a little low on extras.
Review: I remember watching this movie as a kid, crying when Optimus died, being shocked when i heard a curse word in a cartoon, and cheering in the end. After I don't know how many years, it is still great to watch it. The voice talents are spectacular, and the story line is top notch. This is not only a great cartoon, but a great movie. The only reason it is missing a star is because the DVD is stretching just to add extra features, they could have done better than a little commentary by the musical director and some story boards, but the movie is still awesome.

Summary: Looking for the Perfect Gift for Your Boyfriend?
Review: Hi there! I purchased this tape as a gift for my boyfriend. If your's was a kid in the 80's, and you get this one for him, I can tell you that you'll be thrilled with the gleam in his eyes when he opens this one!

So if you were thinking about an expenisve watch that you could brag to your girlfriend's about, at least think of buying him this piece of his childhood, that HE can brag to the boys about. And if you want to be a really good girlfriend, watch it with him, and let him tell you which of the toys he had as a kid, I am SURE he will! :)
